Even after nearly thirteen years of freedom, Fenris' first instinct upon seeing someone from his homeland was to fight or flee. He managed not to draw his blade, though it was an effort, but he still took a half-step back to give himself room to do so, or to gain that slight advantage should he need to run. Green eyes cast over the woman suspiciously as he tried to surmise her purpose.
"It is not often I see an Imperium Templar this far south."
If there was one thing Melana liked about Skyhold at night, it was how quiet it was. Sometimes it felt a little eerie, but it usually gave her the focus she needed to get through the more tedious bits of her job, the reports and the paperwork and the letters, the writing of which did not come naturally to her in the slightest. The mark on her dominant left hand didn’t make it any easier.
On nights like tonight, the Inquisitor found the quiet to be wanting. Instead of a comfort, it was an emptiness that needed filling. She was restless, blue eyes straining to look at another word on the page. When they began to cross, she stood up, pushing herself from her desk before reaching for her staff. The grounds would be deserted by this hour.
Or so she thought. When she reached the training ground, someone was there, swinging around a sword in the darkness. When the other person noticed her, and a bluish light appeared, she knew who it was. “Fenris,” she replied. “Looks like we both had the same idea tonight. Mind if I join you? I won’t get in your way unless you want me to. You know, for practice.”
"I prefer training at night. Fewer people to gawk." He took a step back and gestured to the grounds, inviting her to stay. He liked the Inquisitor well enough, though they'd yet to truly get to know each other.
"Do you often have a chance to practice your combat skills with a warrior?" He ventured the question almost cautiously. He'd learned to mind his speech somewhat better than he had in Kirkwall, though Varric said he still came off as prickly and overly formal. He sighed, shook his head and tried again, certain that he'd misworded his intent.
"I am certain I said that wrong. Would you care to spar, Inquisitor? It may do us both well." He watched her as he waited for an answer, the dim light likely to be little trouble to either of them.
Azazel kept a cautious stance, little shame shown for the fact he was nude as could be, his sharp red hues fixed upon the other’s face, observing every little detail that could warn him that he would react violently. And he could make an escape. Ah, a nude escape that wouldn’t be a first… What a t h r i l l. His lips twitched upward momentarily before he shifted away from the bed, slowly leaning down and grasping his smallclothes. He observed as the other checked for a pulse, reminded himself to repeat that action if the possibility arose. He didn’t want to leave a sloppy job, after all.
It was only when the other had moved away from the Magister ( and he had put on his small clothes ), did he finally move over the body and pressed two fingers to his pulse. It remained there for several of seconds before a pleased smirk curled around his lips as he straightened once more and snatched the rest of his clothes off the ground.
“ Well, seeing as we’re not going to get in a brawl. You’re free now. You can skidoodle away from this place. Again. ” he added, moving his shirt over his head in a quick movement, eyes darting toward the white-haired elf once more to ensure he was still standing where he had been. Oddly enough he was but… He did not move. Simply sat. Head down. Eyes hiding behind white locks. Almost as if w a i t i n g for something.
His brows furrowed, slowly pulling on his pants as he kept his eyes fixed on the elf. Until finally a groan left him. Oh for fuck’s sake, it couldn’t be true… His eyes darted to the other once more as he slowly put on the rest of his clothes, biting the tip of his tongue once. He needed to get out of here, but he couldn’t very well leave the puppy behind. Because frankly, that was what the other was now. A tamed damn puppy. Who was expecting him to do something. Or say something. And what the fuck was he supposed to do with that? He hadn’t known how far gone Fenris would have been.
Far enough, apparently.
“ Fuck, stand up will you. And put something on. You don’t want to stay here, right? ” he questioned, keeping an eye on the other as he put on his black leather jacket, keeping an eye on the other.
The longer his new master went without speaking, the more Fenris began to dread his fate. He still hoped that perhaps his new Master would take a liking to him despite his obvious failure as a bodyguard. Danarius had often said it was as much his beauty as his strength that made him so lenient with him. There was still a chance that his new Master would feel the same.
His dread turned to confusion when his new Master finally did speak. Free? He would never be free. The only freedom he would ever know was in service, or in death. The marks that covered his skin ensured that, they were far to valuable to ever allow him to be more than he was. But he dared not look up and try to read his Master's face to see if he was insinuating an intent to kill him.
"Dominus?" Master? It was the most he could allow himself, a quiet question that might still be more than he should have dared. But the silence was back, echoing behind his barely spoken question, hanging heavy in the air. He swallowed and prayed the sound only seemed loud in his own ears as the quiet stretched onwards.
And then the order came and Fenris could relax. Even if his Master sounded angry, he had chosen to keep him, at least for now.
"Yes, Dominus, I wish to be with you." He rose smoothly and when to where his armor, the only clothing he was typically allowed, and dressed quickly,t he buckles sliding into place from unremembered years of donning and removing it. They should leave quickly, he knew that. Every second that they waited but the crow, put his Master at risk of being found out and caught. And that was no longer an option.
Once fully dressed, he turned back to His Master. He stood tall now, though his eyes were still downcast. He set his right fist over his heart and bowed from the waist before straightening again and awaiting orders.
okay so. Sometimes I see an ask and think yeh I can work with this. Sometimes I’m not in the mood. We got those days. But OH BOY when I am IN the mood the problem lays solely with the fact I think I’ll burden or bother my rp partner if I turn an ask into a thread.
So please still my beating heart and like this post if you DONT MIND TURNING AN ASK INTO A THREAD.
Warning, Dragon Con is upon me. I will be mobile only starting from later today until sometime monday. So no tagging asks, not trimming posts, and thats if I manage to respond to anything. So please be patiant with me.

He had known Fenris. Of course he had. The wolf of Kirkwall. Just as they had called him the ghost of Kirkwall. Perhaps that had something to do with his white skin, however. And little else with his profession. He wouldn’t deny that perhaps he had enjoyed seeing the other around. That he intrigued him. He wouldn’t deny that it was a thrill to sometimes come upon the other and they got rid of slavers together. So yes, perhaps it was a surprise when one day, he found Fenris was no longer around. That instead of fighting some slavers side to side, there was now no wolf to be found.
When he heard the rumours about what had happened, he h a d been livid. But being who he was, he had let it fester and simply did what they asked him to do. When his target fell on a certain Magister, he had been both surprised and pleased. This would be more than a simple target. This would be p e r s o n a l. However, that did not mean making it too personal. There was still a line to walk. Mercy, did he hate Tevinter ground.
But yes, a thrill it had been too… How many times was one asked to kill a Magister? Okay, fine. More often than not. But the fact remained it would be a first for him. This was new ground. And there was a second matter at hand. Danarius’ bodyguard. A very familiar face. But he played his parts well. He pretended the older man had caught his eye. Pretended he was honored to have Danarius with him. He played his part, just enough want, but not too much for it to fall through. It was not an e a s y task, but… it had been possible.
Danarius was a r r o g a n t. Azazel had nothing on him. No weapon. Weapons were not allowed in his private chambers. He had nothing to hide. Nowhere. The only lethal weapon he had was something nobody knew of. So they played their dance, skin brushing skin. Lips pressing against the Magister’s. Fingertips trailing over the other’s body. Up and up until they were within the man’s hair. Their lips locked momentarily. All innocence and play and he almost felt bad he had to cut this short before he had some pleasure out of it. But, killing him he supposed, was pleasure enough for now.
And that was when his nailed plunged into the other’s skull and in that split second, he unleashed the magic he had worked on. Basically electrocuting the other’s brains. With some luck, the jolt was heavy enough that it reached his heart too. And he p r a y e d it had gone to perfection because there was a second thing to consider.
Fenris was there.
“ There’s no need to get your pants in a twist, love. “ he finally spoke, lifting himself from the Magister’s form and standing tall, ready to move if so needed as he watched the other with cautious eye. “ Your master’s is dead. Fighting me won’t stop that. “
Fenris watched as his Master's body jerked and arched from an unknown cause. He was left to assume magic, though he had never heard of a crow knowing any magic. The marks flared brighter as he bound up the three steps to the edge of the bed and reached for the Crow, his hand already phasing intangible, ready to tear out his heart.
"There's no need to get your pants in a twist, love. Your master is dead. Fighting me won't change that."
Those words drew him up short, the bed still standing between him and his intended target. His Master... Danarius was dead. The thought sent a vicious thrill through him that he tried to tamp down. He shouldn't be pleased his Master was dead, he shouldn't. But pleased or not, the fact still remained. Green eyes carefully focused on the albino assassin, he knelt up onto the bed and reached for the Magister's form. Slender fingers found the pulse-point quickly and, after a long pause withdrew.
Danarius was dead.
Immediately, Fenris dropped his gaze, head tilting down just enough to hide his eyes behind a fringe of white hair. He backed slowly down the stairs and immediately took a knee, his arms folded behind his back and his eyes downcast. His Master was dead, killed by the very Crow Fenris had tried to warn him about, by the man with eerily familiar red eyes, though he knew for a fact he would have remembered seeing someone with eyes the color of blood before. Or would he? there was so much he didn't know about his life. So much that was just grey static in the back of his mind.
Still, his Master was dead. He could only assume that he was to belong to the Crow then, the strange, pale man whom he didn't even have a name for. Names weren't important. He would be Master, as Danarius had been Master. There was no need to complicate things beyond that.
Of course, this was all assuming that his new Master would wish to keep a thing that had failed at it's primary purpose. So he knelt, waiting, with his head bowed, ears held carefully still even though he desperately wanted to focus in on where the other man was standing, so have some idea of what he was doing or when he was going to move. But he'd been too well trained to allow himself that indulgence.
He would gladly serve, (no he wouldn't a small voice cried from deep within, ignored as always), if he only knew what his new Master wanted.

It was late, far later than most liked to train, but Fenris found a certain peace on the training grounds at night. He liked the solitude amongst the constant bustle of the Inquisition. His ears twitched at the sound of footsteps approaching and he paused in the middle of a drill. For the briefest instants, his marks flared to life, illuminating him and his immediate area with Lyrium's distinctive blue glow. They died back down once he identified who was approaching him.
"Inquisitor." His voice was as welcoming as he got, head tilting slightly as he replaced his massive sword on his back.
“Oh, by the Old Gods,” Dorian practically spat. “I most certainly am not fond of Qunari men and I will most certainly not be seeking any of them further—”
His indignation died away now that he was getting a better look at the elf; most especially the very distinctive markings on his skin. Distantly he remembered his mother’s voice, a passing mention of Magister Danarius’ new pet project.
“I know you,” Dorian said before he could stop himself and broach the subject tactfully. (Tact? Ha!) “I heard about you back home. The bodyguard.” Well, that was probably insulting. “Ah, former, of course. After Magister Danarius’ untimely demise. I must confess, I rather thought you were made up. It seemed like something he would make up.” An unfortunate truth, he supposed. “Pity, that. Well, look at you. Alive and well, it seems. Good for you.”
Dorian's indignation was almost enough to make the elf laugh, it certainly did make him give a small smile in amusement. An expression that was short lived, faded to nothing the second Dorian mentioned knowing who he was. He expected it of course. He was distinctive and humble was never a word that would be used to describe his former master. At the very least, this Tevinter seemed to remember him for his official function and not one of Danarius' many parties or games.
"Unfortunately, no. And likely all the tales he told were true enough in their own fashion." He couldn't say he was surprised that those who had perhaps not seen him in person might call him nothing but a fade dream and an empty boast. He couldn't imagine the Magisters would want it known that he was alive and well after having killed his former master. "And what do they say of Magister Danarius' death in Tevinter? I don't imagine it's the truth."
Fenris! This was @memi-toh’s request for @da-sae ! He was specifically requested to have sexy hair. I hope I did him justice! What a perfect child.
Semi-Hiatus
Okay guys, I love you all, but it’s time for me to announce that I’m going on a Semi-Hiatus from now until the end of September
Now don’t panic, I’m not leaving completely. What I mean when I say Semi-Hiatus is simply this:
I will not be starting any new threads unless it is something that has already been discussed between us muns. You are still welcome to tag me in things or continue off any ask things I respond to, but it’ll get dropped in my drafts to be dealt with after I come back completely [or when I get muse for them if you get lucky]
My already slow reply rate will drop even slower. I’m sorry but I’ve got Dragon Con is just a few days and Anime Weekend Atlanta at the end of the month and I just don’t have the time to dedicate to my blogs that I would like until after those are over.
While you can still reach me through ask and messenger, I might not answer promptly. But I will see it and try to remember to say something
I will continued to keep up with my dash as best I can, and I will do my best not to lose any threads in the meantime. Thank you so much for understanding, and I love you all.
@wilddeoren @wildmageling @tevintertemplar @Cuervocanto @lostlavellan
your starters will be gotten to because they were asked for before the Hiatus went up.

"The first time I see you in over a year and we end up fighting a cult of dragon worshipers. I should not be surprised." There was less anger in Fenris' voice than might be expected, even as he fade stepped through one of the cultists to prevent another from flanking Marian. Truthfully, he had missed the madwoman.
