omg I just need you to know that I LOVED the latest chapter of your fic. like, I used to really want emma to end up with faramir, mostly because their chemistry was insane🔥 but now I need legolas to be endgame.

not only because he literally prayed for the gift of men — which already destroyed me, emotionally — but because he talked about their future children, and that will always, always make me soft😭

omg you have no idea what it means to read this 🥹 the fact that you came in team Faramir is perfect — his chemistry with Emma HAD to be that real. and yes, the prayer for the Gift of Men destroyed me too while I was writing it. a being that ancient willing to do that… idk, it says everything about where he is right now 💚

after reading the latest chapter, I'm AFRAID that the endgame I want for emma might not be the one in the story 🫪

i don't want to admit defeat for team faramir, but if she ends up with legolas, would you write an AU where she ends up with our captain?

I hear you and I get it 🫂 I won't spoil which way it goes, but both paths are real and neither one gets mistreated. And hey 👀 I've got drafts of an AU of "what if she'd chosen the other path"... so maybe the ending you want exists too, even if it's in another timeline.

My favorite scenes in the LotR books are the ones where Legolas has vital information and just decides it's not important to share.

Like when Gandalf spent literal PAGES trying to figure out why the vibes were off in Moria and Legolas chimes in with just "it's a balrog :) that shit's evil :) we're so fucked :)" like what do you MEAN you knew already and just didn't tell him??

Or at the beginning of Two Towers when Aragorn thinks there's something nearby so he puts his ear to the ground to listen, and then like 10 minutes later is like "hmmm i hear horses" and Legolas is just like "mm yep. there are 105 blond bitches with spears" like you just let your friend put his face in the dirt and you can SEE them??

I’m so happy with the first comments on chapter 31 of my LOTR fanfic because, yes: I did want it to hurt lol.

I wanted this chapter to leave that awful silence after seeing something that cannot be unseen. I wanted Legolas’ decision to feel heavy. The prayer, the fear, the love with no clean way out.

So reading that it stirred emotions, that it hurt, that the scene landed the way it was meant to… truly, thank you 🥹✨

Chapter 31 was basically pain with flowers on top.

Legolas climbed a half-burned tree in Minas Tirith to ask Eru for something no one is meant to ask for: the Gift of Men.

Emma falls in a cave in Mordor. The Palantír shows her broken, far away, smiling. No one knows if she's breathing.

And in a tent, before the march to the Black Gate, someone finally says out loud why Emma crossed.

"I don't want an eternity she can't dwell in."

A prayer that doesn't demand. A father who doesn't sleep. A white flower that appears where there was nothing.

He asks to be able to lose.

"I do not want Valinor if she is not there. I do not want the sea. I do not want the light of the West, if her soul has left the world by a door forbidden to my own people. But if she goes there, I do not want to remain anywhere else. Even if there is nothing on the other side. Even if there is nothing at all."

In chapter 31, Legolas finally says out loud what he's been carrying since Lórien.

Emma is in Mordor. Here, on the other side of the world, all they have is a stone that shows too much and tells too little.

And that night, Legolas climbs a tree to speak to the silence.

"I have no song. I have no rite. I don't have Lúthien's voice. All I have is this: I love her."
