Atticus Pierce was the first, and only, child Trisha Pierce ever had. He grew up in a single parent household, but his mom's love made up that of two parents. He was the product of a fun night that turned into multiple nights. Trisha fell hard for Heath, and truthfully, one could say they were a pretty perfect duo together. She was in life, and in spirit, his biggest cheerleader. The only reason she never told Heath about Atticus was because in she truly believed she was helping him achieve his true happiness by letting him go on with his career without holding him back. But that didn't mean that she didn't tell Atticus stories about his father, very much keeping his memory alive throughout his entire childhood and teenage years as best as she could. And Atticus? Well, he lived in a world in which his mother had to keep working double jobs, as well as shifts, in order to keep their household afloat. He admired her for the strength she showed him and so he focused his energy on trying to help out around the house. Keeping all the questions he had about his father tucked in the back of his head.

From a young age, Atticus showed signs of being a talented photographer. Even though he loved taking pictures of nature, his passion was with street photography. He loved to capture little slices of life, especially those involving his mother. It was thanks to his photography that he was able to bring in a bit more income for their little home. He always used to ask payment to be in cash and then he would secretly slip it in his mom's purse or pretend like he found it on the street so she wouldn't feel bad. Even though Atticus eventually does end up getting a degree in photography, nothing ever really came of it for him. His mom fell ill when he turned twenty-three, so he spent most of the time working, paying the medical bills, and taking care of her. When he was twenty-five, Trisha finally showed Atticus a picture of his father and her when they had been dating. Then, when Atticus turns twenty-seven, his mom passed due to health complications.

He spent a year just wandering around the Orlando area and pretty much getting into lighthearted trouble here and there. One day he ended up getting into a bar fight with a guy that ends up being his friend by the end of it all, funny enough, and he becomes the reason Atticus gets inspired to look for his father. Little did he know that he would end up finding Heath and he'd end up actually liking his father. He's only been in NYC for six months and the discovery of his father is very recent, but Atticus has a positive outlook on the situation. In the meantime, he's very dedicated to his job at the funeral home. After all, it's thanks to Suresh that he's been able to not only put food in his stomach, plus pay rent, but also find his father.

Atticus had been working at the funeral home almost since his arrival to New York City. Suresh had been nothing but a guiding light in the chaos of the city life, even helping him reconnect with his father. There was nothing that the guy wouldn't do for Suresh at this point, he felt eternally grateful to his boss. Not only had he extended a helping hand when he needed it the most, he taught him so much when it came to the funeral business. He never thought that he'd be interested in making it a career, but he's grown very fond of it. It was nice to be able to be some comfort to those who came through the doors for their services and to help them with the new transition in their life even just a little bit.

It wasn't too often he got the chance to enjoy lunch with Suresh, but he was very happy when the opportunity presented itself. He enjoyed sitting down with the other and talking about random things. Mostly it was Atticus giving his life story to Suresh, and he was so appreciative of how attentive the other seemed to be when he spoke. In return, Atticus soaked up any advice and guidance the other had for him. He had just entered Suresh's office, smiling, holding up a bag of take out in one of hand, "Lunch has arrived. Sorry it took a bit; they didn't make the veggie rice extra spicy at first. Now we have both non-spicy and extra spicy."

Luke had another trip upcoming. Before he goes he wants to check something with Suresh. He was doing a lot of activities, he needed to edit some videos to post. He does have a person he hired for editing, but he also has his own pleasures in doing it. It had been a slow day today at Shady Plots, but Atticus enjoyed these days. He was tending to some of the plants around the funeral home, feeling the soil, watering the ones that needed it. He was just about to pour a bit of water into one of the pots when he hears the voice of another person, which causes his attention to go in the direction it came from, momentarily distracting him from what he was doing. "Hello," Atticus gently greets, followed by an apologetic smile, "I'm sorry. He's not in at the moment. If you have something you'd like to leave for him, I'll make sure he gets it. I'm not too sure what time he'll be back."

Atticus normally spent his lunch hour munching on a sandwich while taking random snapshots around the city, unless it was really busy at the funeral home. Except, today. Today he had plans to meet with his father, Heath, at a nearby diner. He would be lying if he said he hadn't been counting down the days, hours, and minutes until this very moment. Even telling work that he would need today as a half day, because he didn't want to rush their time together. Years had gone by already, if you asked him, that was more than enough to have slip by. After taking a couple of photos around Central Park, Atticus shows up to the diner a bit earlier than the time they had agreed to meet at so that he could claim a table for them.

He chose a booth by the window both because he liked window seats and so that Heath could easily spot him upon his arrival. Also, he could snag a photo or two in the meantime. The waitress comes by to place the complimentary waters down and two menus. He's in the middle of scanning for a muse with his camera when he suddenly spots Heath in his shot and he waves to the other from inside the diner. Lowering the camera Atticus sets it aside for now, his attention goes to the man walking into the diner. "Hey," he grins, "I'm glad you could make it. How was the trip here? Hopefully traffic wasn't too killer, yeah?"
