“I love my lesbian boyfriend!” [analog] collage. 2025. created by me.
I honestly feel like people in HelPol spaces have gone past just giving advice to trying to teach everyone how to be a HelPol a little too quickly.
I fully believe people should be allowed to share their experiences and advice, but I get a little weary when people start teaching exactly how things should be done and how you should practice.
By all means, spread your knowledge and take input from others, but please do your own research as well. Hellenic Polytheism isn't a centralized religion and shouldn't be treated like one. I guess my point is that you should seek knowledge yourself from multiple sources, and not purely from posts online.
This is not a targeted post. This has just been weighing on my mind for a bit. Be kind to others, and I hope whoever is reading this has a good day.
Sometimes I see people give advice/direction on here that's hyper specific to one era too. "You have to do this, because this book says to" - but it's something that was only practiced in Athens, in the seventh century.
We don't have a law book to adhere to, no strict rules of what's correct and what isn't, and I think that trips a lot of people up when they're first starting out.
