The full moon, a symbol of abundance, completion, and transformation. The divine feminine was in all her glory tonight. The Goddess was at her fullest expression. The new lunar cycle signaled the need to perform another esbat. So you gathered crystals and water jars that you needed to charge, your tarot deck, the necessary herbs for the spells you wanted to cast, and your book of shadows.
The amulet glistened bright in the pale moonlight. You wrapped your cloak against yourself tighter. You walked for an hour just when it was almost midnight. You knew your destination by heart now, it was an isolated clearing in the forest perfect for you to bask in the shine of the lunar goddess. Non Wiccan people would be scared in such an atmosphere but you found solace and comfort in the darkest of nights.
As you reached your designated spot, you casted a circle that held a pentagram inside, lit five candles one for each side of the star, set down the items that needed to be charged, you dropped down to your knees, clasped your hands together and closed your eyes shut.
“Oh, my mistress of the night! I call for you in wisdom, guidance, beauty, and love. I live to serve you and I live to honor you, for you are my guiding light. Oh my mistress of the night!” You recited out loud, hailing and calling for your goddess.
In all thirty sex years of his living, Arthur kept one secret away from everyone he knew. He wasn’t the trusting type and especially not when it came to his true identity. For him it was probably the ugliest thing about him, not his violently heinous acts, not the murders, not the kidnappings nor the heist he pulled. He would probably volunteer the fact that he is part of the Van der Linde gang over what he truly was. He always suspected that somehow anyone who saw him, saw right through him. He was living under constant paranoia and stress, maybe telling someone who sees him for himself would benefit but he wouldn’t do as much as entertain that thought. With the approach of the new full moon, his frustration grew stronger, nonetheless his animalistic nature, which only led to more destruction and chaos. He was a cold blooded killer, and with the new moon rising he was a monster.
You shuffled your tarot cards, tapped on the back of the deck, and asked Hecate—the moon personified—what was in store for you.
You closed your eyelids, shuffled your cards again. As you felt three cards dropping, you pealed your eyes open.
The Devil was in the center of it all, grinning right at you, two lovers chained to him. Then The Moon herself emerged, with her wolf and her dog, her two towers, and her split ground. Lastly, it was The Knight of Wands, his armor shiny in the moonlight, his presence imposing, while rearing on his horse.
This pairing wasn’t what you expected from the reading. Selene is laying it all out to you, clear and loud. A lustful connection was on its way. An energy that is forbidden, intoxicating, and tempting. It was as clear as day, on the horizon there was deception, obsession, seduction, desire, and secret affairs. Someone driven by dark energy, reckless, fiery, and bad, bad news.
You hate to admit it—even to yourself—but the reading aroused you to no end, but you pushed that thought aside, for now, and continued with your ritual.
You put back your deck in your bag, and pulled out your grimoire. You flicked over the pages, searching for your protection spell—maybe you would cast a love spell after that sensual combination of cards you just got.
Your thoughts were easily interrupted by a strong wind that blew your lit candle, scattered your crystals, and turned pages until it landed on a page about a ruby’s properties —the quintessential stone of passion, seduction, and sexual power. You gulped at that. As if things weren’t laid out bare already, this just made it downright obvious.
Wolves were howling at the moon in the distance, the wind picked up its pace, the rustling of trees was the most prominent sound, and thunder crackled through the night’s black robe.
Footsteps falling down on the dead grass and the yellow leaves, Arthur made his way away from the tree he hitched his horse to —the last thing he wanted to do is hurt the poor animal.
He fought back against his turning, at least until he was far away, and isolated. He reached a somewhat raised surface, looked around his surroundings, found nothing to interrupt him, looked down at his hand, found his claws already retracted, and let a bloodcurdling scream escape from his larynx.
He took a much needed breath after that. Suddenly, his heightened sense of smell picked up something or someone’s odor not from far away he took multiple consecutive with whiffs and he, for the first time ever couldn’t stop himself. There was no denying that he found himself addicted to this certain smell. Arthur never had a mate in all of his life. Sure there were a few women here and there, but they only entertained the human side of him. None of them could scratch even the tip of the iceberg that his character was. They didn’t know what he was the beast that hid inside of him and that beast has woken up for the first time ever. Like a predator, he followed the trail of this certain someone. Arthur or rather human Arthur couldn’t control his animalistic side anymore. He needed to track down and take for himself this person.
You heard a spine-chilling howl from a close distance you’re already done with your esbat. You were gathering your things inside of your satchel, you stood up and you wiped the circle that you casted.
You felt as if you were being watched you turned around, but you found nothing. You tried to hurriedly grab your things and leave the site, but you couldn’t shake off the feeling away. Maybe your mind was playing tricks on you after the cards that you pulled whatever it was You didn’t want to stay any longer in this spot. You looked around again and nothing. Not even a single shadow. Just you all alone in this ominous scenery.
When Arthur reached the source of the odor he found you. And right now you looked like the most delicious prey ever. He was ten feet away from you hiding behind the tree, waiting for the perfect moment so he could bounce on you and never let you go. He could taste your fear from this hideout and he relished in it. You compared to him looked like the most fragile porcelain doll that he landed his eyes on. He could have you right here and there, no one to come to you and no one to free you from his claws. But, what’s the fun in that. So, he decided to let you go, for now, he liked the chase more than the prize, even as his other self. He watched you made your way away from the spot that was previous occupied by you. Once you were out of sight, he stalked his way towards that spot and lied down on the dirt you once casted your circle on. He smirked to himself, only your smell filling his surroundings, and that made the beast in him content. He couldn’t recall when he fell asleep on that same spot, last night, but he was craving you, and he would make sure that he is satiated. He mentally cursed himself for letting himself be at ease like that, for he needed to find where you lived, and how many people he needed to eliminate to have you all to himself. Your smell has already dissipated into the air, and mixed with nature’s.
He got up, patted down his clothes, and made his way back to his horse.
Over the next few days, the gunslinger couldn’t keep you off his mind, he wanted to return to where he found you, but Dutch kept busying him with missions.
All of this was new to him, he found himself filling up his journal with drawing and images of you —sure he did sketch people that peaked his interest— but you were already racking up a good amount of pages.
“What’s gotten into you, Morgan found someone to keep your warm cowpoke?” Micah said, taunting him.
“Get lost Micah I ain’t got time f’you.”Arthur replied biting back a so deserved insult, but he knew better and was aware of rules when it came to gang members fighting.
“Hah, as if anybody with a brain would want some no life dumbass like you!” Micah taunted him even more.
“I had enough of you!” Arthur couldn’t keep controlling himself and he launched right at Micah , grabbing him by the collar and shoving him against a tree. “Listen here Bell, either you leave me alone or I’ll crack your skull right open right now, right here. Ya hear me!” he shoved him away and made his way a bit far away from camp so he could collect himself.
At the edge of Horseshoe Overlook, Arthur was perched up on a log, reflecting on the mess that he had become after he saw you that night. You nestled yourself right into his very being, enslaved every part of his brain, and never wanted to let go.
He felt like a fool for what you make him go through. He was so unlike himself can’t keep himself in self in check, can’t go a second without thinking about you, can’t stop writing about you in his journal, and couldn’t bring himself to focus on tasks at hand nor could he keep his hand steady while aiming or pulling the trigger. Hell, even Micah noticed something off about him! And the thought of any gang member catching up to his secret obsession with you terrified him. Maybe, he was even possessive of you or the thought of them seeing you when you were completely his. He had to do something about this, and also something about the pent up tension that grew at the thought of under his pants.
He dedicated most of his time looking for you, retracing back your steps, trying to pick your sweet smell again, but to no avail. He started to lose hope in finding you. Maybe, you wouldn’t spare an ugly poor bastard like himself, you were a goddess among men in his eyes, but he would get on his knees and worship the ground that you walk on if you let him. Your essence, if he even could encapsulate it with words, was purely sensible. Maybe, this old bastard doesn’t deserve to be with you, but he would make sure to not let anyone else taint your beauty.
He was making his way back to camp after a fruitless search for you. He spotted a quaint homestead, the lights were out, and it looked like it was empty. An easy job that would be, and a little more money never hurt nobody.
So, as quiet as a mouse, he made his way towards the back door, picked the locked and got in.
Before he could take in his surroundings, someone hit him on the back of his head, knocking him unconscious.
When he woke up, he found himself chained to a tree, not far away from the homestead he tried to rob.
“Great, Morgan. Look at you, stupid bastard. Gunslinger, my ass.” He scoffed, mocking himself.
“You finally woke up!” A feminine voice said from beside him.
He turned and he was met with the most breathtaking sight he ever dared lie his eyes on him. It was you, the beauty that hunted his being, for the past two months. And, now, you weren’t so scared of him, you stood your ground, tall, and confident.
“What should I do with you now?” You asked him.
“Whatever you wish, princess. I am all yours.” He confessed.
“You think you’re smart, huh?” You said, rather confused by his words.
“I ain’t, princess. I don’t reckon I am.” He looked up ahead to the trees in front of him, avoiding your gaze.
You couldn’t come up with an answer after his words. All you could think of is how weird he sounded, right now.
Something was suspicious, a lot of things were, it seemed.
“Cat got your tongue, princess?” His smirk was wide as he taunted you.
“Oh, don’t call me that!” You argued.
“Why not, you look like a princess but a goddess seemed to do you more justice, to be frank?” He argued back, his eyes betraying the astonishment he tried to hide.
“I’m no goddess, you’re insane!” You scoffed at him. You couldn’t help it, but this stranger’s words made your ears red from embarrassment.
“Look at you, princess, blushing just over a few words.” He teased you, and damn was he good at it.
“Shut up, already or-…”
He quickly cut you off, taunting you even more.“Or what, princess, you would knocking up with a pan again?”
You took a deep breath, and made your way back to the house not wanting to entertain any of his bullshit.
“Cmon, princess, don’t leave this old fool alone!” He called after you.
You didn’t know what to do with the man chained up in your backyard. You weren’t a violent person, you really didn’t want to hurt him or harm him, but did he deserve to be left out there, no water, no food for a breaking in?
You pulled your tarot deck, you hadn’t done a reading since the esbat that you got weirdly scared in, out of nowhere.
Only this time, you decided on a four cards spread. You asked the spirits about the man in your backyard, closed your eyes, shuffled the cards, and let them come one by one.
You opened your eyes, arranged the spread, and the meaning instantly clicked.
The Devil, The Lovers, Death, and Strength.
This promised person you saw in your previous reading, is now here, full of fire, and obsession. Things were about to change, this clandestine affair was about to begin, fate was pulling you two together, and you needed to tame the beast —you didn’t know what to make of the last part, maybe this man was hiding something dark and messed up under those charming words of his.
This was foolish you thought to yourself as you made your way back to him, holding a tray of food and a jug of water for the stranger to replenish his energy.
“Welcome back, princess. You brought this for little old me, I’m flattered m’ lady!” This gesture made his cold heart smile, maybe you were gonna have mercy on his ugly old self.
“I wasn’t going to let die here and ruin my garden with the stench.” You said, not even believing your own words because that’s what you clearly thought, you totally don’t find that stupid grin attractive.
You knelt down in front of him, putting the canteen between his lips.
“Thanks plenty, princess!” He said, closing his eyes feeling his thirst disappear with the drops of water.
You stayed silent, grabbed the bowl of stew in one hand and using the other to feed him.
“This is better than what they got at camp, you put Pearson’s stew to shame, princess!” He commented tasting the delicious, warm, and savory liquid.
You wondered what this camp he was talking about is; who this Pearson person was.
“Say, princess, what made you wanna take care of this cowboy?” He questioned, perplexed by your act of kindness.
“I am not a violent person nor do I want to torture someone.” You answered, truthfully. You honestly weren’t looking to torment anyone, much less this man.
Arthur was taken by surprise at your words. This just confirmed to him how much of a genuine person you were; how you were too good for him; how he didn’t want to stain you with the blood that filled his hands.
You continued feeding him in silence, wondering what made him go quiet all of a sudden.
Against your better judgment, you let that man go. And, surprisingly, he was quiet once you set him free, just scoffing and grunting, not sparing you a single glance as if you’re the one who was in the wrong. You were a bit put off by that, but you held your ground and said nothing.
It’s been a few weeks, since you caught Arthur. He felt like a lowlife after the fact that you treated him with such kindness. He was a cold blooded killer, no mercy, no compassion for anyone that even dared to look at him the wrong way, and yet you still fed him, gave him water, and let him go with nothing but a warning.
You in the other hand, you couldn’t stop thinking about him. At first, he was acting all charming, and he teased you to no end. Then, when you freed him from the chains around him, he was a completely different man, he was ill-tempered, disgruntled, and he said some hurtful words to you—he went on about something in the words of “naive little girl who he won’t hurt just because of how pathetic she seemed to him”. Needless to say that his words stung, a lot, especially after all those stupid nicknames he kept calling you. It was plain and simple, he played you like a fiddle, charmed you by a few words so he would get what he wanted, and he did, you let him walk away with no repercussions for him to face.
You shut those thoughts down, not wanting to deal with them in the moment as you continued making your way towards Valentine. You needed to get some supplies from the general store; food; herbs; incense; candles, for your next ritual. The next lunar cycle was close and your stock and provisions were running low. You spotted a wanted poster hanged with push pins on the post office’s board. You decided to take a look at the wanted man’s photo just to be safe.
Your mouth was hung open, your eyes wide, your pulse quickened, you stayed glued to your spot.
‘Arthur Morgan, wanted dead or alive, $5000 reward!’ Those words written in bold letters on the poster.
You staggered back, your heart was in your throat, your vision blurred for a second there, you were trying to keep yourself steady, you took a few breaths to try and calm yourself down, and you made your way towards a nearby bench as steadily as your feet could manage.
Moments passed just replaying the words you saw. You couldn’t believe it, you didn’t want to believe your own eyes. The dark aura that you felt loomed around him was undeniable now. How could you not trust your intuition? Just what has he done to have a bounty that high? What was he planning to do with you?
You feared the worst would have came from that man if you hadn’t played your cards right.
Arthur, on the other hand, couldn’t curb his insatiable hunger for you. Took him a week or two for animalistic aspect of his identity to get over how pathetic his other half reacted to you. And, now, he was on the hunt for you.
He was watching you from behind the trees as you got ready to hit town. You were alone, looked vulnerable and he could easily strike at the moment, but he knew better that to be reckless you were feistier than you looked and he wasn’t exactly sloppy when it came to his handiwork.
So, he watched you as you became a small dot in his field of vision, and he stalked his way to your back door.
He picked the lock combination —which wasn’t that hard of a job for him— and made his way inside.
He was instantly hit by your odor that made him gag a little not out of disgust but more so out of overwhelmingness of it all.
The cabin wasn’t big or anything show-stopping, tidy, well maintained, you were an organized person for sure. He mostly found jars sealed with wax, all sorts of herbs, some leather bound books on the coffee table, a plethora of candles, some kind of ruins engraved on the walls, all kinds of crystals, it doesn’t need a genius to figure out what you did with all of these things.
You were a witch, but it really wasn’t his place to judge anybody’s religious beliefs—he wasn’t a nonbeliever but he wasn’t a frequent churchgoer either. But, it’s safe to assume that you weren’t very vocal about who you worship. You too kept a secret like him, he understood you, and Arthur felt understood, he wasn’t the only one who had to hide something related to his identity, nonetheless if it was the person he imprinted on.
He continued snooping through your belongings, opening every drawer and cabinet, trying to get a glimpse of your life from an outsider’s view, he looked through your neatly folded clothes, he sat on your bed, smelled your pillow and Arthur inhaled deeply your sweet smell that he breathed life in him, he lied in your place sniffing the pillows and hugging them to himself. He felt at peace.
Arthur decide to get a little souvenir from your house, nothing really satisfied him nor his sent, until he spotted your laundry basket, in the corner of the room.
He looked through the pile, most of it was just shirts and corsets —things that you would notice quickly were gone and he wouldn’t be able to hide from the other gang members— till he pulled out, from far down, a pair of your panties. A smirk instantly made its way to his face, this was the perfect trophy small, easy to hide, unnoticeable-…he lifted to his nose and he couldn’t help by growl in response…it smelt better than any of your other belongings, he swiped his tongue over it, and his cock throbbed at your deliciousness. He hit the jackpot with this find!
He quickly made his way out calm and easy just like how he got in and headed back to camp.
You got the things you needed as quickly as possible, and headed back home. A protection spell was on the top of your to-do list for the esbat tonight.
You approached your little cabin, a basket filled with supplies in hand.
The air shifted, it felt different, metallic, and grey. The ruins of the ward were upturned, candles flickering in and out, a few portraits that hung on your walls fell off, your house was protesting. It was evident, someone or something had broken him, and it didn’t feel human. It had to be a mystical creature or a legendary beast. But it was meant to stop dark spirits too. So, the intruder was neither human nor spiritual.
The magic threshold that you had knitted together was unable to detect the maliciousness of the presence, as if whomever it were, were tied to you in a deep sense.
You had no bloodline left and no spirit tied to you neither. It had to be someone who could claim you as theirs without your prior knowledge, but who could it be?
Arthur dreaded going through new lunar cycles, but the animal inside of him didn’t leave him much choice. He had spent the rest of his evening away from camp and in a hotel room he booked to get some privacy. What was he doing you ask? Fucking your panties all day long, he was like a horn dog-…he is a horn dog, but damn did it feel good to stroke his big cock with your underwear, imagining how it would feel like for it to be sliding in and out of the walls of your pussy, feeling his cum and your slick mix together, and run down your thighs!
You were getting ready, waiting for Hecate to shine fully through the darkness of the night.
All of a sudden, you heard a knocking on the door.
You opened it, and to your surprise, it was none other than Arthur Morgan on your front porch.
“Arthur!” You exclaimed in an uncertain tone.
“I need you, princess!” He said desperately.
He cut you off. “I need you! I have been thinking about you! I am not myself when I’m not around you! Please, please, please let me in”
You stood aside letting him in.
He staggered forward, balancing himself on the table.
“Is everything okay?” You rushed to his side.
He nodded hurriedly.
Arthur was changing and knew it was a bad idea to come here to you, but his hungry appetite for you was too intense to keep at bay.
He stood up, stepping closer to you.
“What are you doing?” You questioned his unexpected movement.
And then he pulled you closer to his body.
“Can I do this?” He said, drawlingly.
“Do what?” You asked.
He kissed you, using his actions rather than his words.
You pulled back, taken aback by his kiss.
“Did I do something wrong, princess?”
“No-…uhm…no…no! I was just surprised by this is all”
“Ahhh…then you don’t mind me doing more, do ya?”
Your ears flushed red from embarrassment, shaking your head no.
“Say, how do ya know my name, princess?” Arthur finally noticed that you called him by his name when he came.
“I saw your wanted poster in Valentine.” You confessed.
“Oooh, is that right?” He taunted you, not really fazed by that fact.
You couldn’t come up with an answer for that.
“Well, now i ain’t got much secrets to hide from ya.” He chuckled, mostly to himself.
He didn’t wait for another second to crash his lips to yours, sucking on your bottom lip hungrily, his teeth clashing into yours as his slid his tongue into your mouth, your hand tangled with his while his other one rested on your ass, grabbing and pulling you closer to him, your heartbeat quickened as you heard it beating in your ears.
You pulled back again, but this time to take a breather.
You looked up at Arthur, his eyes were glowing red, you were too preoccupied to question the logic behind that.
He didn’t waste time and just scooped you up, wrapping your legs around your middle. He settled you down on your mattress, towering over you. He smirked as he looked down on you with a wolfish grin. You started to unbutton your shirt and he quickly stopped you.
“Now, princess, you can’t do as you please, M’ the one taking the lead here.” He commanded, making it clear who was in charge here.
He tore off your dress with his talons , growling at the sight of your indecency.
“Look at you, princess, what a beauty you are!” He praised before starting to nibble and bite all around your neck while cupping your breasts with his hands.
You suppressed a moan at his endeavors. “Cmon, princess, don’t hold back for me!” He said at the sight of you stifling your sighs.
He ripped his own clothes, this time. He was already changing, and black fur dominated his back.
He tore your panties off discarding them somewhere on the floor.
Breath hitched in your throat, and you intertwined your hand with one of his.
“You’re already all wet for me, princess.” He admired, as he teased your entrance.
“Arthur!” You moaned out his name, as his fingers began massaging out your throbbing cunt.
Once satisfied with the teasing, he put his face between your legs, starting by licking your inner thighs first, sending a chilling sensation down your spine.
“Arthur!” You grasped out his name as he flicked your clit with his tongue.
He grinned to himself, enjoying the fact that you’re a mess because of him, then he continued running his tongue all over your pussy.
Your hands curled around the sheets as Arthur’s sensual tongue movement hit you in waves of pleasure. You couldn’t handle any more of his teasing, you needed him right now badly.
Arthur sensing your desperation, doubled down on his ministrations, pulling his tongue in and out of your wet pussy as he massaged with the pad of his finger your clit.
Your head fell back on your pillow. He was touching you in all the right places as if he knew you like the back of his hand and you couldn’t help but moan out at the thought.
“Arthur, fuck! I’m going to come already!” You breathed it out, the night was still young and you didn’t want to put an end to your high just from being eaten out, you had more resolve than that did you?
Your thoughts were interrupted by Arthur picking up the pace. God, he wanted to break you tonight didn’t he?
Your vision went black as your legs shook, you couldn’t suppress your moans, you gripped the sheets tighter, rolling your head back further, you felt your pleasure come crashing down. Damn him and his abilities!
Arthur pulled out from between your thighs, swiping two fingers over the warm liquid that coated your cunt now. He licked one of them, taking his time as his tasted you on his lips, and he shoved the other between yours instead.
“God, princess, you are sweeter than a cherry pie!” He praised, and you couldn’t help but feel blood rush to your cheeks.
He smirked at the sight of you, undone before him because of him. He has been craving you for weeks now and he isn’t satiated yet.
You were still trying to calm yourself down from the rush that surrounded you, but Arthur wasn’t done yet.
“Cmon, princess. This old man gotta have his fun too.”
He pulled down his zipped pants, taking his sweet time.
“You ain’t eager now are you, princess?” He said as he pulled in and out your dripping entrance, bringing some more of your sweet juices.
You moaned out, and breathed. “Please, Arthur! I can’t take it anymore.”
He only chuckled at that, continuing to bruise up your cunt.
You couldn’t do nothing but plead for him to stop the teasing—you liked it to be frank but man did you want the real deal already.
Arthur, on the other hand, was having the time of his life watching you squirm and beg for him.
“It’s okay, princess! I’ll give you what you want. Just relax, and be a good girl f’me.”
He stopped playing with your pussy, and situated his throbbing cock right at your entrance—not fully in yet—just enough to make you roll back in pleasure.
He really was gonna make you work for it, wasn’t he?
Arthur was enjoying this way too much. He imprinted on you long ago, and he sure wasn’t going to rush you guys’ first time together. He has been dreaming of you since the time he saw you and he wanted to experience your body to its fullest. You were his princess after all, and you would get the best of the best.
He put his lips on you savoring yours. Your breathing became more shallow, sinking into him more as he put his hands on your lower back to draw you closer, bringing you down to settle on his hard member.
You whimpered into his sloppy kisses, parting your legs more to give him easier access to you.
He couldn’t help but growl in your ear as he saw you be so submissive for him and greedy for him to give you more.
He felt your walls tighten around his cock, making his back arch while his breathing got more ragged and quivered as he pressed himself deeper inside of you.
The sound of his skin clashing against yours, and both of your moaning filled the room.
Arthur is no ordinary man, that was the repeated thought on your head before your mind fogged up from all of the pleasure he was giving you.
But he sure loved you like a man, rough and possessive, sloppy and calculated.
You could feel his warm liquid filling up your pussy and spilling out into the mattress.
Your vision went dark once again. You opened your eyes up as you felt Arthur placing sloppy and rough kisses on your neck.
“It’s cold, princess.” He looked up to meet your gaze, you didn’t need anymore explaining, you knew what he meant by that.
You two slept like that all night, tangled together in those sheets while he warmed up his cock inside your cunt.
Your relationship with Arthur was something to say the least. He wasn’t like any lovers you had before, he kept you at arms length most of the time at the beginning. But you couldn’t give up on him just yet, you loved him too much for you to be able to let go. It look a lot of effort on both sides for him to warm up to you. He told you what he did and who he was, and he was so frightened that you would run the other direction when you heard him out. But you didn’t. You stayed.
He wanted to be different for you, much gentler than he usually is, to make you feel safe with him and at ease by his side.
And now, here he was, having a picnic with you on a field near Valentine, your idea of course. You said it was your birthday, and you wanted you two to do something nice.
You two were sitting on a blanket. He even got a cake for you, which was unexpected from him, hell he even surprised himself, but he’s trying.
Right now, you were opening a gift he got you, which he kept insisting it wasn’t much and you kept insisting that he’s going soft just to be met by a grumble of disagreement from him.
“Are you serious?” You exclaimed in surprise at the tarot deck in your hands, earning the usual “it’s nothin’, princess” from Arthur.
“You made these yourself! Aww, Arthur that’s so sweet! You shouldn’t have!”
“I wanted to give ya something nice, and figured you would wanna hoard more of those damn card.”
“No, I don’t hoard them!”
“Yes, you do.”
“It’s called collecting!”
“Sure, whatever you please, princess.”
You kissed him on the lips, thanking him for the gift. This rough and though outlaw sure knew how to pull at your heartstrings.
“How about you give us one of those readings of yours?”
That took you by surprise. “Since when were you interested in those?”
“I’m not! Just try my cards, princess.” He lied through his teeth, he always found every ritual you did interesting, and he immortalized you doing them in his journal, but you don’t have to know about that.
You decided to indulge him. You had a love reading in mind, obviously. These were handmade cards from your lover after all.
You shuffled the cards, waiting for three to fall. The Lovers came first naturally, then The Two of Cups followed, and since your partner is none other than the infamous Arthur Morgan himself, the last one was The Devil card.
“The first two, well they’re probably the cards that represent both strong connection and a much stronger chemistry between two people the most in the whole deck-…”
Arthur cuts you off before you finish explaining. “The Devil means that I’m such an obsessed bastard for you, I reckon.”
“Look at you, wolfie, you’re learning!” It tugged at your heart more than anything how observant he was when it came to you in general, and to your beliefs specifically.
“Don’t call me that!” There was no bite nor any warning in his words. You were his precious princess, but you could be annoying sometimes.
“I love you!” You curled up to his side, needing his comfort.
“Shouldn’t we cut this cake already, sweetheart?”
“That’s all you think about don’t you?”
Arthur was an avoidant bastard, but you wouldn’t have any other way.
For now, you will cut the cake, but you’ll draw those three little words out of him later, you always do.

It was your typical Spring evening, the sky with little amount of clouds was a beautiful shade of purple baby pink; the birds were chirping; fields resembled a Claude Monet, flowers bloomed and decorated the meadow with explosions of all kind of colors; the sun wasn’t harsh -it rather was more like a warm blanket that embraced all that was below it- a band of wild horses could be seen galloping in the perfectly green grass, deer were by the lake, some of them drinking the perfectly clear water, and some of them were wetting themselves in the shimmering body.
You being mesmerized by the whole scenery all day, decided to desert the cabin, pack a picnic basket, and head out to the field neighboring the forest where your quaint little home was tucked in -you loved it with all your heart, but the idea of laying in the grass surrounded by all nature’s beauty seemed enticing.
So, you gathered your paper and pen, a small box to store flowers -that you’d probably end up pressing between the pages of your journal, you also put a small bottle of your favorite liquor -fine brandy to be exact- and an assortment of your favorite crackers and dried fruits. With that, you picked a towel to lie on the grass, and made your way out.
The smell of grass filled your senses as you sat down and looked up at the skies above you, basking in the sun. This was your favorite way to welcome Spring, just you and nature, it always felt energizing when you’d just take time to step outside.
You’d admit that you had a certain peculiar interest in flora and fauna. You could call yourself an amateur herbalist, nothing sophisticated to be frank, but you liked mixing different herbs and making concoctions of all sorts; health cures; snake oil; ginseng elixir, and other tonics. Sometimes, you’d just collect plants for the hell of it and keep them a notebook of their own.
You turned your focus to the wild animals, admiring how free they looked, the sight of them had a certain captivating charm to it. Everything comes to life during spring, it felt like. It’s like a force breathed life into every soul on this Earth. You approached the lake and decided to dip your feet in the waters for a few minutes. You would like to think that it was sucking all the bad energy out of you. This was a ritual to you during the season, it felt sacred in its own way. You closed your eyes, and just breathed in and out while listening to the sounds of nature, almost like music to your ears, like delicate notes being played on a piano, like a calming melody one that a mother sings to her-
Then you heard it! A sound similar to something scraping against a tree.
You thought none of it at first, assuming it was an animal rubbing themselves against a tree for a much needed release. But, you heard it again, and again, and again, that’s when you decided to turn around.
Curiosity killed the cat, they said. If you only you didn’t turn, you told yourself.
First, you saw antlers rubbing against a tree. And then, you noticed the rest of the body. It was a man! A man with antlers and fur, shedding his velvet?
You felt sick to your stomach, your breath hitched in your throat, your heart pounded in your chest, your throat dried up, your mind was unable to comprehend or process what was in front of you, and you were frozen in place. You didn’t dare move, too scared to take a step in that thing’s direction.
He? It? Whatever the creature in front of you was hadn’t noticed you yet.
“Was this one of those legendary hybrids?” You thought to yourself.
“Those are nothing but stories to entertain kids!” The logical part of your brain argued back.
But, it’s here, in front of you, moving, breathing, shedding its antlers’ velvet -that scene alone was terrifying on its own! How can it not be real?
You swallowed the lump in your throat, let out a breath, took one step forward. And, that was enough for the creature to notice your presence. Damnit!
Arthur was never one to wander in the open -especially not before the sunset, but he was feeling bold this evening. Oh, bless his poor heart!
He wasn’t naive or reckless. He knew what would happen to him if a human saw him. A hunter tried to hunt him down, before. He barely managed to escape with his shoulder grazed by a bow and arrow. That’s when he swore to never get any near civilization. It would get him killed instantly, but he feared being flaunted around like a circus freak the most.
Arthur stayed glued in his spot, when he saw her staring at him with wide and terrified eyes, like he’s some kind of heinous monster. He never understood why humans wanted to hunt his kind or why they were so scared of him. He was just like them wasn’t he? He was half human after all but why couldn’t he find a place among them? Was he really that horrible to look at? He didn’t see humans much, so maybe he did look below their standards.
You raised your hands up, in hopes that he would understand that you aren’t here to cause him any harm. Damn you and your interest in nature! A person in their right mind would have- should have run the other way. But, maybe it’s too late.
Arthur, in return, didn’t move an inch. You could see that he was terrified too, his bambi eyes were full of fear. Poor thing! You couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. Some people are disgusting and just the thought of what he might have seen made bile run to your throat.
“Hey!” You said in a low, and uncertain tone while approaching him in small steps.
Arthur stayed silent, unmoved.
“I am not here to hurt.” You tried to reassure him, as best as you could.
“Hey…” Arthur, finally, said in an almost unsure but gruff voice while rubbing the back of his neck.
“I didn’t mean to scare you.” You added.
“I didn’t mean to scare you either…s-sorry, miss.” He apologized as quickly as possible, as to not escalate the situation.
“It’s okay. This is just unbelievable! I mean-…Wow! I have never seen anything like you!” You exclaimed, genuinely in awe at the sight of him.
“Thanks…” Arthur responded, unsure of himself. A human not wanting to add him to their collection was a first, especially one who was fascinated by his mere existence nonetheless.
He took a few steps forward and decided to meet you in the middle.
“I’m Arthur.” He introduced himself, sticking his hand forward to you, and running a hand through his hair -one of many nervous gestures he picked over the years.
You shook his hand and introduced yourself back.
Arthur sat with you for what felt like hours. He doesn’t know why he trusted you, but it’s just felt right, and he was dreaming of the day he’d finally have a conversation with a human.
And, you, in return, offered to listen to him. He wasn’t the most talkative, though that’s to be expected. You had many questions about his kind, his lifestyle, his upbringing. And he replied with to the point answers, making sure to keep details to himself. But you didn’t mind that, he was entitled to his privacy. Even though, he kept to himself most things, the conversation wasn’t mundane. You found yourself enjoying it.
You two ended up watching the sunset together in comfortable silence. You gave him a promise to keep his existence a secret, and you were happy to oblige.
Arthur didn’t want your conversation to end, it was the first time he had ever felt seen and heard, you treated him like he was just another normal human, and that was enough for you to earn a special place in his tormented heart, but he knew he had to go back to his cave. This world wasn’t safe for him and it wasn’t safe for you either.
You had a feeling that this meeting wasn’t going to be you guys’ last one or maybe that was just wishful thinking on your part.
Arthur kept a lot of things to himself that one faithful evening, the last thing he wanted was to scare you away. He didn’t tell you how many of humans he killed before to protect himself; how he was just like his father; how his mother was human just like you; how they both ended up being killed; how he found his father’s antlers sawed off and taken as a trophy; how he buried his momma by himself when he was only nine; how much of a mess he is, he kept all of those things to himself, and he never dared to utter a single word about them, ever.
He didn’t want to admit how much he enjoyed talking to you, not even to himself. He felt like a child who finally got what he wanted, but also like a little brat who wasn’t grateful and wanted more, craved more, needed more of you, your presence, you looking at him, his name rolling off your tongue. He wanted to find you again. So, he kept visiting the spot you two sat at, every few days. Unbeknownst to him, you did the same.
It was a rather chilly day, you felt like you were coming down with something, so you picked up a basket and headed out to pick some herbs to make one of your tonics. Your eyes landed on a plant you hadn’t and you picked it without hesitation.
“That’s Oleander Sage. I wouldn’t pick that if I were you, darlin’.” A gruff yet familiar voice said from behind you.
You turned around as quickly as possible. It was him, Arthur.
“Arthur!” You called, but you quickly regretted how so excited you sounded.
“That’s my name, ma’am. Missed me, sweetheart?” He responded, a sly smirk plastered on his face at your excitement.
“What? No…I was just surprised to see you here. What are you up to?” You quickly changed the subject.
“Well I was hunting in the area. You ok, princess, you look exhausted?” His brows furrowed at the tiredness that painted your face.
You bit the inside of your cheek at how easily the nicknames rolled off his tongue. “I think I caught a fever or something of that sort.” You replied not meeting his gaze.
“I reckon that’s not ideal, princess. Here, let me give you a ride on my horse once you’re done. Well if you’d like f’ me to.” He mentally facepalmed himself for being too bold to ask such a thing.
“It’s alright, Arthur. I don’t want to bother you.” You denied his offer quickly, being in his proximity is already a lot let alone riding with him.
“It’s no bother f’me. Cmon, princess.” He began to walk towards his horse, waiting for you to follow.
The ride to your cabin was mostly silent, he let you pet his mare, Bodicea, and he rode in a somewhat slow pace as to not cause any more discomfort for you. He helped you down once you arrived at your destination, minimizing his touch as much as possible. You thanked him dearly, and he left as soon as he came, not wanting to be overbearing.
You haunted his mind, you dominated his thoughts. He felt like an idiot for being all over you after just one meeting. God, have mercy on his heart because he can’t help but need you even more, when you get flustered by his words. God, have mercy on his mind because he doesn’t feel worthy of you, he believes that you deserve a full human being to be by your side, that his presence will only cause you harm, and you were too precious to suffer such faith.
Even the shirt he was wearing when you put your arms around his waist, while you were riding with him, remained untouched, it was a souvenir from you for him now.
He kept visiting you every two days to make sure you’re properly taking care of yourself, he was genuinely concerned for you, but it was also a reason for him to get to see you. However, he never lingered around for long, he was threading warily around you, afraid of ending up with creeping you out.
You being you, always, welcomed him home, gave him some food; some tonics; ammunition, and even kept a fresh batch of baked goods waiting for him.
You were curious about him -in a deeper sense- but you’d never explore in what sense was that exactly.
Your illness cleared up after a week, understandably, Arthur didn’t show up as much as he did, while you were sick. You still waited patiently by the door for his return. You had hope that at least your conversations provided him with some comfort or entertainment that would push him to come back.
It’s been almost a month since you last saw him. You were worried about him for the most part, but also kind of sad at him for just leaving no goodbye no nothing. You still hoped that he was out there, somewhere, alive and breathing. Your feelings damned if it meant he was safe.
You were tending to your garden, it was well over the two months mark now. You didn’t want to think about his whereabouts, it made you sick to your stomach from fretting about him, and you lost your appetite from the sadness.
That’s when you heard sound of galloping from not too far away. Your heart made a leap in your chest, and you just knew in your very being who that was.
He hitched his horse, made his way towards you, hang his head low, and stood right in front of you.
His hair was disheveled, the velvet on his antlers overgrown, his stubble turned to a full beard, his eye circles were prominent, and his shirt was bloody.
“Arthur! Are you ok? Whose blood is that?” You didn’t have time to school your worry as you fretted over him.
“Some hunter’s. M’ sorry for disappearing, princess. M’ sorry for worrying you. But I’m especially sorry for burdening you with my damn existence. M’ not that great to look at. M’ not a normal guy. M’ not worthy of knowing a sweetheart like you. M’ really sorry for falling for you.” He blurted out in one breath, barely giving you time to process one thing before saying another, and his confession just went straight to your heart.
You didn’t know how to answer him and what to exactly answer first.
“Arthur that is not fair! You can’t just say all of that stuff about yourself! You’re more than your antlers and fur, goddamnit! I wish you could see yourself like how I see you!” You told him, trying to comfort him and ease up his mind as much as you could.
Arthur was stunned at your words. He never felt like he was more than his appearance, and to hear you say that actually broke his sheltered heart’s defenses.
As for his confession, you took your chance, while his lips were parted, and crashed yours into his, kissing him with as much ferocity as you could muster in that moment.
He was taken aback by your move, but he didn’t hesitate for a second to return the gesture back.
That night, you slept in his arms, and he felt at ease for the first time since his parents passed away.
Arthur Morgan was like putty in your hands, he wasn’t afraid of being himself with you, he swore to himself that he would anything to protect what you two have, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
oh arthur....
Maybe I should write a deer hybrid!arthur fic or hc 🙆🏻♀️
a little nap after a nice swim in the lake✨🌼
(soft) arthur morgan aftercare headcanons <3
arthur immediately cocoons the two of you in blankets after sex, regardless of how hot and sweaty the both of you are.
touch, touch, touch - he wants to hold you close and feel your skin against his. gentle forehead kisses, tracing soft patterns across your body with his calloused fingers, braiding your hair, spooning, etc.
despite not being super verbal for a long while after sex, arthur will ask to make sure you're okay in that raspy drawl of his. "you alright, darlin'? i didn't hurt ya, did i?" he's a bit overbearing with it, but he just can't stand the thought of accidentally harming you in any way.
arthur always takes the opportunity to sketch you in your blissed-out and half-lidded state. pages of his journal are dedicated to drawings of you curled up in bed next to him flushed, sleepy, and content as hell.
acts of service - arthur does everything in his power to make you feel comfortable afterwards. he'll get you water or food, clean you up with a cool washcloth or draw a bath, massage your sore muscles... literally anything.
sometimes, arthur will hum softly as the two of you are cuddling.
this man definitely keeps some salve on hand for any love bites or marks he might have left on you.
arthur reads to you to help you fall asleep afterwards. he knows how much you love hearing his inner thoughts through his journal entries, so oftentimes he'll read you a recent passage. other times, he'll read from a book the two of you are enjoying together.
also, he definitely uses your chest as a pillow (he’s a silly man that loves boobs).
a/n: i love soft arthur sm, he consumes 98% of my thoughts 😔 howeverrr, i’m thinking of potentially writing some low-honor arthur stuff as well?? idk why that makes me so nervous lol, but lmk if you'd like a low-honor version of this and i will try 👀
