Sam, looking at Bucky whose definitely stifling a devilish grin, answers, "No ma'am—what's your name?" She says it's Nina. "Nina. No, Nina, I don't recall anyone's hand on my backside."
"So, that's a rumor," Bucky lies. He had, indeed, absentmindedly slid his hand down Sam's back, rubbed Sam's ass cheeks, then ended with a light squeeze.
"I hate to do this to you, gentlemen, but we've got footage."
Sam just stares at Nina because what else can he do? He can't leave. Well, he can but then what would that say? He can resort to lying but that's delusional. So he's just going to sit here and endure this moment though the embarrassment feels lethal.
Bucky's still sort of holding in a laugh but starts to sober, or pretend to, at the notion of proof that he and Captain America are on ass-grabbing terms.
And there's footage, alright. From four different angles too. When they got off the elevator at the Disney Fan Expo, they were sure no eyes were around to witness one of their common gestures of affection. Of course, Sam's been a little bratty about them not being public and Bucky's brain translated that into mild forms of exhibitionism and pda. But they really didn't see anyone in the corridor. Fucking smart phones and zoom-in features. The recordings are grainy but it's definitely them. Shit.
"The public wants to know—"
"Fuck the public," Bucky spits.
"No, baby. Uh ... shit," Sam says and immediately regrets.
"The public wants to know if Captain America and the former Winter Soldier are an item."
"Forgive me, Nina. I apologize for swearing. You're a lady," Bucky says, sincerely. "But I have no comment." He looks at Sam like 'the ball is in your court' and Sam takes a few deep breaths and closes his eyes as if in prayer. He reopens them and chances a glance at Bucky who looks at him warmly so he knows it's ok.
