Thanks so much for answering my post a little while back! I had some follow up questions to narrow my search. I'm trying to focus on series that are completed, since I love angst but LOL not suspense. I also am interested in knowing if you know any series with a fantasy bent? Like demons and ghosts and the like. I read Hana to Akuma if that gives you an idea. I also enjoyed Wolf Girl and the Black Prince (even if his personality is... less than stellar LOL) Thanks so much, you're a great blog.

Fruits Basket, That Wolf Boy is Mine, Honey Blood, Millennium Snow, Red River (which would be hard to buy volumes of, but if you’re just reading scans it’s fine. This is an OOP manga, however, it’s super worth it to buy the set), Please Save my Earth (another OOP series, but also very very good), Kamisama Kiss, Black Bird, Wolf’s Rain, Natsume’s Book of Friends, The Water Dragon’s Bride, Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts, and Wake Up Sleeping Beauty. 

Most of those are complete! Let me know if you want to know more.

I meant to talk about more than the one in my comment, so I hope it’s okay to tag you. Here are a few of my favorites:

Skip Beat - This one isn’t really typical. I will say it’s long and it’s still ongoing. Recently the 40th volume came out here in the US with the 41st slated for September. It’s essentially about a girl who is in love with a boy who wants to be a rock singer and get famous in Tokyo, so he decides to abandon his parents inn in Kyoto and moves there and the MC, Kyoko moves with him and takes care of him as he gets famous. They have a falling out and she swears revenge on him that she will become more famous and overshadow him. So she gets into acting. It’s honestly hilarious and filled with drama and it’s definitely in my top 5. 

Ouran High School Host Club - You may heard of this one, since it was a pretty popular anime. The manga does go on further than the anime does if you’ve seen it. It’s about a girl who gets into this elite school on a scholarship and when trying to find a quiet place to study, stumbles on a host club. She ends up breaking a vase and has to pay the club back by hosting 1000 customers. It’s pretty silly and definitely a cute romance. it’s also filled with quite a bit of drama and there is enough of a difference from the anime for it to be worth your while if you’ve seen it. 

Kimi Ni Todoke - I mentioned this one, but didn’t go that far into it. It’s more typical in the sense that an outcast girl falls for a popular boy, but little does she know that he feels the same way since getting directions from her before school starts! It’s one of those infuriating stories where you just want them to get together, but a bunch of stuff keeps happening, not to mention the things they say to each other get taken the wrong way. But the relationship building with the MC, Sawako and her friends and her crush is actually really good. It’s 28 volumes long and the next one is due out in the next couple of months. Honestly, it’s really good and also one of my favorites. Sawako is the ghost girl and she can tell the future in her school, so the students are mostly afraid of her, but her dream is to have friends. It’s so cute. This one also has an anime. 

Ao Haru Ride - Is finally being published in English, which made my day when I heard it. It’s about a girl and boy who start to act on their feelings but then the boy suddenly has to move and so the girl decides to forget being cute and just kind of becomes like a slob and hangs out with the miscreants in her class. The boy comes back, but she wonders if it’s really him? It goes into the story of their past and what happened. Lots of drama between some love triangle interests. I haven’t actually completely finished it, because I couldn’t find the scans... but honestly it’s okay. I’m just excited it’s coming to the US. Of course there is anime for this. XD 

I have a few others that I like, but I don’t want this to get to long. I tried to give some pretty vague premises just so I don’t give away to much, but hopefully these aren’t any you’ve read. A couple others would be: Say I love you, Strobe Edge, Fruits Basket, Mermaid Boy, Wake up Sleeping Beauty, Otoman, Kamisama Kiss, Orange, Dreamin’ Sun, Happy Marriage, SP Baby, Your lie in April, and Horimiya. 

A lot of the stuff I read is Shoujo. If you ever want to ask questions you can. Eventually I would like to write more about the stuff I read in much better explanations, but hopefully this helps. Sorry for the length!

Ao Haru Ride. Blue Spring Ride is the US Translation of the name for the anime. The Manga, up until recently, has been in Japanese only. I’m not sure why this particular Shoujo has touched me the way it has, but because I’ve always wanted it in English, I’ve written to Viz and posted everywhere about wanting it. To no avail. Until now, that is. I actually bought the set in Japanese and planned on translating it myself. I still plan to do that so I can learn the language before traveling there. Anyway... 

The general synopsis is:

Futaba Yoshioka used to be an attractive and popular middle-schooler—well liked by the opposite sex, but ostracized by the girls. Nevertheless, she was able to brush all that off, because the only opinion that truly mattered to her was that of Kou Tanaka, a classmate with whom she shared a shelter from rain once, followed by quite a few other precious and significant memories. She even succeeded at making plans to meet with the quiet and innocent boy at the summer festival, but a simple misunderstanding, and Tanaka's subsequent disappearance, left her walking the halls of her school friendless. Now in high school, Futaba is not your typical adolescent girl. Determined to become a class favorite this time, she avoids all unwanted attention and, instead of acting cute and feminine, only stands out through her tomboyish behavior and disheveled look. But still, her world is soon turned upside down when the only boy she ever liked unexpectedly comes into her life once again—except he goes by the name of Kou Mabuchi now, and it is not his name alone that has gone through a sea change.

Anyway, I can’t wait for October to get my hands on the first volume of this manga. I’ve read some of ‎Io Sakisaka other works like Stobe Edge, and also loved it. I can’t help myself. I am a sucker for romances.
