Note: The design on the left was crocheted in worsted weight (4) and 3.0 hook, the one on the right is the SAME pattern, just with cotton thread (2) and a 1mm hook. For this design, blocking is important for it to look good! That means wetting the finished piece, and pinning it into foam blocks or other surface to dry in shape.

chain 9. sl into last chain to make a loop.

The completed rectangle should be exactly half as tall as it is long.
When blocking the rectangle, use a ruler to ensure the sides are even! Drawing the rectangle to size on the blocking back first will help you get it exactly even.
I once saw a living gem - carabus cancellatus beetle, but that was probably his last day, cause someone trampled it :( it was such a beautiful creature so that's a doily with him wandering through eternal forests
