I think I used to be a bit of a cynic about love. It’s not hard to be. It’s easy to be. It’s easy to shrug love off as something possible or real but maybe not as desirable as success. Maybe not something as powerful as seeing the world. It’s easier to toss your head in skepticism or defensiveness than give to hopefulness. At least it is for me.
Experiencing love firsthand has changed me. And shooting weddings and engagements has opened my eyes to the variety of loves. And I’m learning to love it. I love that one couple’s version of love is a quiet squeeze of the hand under the table and a smile across the room and another’s is nearly-visible stars in the eyes and being attached at the hip. And they’re both real. They’re both honest expressions and honest feeling. I love that some couples hang out on the fringes while their friends and family dance, and other couples are out there singing their hearts out about how we should all not stop believing. I feel lucky to be working with so many couples that are doing what they WANT to do and expressing love the way they feel is most true for them. It’s inspiring. And I think the more I see it the more hopeful I am.
So, cheers to all the couples who have let me be a part of such a huge day. I’m looking forward to many more.

There’s no way your weekend was cooler than mine. Unless you went sky diving. Or built a house. Or..
Cheers to love and doing things how you want to.
Lately I’ve been inspired to do what I want. It’s INSANE that we let fear of failure or fear of other people control us or hold us back– and everyone knows that but I think most of us still find it hard to actually get over that. Lyza and Graham decided they didn’t want to do the normal wedding thing. They wanted a small, intimate ceremony and then to go on a road trip across America. So they did. Full wedding gallery here.
