Weekend Recap (7/21-7/23/2016)
yeah, I know it’s not technically the weekend yet, but Thursdays are MY Fridays, since i don’t have school on Fridays. Anyways, it was the first lecture I attended in more than 3 days (well, since we left Hawaii :( I’m not really putting much from our trip, bc a lot of it is on fb). nothing really changed, just same ol’ class it’s been for weeks. It’s still really interesting, and I love every minute of it.Today’s lecture talked about the elderly and what makes them happy, strong, and able to live over a hundred years. It really hit home for me actually, because it reminded me of Mama Pat. After class, I spoke to my professor and thanked her for such a great lecture because of how enlightening it was and how it made me think of Mama Pat. My professor was really touched, and she also mentioned that a key part of longevity and a happy life was who you surround yourself with. This was actually a really important conversation for me because it made me think about my relationship with my two best friends, Kamran his girlfriend Jenna. Out of the three of us, Jenna and I are the ones in college and academically motivated. Kamran doesn’t really care at all about school and both he and Jenna focus more on leisure. So I asked my professor:
“Is it bad if you surround yourself with people that aren’t really motivated to go to school and just have fun? Out of my friends I’m the only one really going to school and every time they want to hang out with me, I’m afraid to turn them down because I’m always busy with schoolwork and studying. It’s hard because these have been my best friends for years so ‘cutting them off’ would be really hard to do.”
It was here that my professor told me something that gave me a huge amount of reassurance. She told me that “if they really are your best friends, then they’ll respect your decisions and still be your friend. You just need to let them know that you’re still their friend.” Really great message. I absolutely love being in that class because I learn a lot about myself, the people around me, and how they might think.. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I received this message that morning:
I usually tend to get agitated or anxious every time someone hits me up asking to hang out, because I’m afraid of turning them down or disappointing them. But after that conversation I had with my professor, I felt different. But in a good way. I decided to hang out with them with an open mind (plus, I had to give them their tikis I got them from Hawaii)
I met up with them that night and I actually took my car to Kamran’s place. He was surprised that I had my own car now. The rest of the night was really chill though I caught up with them, talked about my Hawaii trip and how school has been. Kamran’s friend Miles was there too and he was talking about his trip to that gaming tournament out in Los Angeles, EVO. The curry that jenna made was actually pretty good. (but for the record, lemme just say that I will NEVER eat Indian curry, or any curry that wasn’t made from my friends. Japanese Curry I guess...)

I left their house around midnight, but Kamran, Jenna had to roll out too because they had to drop off Miles. But what’s funny was that we took the same road home so we both rolled out windows down and were playing loud music and making each other laugh while driving. Never doing that again, but it was still pretty fun. and It sorta looked something like this:

It was definitely a much better hang out than the last one, mostly because I was actually in a good mood, and not going through depression at that moment. Life is good.
Still getting adjusted to being back home from Hawaii. What made it worse was that Justin and I woke up to this being on Twitter: https://twitter.com/MCRofficial/status/756198047638401024
If you can’t read that’s it’s a tweet from one of our favorite bands of all time: My Chemical Romance. They broke up a couple of years ago, but they made a random announcement the day we got back from Hawaii. We were EXTREMELY excited because we thought the band was getting back together for like, a reunioun tour or something, or they were going to form again to make new music....but we were wrong. The tweet I posted above is them confirming that there will be NO REUNION and NO TOUR. It’s just the ten year anniversary of their album, The Black Parade (Which is a really great album, and one of my personal favorites). BUT STILL, justin and I weren’t taking it well at all. We were quite sad because that’s one of our favorite bands. I loved that band, green day, and rock and roll overall before I fell in love with hip hop. and that really means something!! So yeah, that happened... but My dad also found a nylong guitar from Goodwill, and Justin got some new strings so we could start playing. heh, now we have two guitars and I’m slowly picking it up and practicing songs. (well, I only started playing a few chords, Flight of the Navigarot by Childish Gambino, and Hong Kong by The Gorillaz)
I woke up early because I had to go to Kamran’s house and pick up my backpack (which I left by accident the last time we hung out) and head to Michaels to grab a few things. When I got to Kamran’s he asked me what I was doing that morning, and I told him that I was going to pick up some art supplies and asked them if he and jenna wanted to tag along. So we were off, we went to michaels and just hung out again. I picked up a new paintbrush and some x-acto knife blades. And I even showed them some new art I was planning to start on once I finish summer school (STAY TUNED!) After that we went to McDonalds to have some lunch and it kick back. I really had a good time, even though it was just lunch at McDonald’s becasue we were all having really cool conversations about highschool, middle school, and things we would do as kids. Kamran and I were telling jenna stories about when we would get into trouble and shit. haha good times. It was a great morning overall, because I had the chance to spend time with them again. this is the only picture I have from that morning
I’m really glad, happy, and blessed to have friends like them.
When I got home, dad decided that he would show me more on how his amazon business worked. So he made me stock up the inventory for the first time. I used the scanner gun for the first time too--cool. As long as I’m able to help my dad more with his business, I’ts completely fine with me. plus, it’s cool that I learned something new. I’m pretty sure that in time, I could probably do one whole shipment by myself.
Uncle Patrick also came all the way from New York to visit his mom (my auntie). it was good catching up with him again. the family also came that night too and we all had dinner
Still adjusting to being back here from Hawaii... tbh, today was just a lazy day. I took two naps and stayed home most of the day. But we had sushi boat for dinner and that was pretty cool. I’m also excited that I only have three days of class left. then, I can enjoy the rest of my summer. AND NOW, here I am typing this. And it’s pretty late (3:39 tp be exact) so I’m just gonna crash now
