She came back & she was awful AGAIN
This happened the Wednesday/Thursday before Fatherâs Day and Iâve been holding onto it until Fuck Customers opened back up again. Abby and Rodney youâre both awesome! I posted a few weeks ago about the lady who called me worthless over a glue gun; she came back.Â
~~ TLDR: Lady says âI would have killed youâ when she couldnât see me, calls me rude for not taking expired coupons OR its rude that reality goes on, doesnât understand that coupons donât stack on one item, and hopefully karma will bite her ass that the item is on 25% sale when she wants to use her 60% off coupon. ~~ So Iâm sitting on the floor at the u-bend of our queue stocking soap. Customers canât see me so usually I hear them before they get too close and run into me or I scare them. No biggie. I didnât hear this lady. She gets about three feet from me with her cart, stops, and says âOh no, I would have killed you!â
Now most customers just say âOops I didnât see you, I could have hurt you / run into you / etc.â But âwouldâ usually indicates intention and âkilledâ is extremely strong. My hackles raise. I try to give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe this is the way she talks, but with the earlier glue gun incident my guard is up.
We get to the register and sheâs buying Wilton food coloring to color sidewalk chalk with her grandchildren. Ok, cools. She opens her coupon book and I already know thereâs going to be trouble. The coupons inside the book are expired, the only available ones are on the back. âIâll use this 50% off on the food coloring.â âIâm sorry ma'am, those ones are expired.â âNo theyâre not, they canât be!â She looks at me instead of reading the coupon. HEAVY SIGH. I point to the dates. â7-11, 7-11, 7-11, and 7-11 sewing notions.â âWell whatâs todayâs date?â ??!!?? Do you⊠do you not know weâre almost halfway through June?? Clearly not one of those! I tell her the date and she says âWell thatâs rude!â Um, excuse me? Whatâs rude? That I didnât offer to accept her expired coupon or that REALITY MOVES ON?? (The computer wonât accept it and we donât accept expired coupons - only in very rare cases and CERTAINLY not for her.)
I politely tell her that thereâs a 40% coupon on the back. She agrees so I scan that and tell her the new total. Very forcefully, authoritatively, she says, âIâll use that 20% total purchase coupon on it too.â Mentally I blink at her. I didnât offer that. Coupons donât stack on one item, theyâve never stacked. Iâm not even sorry any more. âUnfortunately coupons donât stack on one item, its in the fine print.â âIt doesnât say that!â Ok, which one of us works here now? Which one of us knows the book because hundreds of other customers have shown it to me? âIt says âcannot be combined with other coupons or discounts.â That means that its only one coupon per item.âÂ
She takes her coupon book (good thing I hadnât yet crossed out the coupon AHAHAHA), stuffs it into her purse, and says THREE TIMES âWell I donât want it then. Iâll just come back and get it with my 60% off coupon. Its not worth that price.â She takes her time putting her stuff away and says it THREE TIMES. Is she hoping Iâll relent? Is she trying to guilt me? Is she trying to shame me? I donât know what the fuck she thought she was going to accomplish by saying it three times, wasting her time (I mean Iâm only stocking soap). With her rudeness Iâm not giving her a centimeter.Â
I really hoping karma bites her ass; Wilton products are usually 25%/30% off when the 60% coupon is available. Of course someone (probably me) will have to deal with telling her that itâs a sale item and NO we canât make it full price to allow for the coupon.
FUCK YOU lady. (You clearly donât even know how to READ or USE YOUR EYES.)
Good news is I told the story to the store manager and he said if she comes back in heâll take her picture. What heâs going to do with her picture I have no idea. But our store manager is awesome and wonât let customers treat us like this.
