When his alarm went off that morning, Ignis was sorely tempted to ignore it. He had no wish to leave the haven of Gladio’s arms, and allowed himself the momentary indulgence of nestling closer and nuzzling his cheek against that rugged, stubbly jawline.
“Mornin’, Iggy,” Gladio rumbled into Ignis’s hair.
“Go back to sleep,” Ignis said tenderly. “I’ll make some coffee, shall I?”
He slid reluctantly from the blankets and wrapped himself in his robe, grateful that he’d set the alarm an hour earlier than necessary so they didn’t have to rush. After an entire weekend of shared solitude - a rare occurrence with both of their duties - going back to his typical routine would prove jarring at best. Ignis knew he’d acclimate quickly, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to take advantage of every last second of private time he could snare with his lover before heading back out into the public eye. After setting the coffee machine to perk, Ignis crossed into the living room and drew open the blinds. He stared wide-eyed at the winter wonderland outside that pane of glass, his jaw gaping. When had it snowed? He had a vague memory of the weekend’s weather forecast calling for flurries, but surely he would have recalled if a blizzard had been on the way.

For the final day of the @gladnis2018 holiday weekend! I chose a blend of the two prompts “Cuddling Under the Blankets” and “Confessions” as well as making use of the “Snowed In” bonus as a plot starter! This weekend was so much fun, I’d love to do more one day if I have more time!
A Little Bit Of Holiday Magic
A Drabble for Gladnis Holiday Weekend. Thank you for organizing things @gladnis2018 !
Day 1: Mistletoe. An elderly Gladio and Ignis share a kiss.
“This way, darling.” Ignis said, his voice paper thin. He led Gladio in front of the fireplace, guided by the warmth like a beacon in the dark. Ignis faced Gladio in front of the flickering flames, their hands clasped between them. He thumbed over Gladio’s knuckles, now gnarled by arthritis. He imagined the sun spots that must cover his hands, though he couldn’t see them.
The familiar warm rumble of Gladio’s laughter filled the space in front of him as Iris chased a giggling toddler around their legs. Gladio pulled Ignis closer to keep him steady, arms winding around his lower back. Not as strong and sculpted as they used to be, but enough to keep him safe. Enough to hold him tight and keep him warm every night.

It was disconcerting to arrive at Noct’s and find the table already laid out with a festive spread. Ignis couldn’t resist the urge to hasten over and give it a thorough inspection, but even his critical eye could find nothing amiss. His Highness had done surprisingly well, and Ignis took a moment to remind himself it was unfair to underestimate Noctis.
“Hey, Iggy.” For such a large man, Gladio moved with extreme stealth when he chose.
“Gladiolus.” Ignis allowed his lips to curve in the barest hint of a smile, which he nodded crisply to mask.
Gladio employed no such subtlety, grinning broadly and clapping Ignis on the shoulder. If his hand lingered a little long, those calloused fingertips brushing the side of Ignis’s neck before drawing away, it surely wasn’t enough to raise suspicion.

Gladnis Holiday Weekend and NSFW Content
Given some recent changes to Tumblr, we understand that posting NSFW content for Gladnis Holiday Weekend may be more challenging than previously anticipated.
We want to remind everyone that NSFW content is still absolutely welcome for this fan weekend, though certainly not required!
To best navigate Tumblr's changes, we suggest the following:
Make sure to @ this blog in the text of your post, so we get a notification and can reblog your content (like this: @gladnis2018). Tagging is still very broken.
Links to sites outside Tumblr are a great way to share your content. However, Tumblr has made linked posts non-searchable, so please be double sure to follow #1 if you use a link, since it's likely your content won't show up in the tags.
We are also on Twitter and will be RTing there, if that's a better platform for your Gladnis content.
NSFW content does need to be behind a cut to be reblogged. This allows everyone to see just the content they want to see.
If you want to avoid using the NSFW tag after 12/17, which is understandable, we suggest the good old tag "lemons." Those of you looking to avoid NSFW content can blacklist this tag now.
