Photographing at Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair and you may remember this gentleman: I caught him back in July 2014 for the Glasgow Vintage Festival. When asked about his style, he says he's always been into a classic look. He still gets his suits made, as it was common in the fifties and sixties but on the occasion they're sometimes vintage. Pictured in the close up is the tie pin he bought just five minutes before I approached him.

I photographed artist Beth Kettel as she was on her way to The Telfer Gallery for the opening of her show later on in the day, Post-Point, and/or, The Sequential Tangential Potential (25th April 2015 - 10th May 2015). I love the contrasting texture of her cloud of hair and streamlined monochromatic outfit, which stood out so nicely amongst the flower stalls that were set up on a fairly sunny Sauchiehall Street. The touch of a hand-made bag makes the outfit a real bonus, and Beth hopes to launch a line of them soon.
Some more exciting news - I was asked by Glasgow City Arts to write a review and a short bit about my installation experience on the 'Hello, My Name is Paul Smith' exhibition currently showing at The Lighthouse. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been already!
Also, a huge thank you to Rachel Boyd for getting in touch with me!

It's been rather quiet on the blog recently but it sure won't be any longer - I had the honour of attending the Glasgow School of Art Undergraduate Fashion Show! Expect a huge stream of images from their recent success! Well done to all involved! 👏🏻🌟

I personally adore the ladies’ suit, and I feel that there just isn’t enough of them about! In fact, I find them incredibly rare to come across, so when I saw this impeccably dressed lady, I’ll be honest I almost sprinted after her. The bonus here is the Glen plaid check as well (again, another personal favourite), as most ladies suits that I’ve seen are quite tame. With the red Lulu Guiness handbag and matching red shoes to give the overall outfit a sharp edge, I think this lady is just spot on.
My favourite quote to date is hers: “I just wanted a new trouser suit; and I saw this and said ‘I’m having you.’”

Really nice light this evening, and it complements the glow this lady radiates.

This lady reminded me that Spring was definitely on its way! Nice to see some bright, lightweight fabrics for a change. Now for some sunshine and warmer weather!

Very, very, slowly catching up with the massive backlog of photographs I have... the blog has had to take a backseat due to my other commitments and passions over the past few months but I'm still keeping it going in the background! Thought I'd have a quick Google of the blog's name to see how it's doing on the internet to keep things up to date, and it turns out I've been sort of featured by ScotCampus! You can view their article on 'Scotland's Style Tribes' here.
The interview I did with Abbey Lauren (http://www.agirlcalledglasgow.co.uk) back at the start of the year has also been uploaded onto her new website, www.inkscotland.co.uk! I'm super humbled to have been asked and featured as part of her work. You can watch the interview here.
Once again, thanks to all for your patience with me and more importantly, for your ongoing support! Without you, there wouldn't be GW!

I love this lady's sixties influenced style. The yellow tights really pops and pulls the monochrome outfit together. From the earrings, to the glasses and the subtle detail of a round watch to offset the rigid geometric pattern of the overall outfit really makes this a winner for me!

I have often seen Zac around the Art School but never had the chance to ask for a photograph until this beautiful spring day! I have long admired her unique sense of style and the various personas she's able to create through her way of dressing. With each time I see Zac, there's always something new and incredibly fascinating about her. Here's hoping I'll be able to bump into Zac again and photograph another of her interesting outfits!
A wee change from street style! I attended a talk on the 8th August by local Glasgow artists (including recent graduates of the School of Art and the 2014 Turner Prize nominee Ciara Phillips) about a three day project they had recently been working on in partnership with Glasgow University, titled 'The only way to do it is to do it'. The project was centred around a variety of issues that mattered to each individual artist but equally about the practice of thinking through making and collaboration. Much of the work was print-based, namely screen prints, and saw the production of posters as well as garments. Here they are with their garment based works which I found to be really inspiring!

Elizabeth caught my eye immediately as I walked past Tesco. I hadn't seen the colour yellow all day as it was, as usual, Glasgow grey all round despite being the month of Spring. Here was someone who wore yellow almost top to bottom and brightened everything around her at once. Sure enough, I approached her immediately when she came out and asked for a photograph.
She told me that she loves customising and playing with materials, and was very much inspired by all sorts, particularly the celebration of the individual. Her go to place is the Barras where she picks up things she fancies adapting to whatever she feels an outfit might need. She says that at the moment, buttons are her big thing - turning them into accessories or decorative statements. I love Elizabeth's colour coordination and the confidence with which she wears her outfit. I asked whether she worked in the creative industry and to my surprise responded with a 'No'; in fact, Elizabeth previously worked as a nurse helping those with mental health needs. She recently set up an art club for others, working similarly to art therapy but in a more informal environment. I love this twist in the story because it just goes to show how creativity can be found anywhere and in anyone; and also, how important it can be to our health.
30th July 2015 Hope everyone is enjoying their summer holidays, despite the dreich weather here in Glasgow (though it's not too bad today)! I have some rather overdue messages having been a little too self indulgent the past month and locked myself at home in my quest to learn to sew - all thanks to the inspirational people I have met whilst working on this blog! First off, huge thank you to all for your continued support! GW has reached over 900 likes on Facebook and 1000 followers on Instagram - crazy!! Never did I think back when I started this it would gain so much popularity. So big big BIG thank you from my wee heart! It means a huge amount to me and those I've photographed. Secondly, even crazier, I've been featured in @scotstreetstyle fantastic first documentation of current Scottish creatives, Ønward! I'm overwhelmingly humbled to have been a part of this project, and to be in the same book as some notable, truly inspirational people working in the Scottish Fashion scene. Massive thanks to all who contributed and more importantly, huge kudos to Gordon for making it happen. That's all from me for now, just a round of big hearty thanks to all but keep an eye out, I've got a huge backlog of photographs yet to be published :)
