A sullen mix of anger and disbelief coursed through her veins as she stopped mid step only to spin on her heels and jam a finger against Blake’s chest.

“Whose fault is that?” She asked, seemingly calm at first, but a challenge danced under her skin. “It’s not mine.” Kay shrugged. Taking a cautious step forward, the girl’s hands balled into fist at her sides and she had to flex them a moment in an attempt to keep her composure.

“It doesn’t feel like you love me, Blake. I don’t need comparisons to know that. It may not be ‘painful’, but I have never experienced something as difficult as trying to give myself - everything I have - to you.” A deep breath, and back again. “I loved my work and myself more than anything else, and sometimes, when you look at me like you are right now, I still do. I knew that falling for you was going to surpass every single risk I’ve taken in my 24 years on this earth, but I still did it.” Tears threatened the brim of her eyelids as her voice fought to stay steady. “So why didn’t you?”
