day 6: rocky ruins

"You evil fucking cat," Acorn panted. "I should've known it would come to this. Get down here!"

The black cat leapt atop a crumbling pillar. From its lofty perch, it began licking its white paws, watching as the pony below stood trembling with barely restrained fury. "You should always be wary of what you wish for,” the cat purred, “Why would you, a being of unlimited potential, want to squander all your time with little adventurers? Going on a quaint little romps across the countryside? Having picnics? Going fishing?”

“We took down. A sea monster.”

The cat waved a paw. “That's precious. You could be leveling forests, tending seas, conquering nations with generals astraddle! You think this will tame you, don’t you? That this domesticity will curb the inner monster you and I both know is raging inside of you.”

“I don’t give a shit about what you think, you furry mass of squirming demon maggots,” Acorn whinnied. “I don’t have to defend myself to you! Come down here before I teleport up there and trample you myself!”

The cat, Minos, stretched its furry snout, needle-like transparent teeth bared in a facsimile of a grin. “Oh, you know I’m better than that. I’m demon pupae at least. But you know that doesn’t matter. It’s time to make a choice, Acorn. Either you surrender yourself to your fate, or your friends cease to exist.”

The pony snorted air noisily out of his flared nostrils and swayed on the spot for a moment. Then his horn began to emanate a glow the fiery orange of sunset, of a thousand sunkissed fruits and a many autumns passed. The cat narrowed its greengage eyes into slits.

“So that is the choice you have made. Can’t say I’m surprised.”

that's someone's nest and a convenient gramophone. it still works somehow. sometimes.

credit is given where it is due; this idea is from @featherbent , where dave "birdman" strider lives inside a gramophone in the trees. im not sure what the visual novel is doing now, but it was very good when i played it.

i went with a little prompt of my own this time, which was goat, and to go with the worldbuilding theme, i created my own species. this would be a tranquil scene of two animals relaxing in each other's company, if not for the strange whirls of colour. i wonder what they could mean? what do you think?
