May Allah steal from you All that steals you from Him.

Are you Following The Crowd?
Are you Following The Crowd?
When ‘Umar bin al-Khattab [رضي الله عنه] was walking in the market, he passed by a man who was supplicating,
اللهم اجعلني من القليل اللهم اجعلني من القليل “O Allaah, make me from the few! O Allaah make me from the few!” So ‘Umar said to him, “Where did you get this du`a’ (supplication) from?” And the man said, “Allaah in His Book says: وَقَليلٌ مِن عِبادِيَ الشَّكورُ ‘And few of My servants are grateful.’ [Saba’:13]”
So ‘Umar wept and admonished himself, “The people are more knowledgeable than you, O Umar! O Allaah make us from Your ‘few’ servants.”
Sometimes when you advise someone to leave a sin, they respond with “But everybody does it, it’s not just me!” But if you look for the words “most people” in the Qur’an, you will find that most people - ولكن اكثرهم لا يعلمون “And however most people do not know” [7:187];
ولكن أكثرهم لا يشكرون - “and most people do not show gratitude” [2:243]; and
And most people do not believe” [11: 17].
And if you look for “most of them”, you will find: وَأَنَّ أَكثَرَكُم فاسِقونَ - “defiantly disobedient” [5 :59]; و لكن أكثرهم يجهلون - “ ignorant” [6:111]; and
So be of the “few”, whom Allaah says about them:
وَقَليلٌ مِن عِبادِيَ الشَّكورُ - “And few of My servants are grateful.” [Saba’:13]; and
But none had believed with him, except a few.” [11:40]
In the Gardens of Bliss: many from the past and a few from later generations.” (Al-Waqi'ah:12-14)
Ibn al-Qayyim [رحمه الله] said, “Go on the path of truth and do not feel lonely because there are few who take that path, and beware of the path of falsehood and do not be deceived by the vastness of the perishers.”

DAILY DUA
Dua and remembrance to be said at any time #17
Translation
O Allah, I ask You to inspire me to do good deeds, and to abstain from bad deeds, and to love those who are poor, and to forgive me and have mercy on me, and if You wish a trial for Your servants, then make me die before falling into it.
And I ask You to make me love You and to love those who love You, and to love the actions that get me closer to Your love.

Things may not be working out for you right now. But trust that He has a greater story for you than you can ever imagine.
Ali: *in a rush to head to a meeting* I'll just pray when I get back.
Ali: .....wait no this is how every story starts where the person ends up dying.
Nikah and chill
In 1989, George Bush gave a speech about crack. During the speech he pulled out a bag of crack and said “this bag was seized right across the street from the White House in Lafayette park.” Turns out, his speech writers had the idea to pull out a prop during his speech and in order to make it believable they had the DEA plant crack on this random 18 year old black kid. They lured him there. He didn’t even know where the White House or Lafayette park was. When he got there, they arrested them. The plot was discovered by a journalist.
What journalist
Gary Webb
Facts. DC in the ‘80s crack era was wild, the Rayful Edmund era. Government and cops were doing a lot of crooked shit. Cops were killing and beating up Black folks and planting crack on them on a regular basis as well. Dave Chapelle joked about it in his “Killing Them Softly” stand-up, but it was actually a real practice.
Gary Webb died by two shots to the head. It was ruled a suicide. It’s very unusual for a suicide victim to shoot themselves twice ……
And y'all think we just make this shit up. Black life does NOT matter.
I encourage anybody, if they have the desire, to go into psychology, especially Muslims of various ethnic backgrounds. Especially those that are fluent in more languages. It’s obvious (I hope) why it’s important for Muslims to study psychology but one important aspect often not realized is that our parents and “people from back home” simply do not have the right language to address these issues - because it hasn’t been addressed much before (due to taboo or lack of knowledge etc). It is difficult enough to find a Muslim psychologist, but it could be even harder to find one who is not English-speaking, who speaks your native tongue, the language you’re most fluent in speaking. Language is very important, much gets lost in translation and many phrases or words you want to use that describe your health the best might not have an equivalent in another language. I encourage people to study and teach mental health but especially to find ways to translate it into as many languages as possible.
What do ruined people do? Weird shit. This seems to be the consensus of psychoanalysts as far back as Freud and Jung; the traumatized self creates, out of necessity, a system of self-care that is keen to avoid repeat trauma. This makes change difficult; it makes people who’ve had part of their psyches destroyed by unmanageable emotions push people and emotions away, create obstacles, generate unnecessary drama.
“Grief Magic” by Emily Rapp, The Rumpus
I dug through my entire archive to find this quote, scrolling back a few years, because this phrase stuck with me as I find myself doing “weird shit”. I needed to read this essay.
