My current thoughts on the meaning of My Propeller
If you can summon the strength, tow me
I can't hold down the urgency
You've got to make your descent slowly
And oil up those sticky keys
I believe the word “tow” is misheard, and actually is “toe”. This is in reference to feet and Alex’s desire to be toed. It’s a task that requires a certain kind of strength, but Alex is really desperate for it. Oiling up those sticky keys is in reference to oiling up the toes for a toe job.
Coax me out, my low
And have a spin of my propeller
low is referencing where feet are, they are the lowest point of the body
It's a necessary evil
No cause for emergency
Borrowed the beak of a bald eagle
Oh, momentary synergy
Alex knows that a toe job is not for the weak and is frowned upon, hence calling it a “necessary evil”, but it isn’t cause for panic, he reassures the listener, it is normal to him
Coax me out, my low
Sink into tomorrow
Coax me out, my low
And have a spin of my propeller
Having a spin of his propeller is a euphemism for enjoying some of his euphoria. His propeller is a metaphor for his joy and lust for life, and he wants to share it with someone.
My propeller won't spin
And I can't get it started on my own
When are you arriving?
My propeller won't spin
And I can't get it started on my own
When are you arriving?
My propeller won't spin
And I can't get it started on my own
When are you arriving?
My propeller
Alex desperately calls out for his partner-in-toes to come to his rescue. His life doesn’t have the same meaning it once did without the one person in his life who he could rely on for a steady source of feet. He feels lost without his sole-mate, his toe provider, the one thing that keeps him afloat. The thing that propels him.
