✨ Witch Tips for Stressed Witches ✨
Life has been quite stressful lately, so I thought I would share small practices and spells I use to reduce my stress and anxiety when times are tough…
🍂 Spend time near nature as much as you can, even if it means looking at trees from your windows / balcony if you live in a city.
💨 Learn breathing exercises, like 4-7-8 breathing, and practice consistently to reduce your anxiety.
🧘 Meditate. If you cannot last 15 minutes, try 10, and if not, try 5 minutes. Meditate daily to connect to your inner self.
🌿 Apply lavender on your hands or pillow before going to bed, to sleep peacefully and reduce stressful thoughts.
👝 Make a anti-anxiety sachet with rose petals, lavender buds, and amethyst. Carry it around or keep it next to your desk to draw power and peace.
☕ Reduce your coffee and alcohol consumption. Replace with herbal teas and remind yourself to drink enough water during the day.
📝 Make a list of everything that worries you in your journal, then close it and make the conscious decision to keep them where they are: on the paper and not in your mind.
❤️ Be kind to yourself. Celebrate every tiny task you can accomplish, and forgive yourself for the ones you cannot do.
✨ Find casual magic around you everyday, even if it is just the way the wind blows softly on your face, or that bird you saw flying near your window.

Your Grimoire is Good Enough
✨ Don’t feel bad if your grimoire is in a cheap notebook.
✨ Don’t feel bad if you rip out or redo a page.
✨ Don’t feel bad if your handwriting isn’t perfect.
✨ Don’t feel bad if you make mistakes, everyone does.
✨ Don’t feel bad if you spell something wrong. Cross it out or use white out.
✨ Don’t feel bad if you want to transfer your grimoire to a new book. This is how you learn what you prefer.
✨ Don’t feel bad if you rip a page.
✨ Don’t feel bad if you forget something.
✨ Don’t feel bad if you smear ink/paint/pencil.
✨ Don’t feel bad if you spill something on your book.
✨ Don’t compare your grimoire to someone else’s, all the little mistakes you make give it character.
Witchy things to do when you’re low on spoons (part 2)
So I’m making a second one of this post because I’ve thought of a few more things and apparently there are many of you who found it helpful!
Chatting online - Talking to other witches about their craft can really help your motivation with your own practice, not to mention there are always more things to learn. If I’m struggling with energy but am feeling like doing something witchy I find that talking to other witches can sometimes replenish my energy a little bit and motivate me to do a little spell or some divination. Here are some places to find fellow witches to talk to!
- Here, on Tumblr! Many of the people in the community here on tumblr are incredibly friendly and inclusive, we are all here for each other. Just send people messages or asks and start up a conversation! Most of us really enjoy talking about our craft and welcome new friends. You are not being annoying, trust me. - Discord is an app where people can join certain chat rooms if they have the link. There are quite a few witch servers on discord with more popping up constantly! If you do not feel comfortable in one there’s sure to be another that fits you better. Here is a link to one, https://discord.gg/G6UAHcb this one is called Hogwarts and it has a friendly vibe and topic orientated rooms, eg crystals, divination, etc. Come and join the family. - Facebook. If, like me, you know exactly zero witches in real life you might seek out some local facebook groups. You can talk to them online for a bit and perhaps if you’re comfortable you can go to an event to meet them. Potentially great for meeting new witchy friends.
Movies and tv shows - The reality is that sometimes I just feel completely incapable of doing anything but sitting on my ass (or snuggling into bed) and watching something. There are plenty of witch themed movies and some TV series, they may not be realistic or accurate but it certainly helps me get into a witchy mood. There are also documentaries if that’s more your thing! Write your fave witchy thing to watch in the replies! Mine are Hocus Pocus, Practical Magic and Harry Potter.
Shopping - Sometimes it can really help if I get out of the house for awhile and have a change of scenery. Shopping is one of my favourite things to do but because of my illness it’s not like I have a great amount of funds for it. Here are some places where I buy my witchy things!
- Thrift stores. My #1 go to is Savers. They have a section for knick knacks and things like incense holders and candlesticks. I have bought things like a mortar and pestle, SO MANY candles, little decorative plates for offerings, an insane amount of second hand books, and even a little Bastet statue. The key is to look with an open mind and think of how you can incorporate every item into your practice. - Dollar stores are amazing for stocking up on things like tea lights, oil burners and decorative pieces. Even fake flowers for your altar and photo frames to make a scrying mirror. Plus so cheap omg. - Online. When I simply can’t go out I like to browse through Ebay, Etsy and other online witchy stores. Hunting around for the best bargain is easy as well, and even when I can’t afford to buy new things at the time I can just save them for later.
Journaling/Book of Shadows - Keeping a journal has really helped me with my practice. I like to write about my feelings for that day, keep track of how my energy is, and things I can do to improve. I have a seperate journal for these more personal writings and then my book of shadows, where I write down spells, corrospondences and the like. Working on my book of shadows takes little energy for me and massively boosts my witchy morale.
Lucid Dreaming/Astral Work - I admit I don’t know much about this subject but considering my illness makes me sleep a lot I have really been wanting to be able to do these things. I’m not sure how much energy it takes to do astral work, but I have been attempting lucid dreaming and I have to say it’s nice to put all that time wasted sleeping to some use.
Blogging! - I mean, we all do it already obviously, but gosh darn do I love blogging about witchy things. I usually transfer a lot of the info into my book of shadows as well. I have learned so much literally just by having a magic blog. Plus, it really doesn’t take any of my energy (unless I’m writing up a big post like this) and motivates me endlessly. Not to mention all the amazing witches you meet/admire secretly from afar.
Witch Bottles - I make these all the time when I have spare energy. I made one with tiny little polymer clay spoons to aid me when I’m especially low. They’re great for storing energy for a later date. They’re also really cheap and easy to make and can be for literally anything you can think of.
Art - Even if you don’t think you’re very good at drawing, every single piece of artwork holds energy and individuality. Sometimes when I feel particularly yucky I will doodle simple plants or other things I associate with health and will my own energy from that drawing into the intent of making me feel better. Honestly I’m not even sure if what I’m doing is even a spell or what, but it works for me.
So that’s all for this post, I really hope this helps at least one person out there. I know how much of a struggle it is to deal with low energy, but if my last post taught me anything it’s that we aren’t alone in this. Stay safe everyone, take care of yourself. Drink water and take medication. Don’t let witchcraft replace medicine. Of course feel free to comment with any other tips or anything, lets help each other. I love you all!

Witchy things to do when you’re low on spoons
As a witch with a chronic illness that can leave me extremely low on energy for weeks at a time, I’m always looking for witchy things to do that won’t leave me exhausted. Even simple spells draw from your own energy pool so these are the things I do when my pool is running dry.
Cleansing - Negative energy always builds up in my space during a bout of sickness, after a good cleansing of my outer I find my inner much more positive also. Here are some easy ways to cleanse
-Light some incense -Fill a spray bottle with water (moon water would be handy for this), herbs of your choice (I usually use sage), and some salt. Then go around to each room and spray some into each corner -Cleanse yourself by taking a bath or shower and using gorgeous smelling products -Open a window and let the fresh air blow positive energy into your house
Sigils - When I don’t have the energy for full-on spells/rituals I sit down and make some cute sigils. I try to make them specific to my situation, so when I am feeling especially down because of health issues I will make a sigil with the intent “My health does not affect my mental state” or something similar. You can also
-Put a sigil on your pill bottles for a little boost (although magic is NOT a replacement for medicine and you should never completely rely on it for any health issues) -Put a sigil on your heat bags/hot water bottle -Draw them on your wrist -Draw them at the bottom of your tea mugs with honey
Beauty Products - Being stuck in bed feeling like death himself can make me feel, well, not awesome appearance wise. I found making myself feel nice on the outside can help my moral SO MUCH. I don’t mean you have to get up and put on a full face of make-up, but these little things can make a big difference
-Rosehip oil spray. It smells amazing, has many magical benefits including health and feeling calm and sensual, and is super refreshing with the added bonus of being rly good for your skin -Scented lip balm for when your lips are feeling dry and sore eg I have pomegranate lip balm for when I want to make an offering to Persephone but have absolutely no energy. They come in sooo many flavors and scents, just pick which ones resonate with what you need! -Perfume/essential oils. Just use a scent that corresponds with what you would like to do, like tea tree oil for health or lavender for relaxation. Also, smell pretty=feel pretty.
Prayers - It can be hard keeping up appearances to the Gods when you have no energy so every night before bed, or generally whenever I feel like it, I say a little prayer. Of course if you are a secular witch you could just take some time to appreciate the things in nature/your life that makes it magical.
Tea - It’s so nice having a soothing hot drink when your throat feels like a huge cluster of quartz has gotten stuck in there. There are so many posts out there about magical uses for tea but here is a couple
-Adding herbs for intent -Leaving a crystal in your mug overnight so your mug and tea is charged with intent -Blowing away the steam and visualize blowing away negative energy
Get to know your crystals - Lets be honest, I have so many crystals I’ve forgotten what half of them are. I like taking them out and surrounding myself with them and then picking them up one by one and focusing on its energy to re-connect. This takes barely any of my energy as I can do it in bed, and makes me feel warm and fuzzy seeing all my pretties in front of me.
Read/Study - This is what I spend the majority of my time doing. There is ALWAYS more to learn about witchcraft and I can do it while lying down. There are so many free witchy book pdfs on tumblr as well, just remember not to believe everything you read.
Witchy Crafts - This one could take a little more spoons than the others, but it’s super gratifying. To find some things to do you can scroll through the tumblr tag “witch diy”. Some things I have done are
-Sewed cute tarot bags to hold my cards -Used thick cotton to make my own little necklace crystal holder -Bought gemstone beads and made my own jewelry
Visualization - This is in my opinion the foundation of all spells and a lot of the time I don’t even use any other ingredients because that takes too much energy. I just focus on my intent and chant a little bit or sing and let the spell come to light all through visualizing it. I have charmed items, helped my plants grow and a lot more this way. I also like to visualize myself in a beautiful, flower-filled forest and feel the sun/moon pulling dark clouds of negative energy/illness out of my body to help when i’m feeling particularly unwell.
Meditation - My favorite spoonie witchy thing to do. It calms you, cleanses you, broadens your mind and senses and helps me personally deal with any pain caused by my illness. It can be done at any time and you really feel recharged afterwards. You can even light some candles, light some incense, sit outside under the moon, so many things.
So these are all I can think of right now, feel free to add on so we can all help each other out! Much love to every one of you 💕

what to do when you’re spiritually burnt out 🌜🌻🌛
i’m sure we all have times where we feel like witchcraft is too much, too time consuming, not fulfilling enough, or we just can’t seem to get motivated to actually practice. this is especially true for my spoonie witch self! here are tips i’ve found useful for when i personally feel burnt out.
pace yourself. don’t feel like you have to get back to where you once were in your practice right away. try one tarot card a day. do some light energy work this week. schedule a day to make a tasty potion (hot cocoa potions are the bomb for this) and then watch a movie while you enjoy it.
plan in advance. maybe you can get yourself hyped for a big ritual at the next full moon! write down a day in your planner for a cool event and ration smaller preparatory tasks leading up to it.
practice passively. set a jar on your porch for when the next rain happens to fall, or throw some rose quartz in your makeup bag for your next night out. when you rediscover these things, it can really spark interest and motivation again.
explore nature in solitude. this one is huge. go for a nature walk (yes, I am a city witch and it’s possible!) and collect fallen leaves or wildflowers (cut, don’t pick) that you can use in future work. or, just soak in the awe of earth herself.
research. when you have free time, have a big research day on herbalism, crystals, your dieties, whatever. this one’s also huge for me.
glamour magick. one great active spellwork activity you can do is glamour and self love magick. #glamour magick on here, check out the tag! also recommend @orriculum for these types of spells. they really help you find peace in your craft again.
take a break from it. sometimes we need one. go out with friends and family, focus on school or work, and try your best to remain hopeful. personally, i’ve taken two of these long breaks from my craft. it helped me to rediscover why I’m a witch in the first place.
hope these helped–
until we meet again 🌜🌻🌛
So it’s kind of a scary time. Like the whole ass world is in a tower-card. In times of uncertainty remember you can always fall back on magic. Keep your magic centered and your spirits up. Watch funny movies. Laugh. And most of all, do witchcraft. If you’re stuck at home here are some magical ideas to pass the time. 1 Catch up on your witchcraft reading. 2 Do a good cleansing of your space. 3 Research your next tarot deck. 4 Leave out offerings for your ancestors. (Mine like black coffee and Jack Daniels) 5 Salt your doorsteps. 6 Cleanse your crystals. 7 Take a cleansing bath or shower. 8 Write in your spellbook. 9 Burn incense and candles to clear your head space. 10 Meditate. 11 Bake something and add a little magic to it (Kitchen witch much?) 12 Sweep out negativity. (Or use a floor wash) 13 Make an inventory of all your magical ingredients. (I need to do this!) 14 Support other witch’s online. 15 Watch AHS coven and/or Sabrina. 16 Practice your divination. 17 Practice reading tarot for friends and/or family. 18 Learn a new technique like palm reading, tea leaf reading or the pendulum. 19 Read your birth chart. 20 Find out what human design you are and research that. (I’m a projector BTW) 21 Look up local ghost stories. 22 Collect rain and moon water. (Use them your ritual bath) 23 Start a witchy craft. 24 Make a witchcraft tumblr blog to repost all your favorites. 25 Go for a nature walk (alone)and collect alter items. And most of all stay safe and stay inside. ️<3

A List of Witchy Android Apps:
There will probably be overlap with other app posts. I’m not trying to say I’m the first to discover these apps or anything of that nature. I’ve included some brief descriptions of why/how regularly I personally use them/how they could be useful and how the app functions.
Amazon Kindle: I have some digital witchcrafty books. If you have your own amazon account, it may be an especially good idea for the discreet witch. Digital versions of encyclopedias are also much easier to carry in-pocket this way.
Angel Cards: The free version only has 2 options, “Message of the Day” and a “Past, Present, Future” spread. The app’s cards are splayed out (face down) for you to scroll through and choose from when you do a spread, and that’s why I use the app despite its lack of free features.
Angel Tarot: The free version of this app is much more substantial than the previous app mentioned. It has a card of the day function as well as 5 spreads built into the app. This app’s divination function also has a user input into the randomization through tapping the touchscreen to shuffle the deck and then choosing the top card with a slide whenever you’re ready. It also allowed you to save your spreads/results to review at a later through a “Journal” function. It does not allow you to take notes on the spread, just archives the result itself.
Cards of Courage: This is a free app that doesn’t offer the entire deck until purchased. There is a Daily Card function, and 1 card, 2 card, and 3 card spread functions. With this app, it chooses a card without any user input (no shuffling/scrolling through cards), but it has not negatively affected its accuracy in my personal experience. This app also has four guided meditations I have not tried to use for it does not interest me.
Crystal Oracle: This is a free app that sort of functions as a magic 8 ball. It takes user input to begin ‘pulling’ an answer. The answers vary from the typical yes/no/ask later. I’ve had varied success with this app.
Galaxy Tarot: A free app with an upgrade option that adds a journal and additional card associations among several other things. This app does not utilize user input for the daily card, but it allows the option for the 6 spreads available.
GardenAnswers: A free app I feel would be very useful for identifying local flora. If a photo of a flower is input into the app, it attempts to match it from a database. It also has a function to ask a horitculturist for advice identifying a plant or treating a plant issue. I have not used this app much, so I can’t vouch for or against it.
Golden Thread Tarot: Cards are generated without user input. The app has a physical deck that can be used in companion. The app offers a journal function that allows the user to input how they feel about the result of the reading when they save it. The app has a daily card function, and offers three spreads for various categories (ex. Love, career, general).
Horoscopes: A horoscope app I use mostly for entertainment. The app has a sign compatibility function that only has m/f options. It also has decent graphics of the constellations which could function as a nice reference.
Inkboard: A simple drawing app I use to create sigils.
Labyrinthos Academy: A fun app that teaches Tarot. The user is allowed to pick between a girl, boy, and nonbinary option for their “player character.” I’ve heard it is very useful for learning the Tarot card meanings, but I have yet to try it much.
MagicBall: An app that requires users to shake their phone to get an answer. It seems about as accurate as the Crystal Oracle app.
Memo: Any note-taking app will do. I’m pretty sure all phones come with one pre-installed. I’ve heard Evernote works well, too. Basically anything that you can use to save your notes even when you’re on the bus or otherwise on the go.
myNoise: This app is made by the same person who has the myNoise website! I 100% recommend this app (and the website which is fairly mobile-friendly) for anyone who needs background noise during spellwork, meditation, divination, or even sleep. Truly amazing stuff.
Phases of the Moon: An app that tracks the moon phase and what sign it’s in. It also has a (relatively unstable) function to set the moon phase as your lock screen/background that is useful for keeping a constant eye on the moon phase.
Planetary Times: An app that tracks the astrological time. It explains what planet’s time it is at the moment and also supplies some horoscope capabilities. It also explains the correspondences and associations of the planets.
Spellcaster: Offers a few basic tarot reading options that do not take user input for card choice (bar selecting a reading). It also has a few spells from the creator’s grimoire, and a daily horoscope. There are more features, but the ones I’ve listed are the free ones. I honestly don’t find myself opening this app much.
Uni Tarot: This app has several decks from which to choose, and the user “stirs” the cards with their touch screen before selecting a card or cards for the spread. It has a large amount of information on the cards, and has a journal function.
Viridi: A calming, meditative digital succulent gardening app (there is also a viridi for the computer) where you weed and water a potted arrangement of succulents.
White Noise Generator: The one I have is an actual stream of white noise. Could be useful for drowning out loud surroundings for meditation or ease in hearing spirits.
Inexpensive Offerings
An orange peel with olive oil in it, stem burns like a candle, and remains decompose afterwards (honestly any oil will do if you don't have olive oil specifically but it works best)
A journal, write to your deity in it (you can get a little creative with this one, it can be physical such as a traditional journal or scrapbook or you could make a discord as a way to "talk" to them everyday or something like that)
Write them letters and burn them (or bury them*, or put them in a folder, or rip them up and throw them in the wind* or a river *as long as the material is friendly to nature. This also depends on the nature of the deity)
Poetry! You can speak it out loud or put in in a digital folder, but I personally put in in a decorated envelope on their altar space.
Tea, just make a little extra when you make some for yourself.
Rainwater, moon water, snow water, etc.
Origami, paper also decomposes outside
Sigils, make one for them and draw it on you as often as you'd like
Playlists (or you can sing to them/play music yourself)
Pinterest aesthetic boards
Art in general (this includes theatrical arts)
Talk to the moon at night (specifically for night related dieties) OR lay out in the sun
Keep a plant for them
Depending on the pantheon, you can consume foods as an offering
(This one is little weird for some but if you have reptiles, certain deities do appreciate sheds)
Certain deities will also enjoy helping you in your craft, you can request guidance if you want to use learning as a devotional act itself
