CHAPPELL ROAN | Primavera (2025)
the wrong people in this world are unlearning shame
psa: 'hey guys remember to be nice to people and try to be sensitive if you can :)'
gentle soul with debilitating anxiety: 'oh no do they mean me am i a jerk? is this me???? should i have apologized to that waiter for pouring soup in my lap? ahghghghghghhg i'm so bad at social cues'
the most obtuse and self-righteous person on the planet: 'you are intruding on my god-given right to harass strangers for no reason because you don't have trauma (broke a bone in third grade) like i do'
silently letting the barista give you the type of milk that makes your stomach hurt will not help them emotionally later in the day against the person that will verbally berate them for like breathing a little too weird
I actually do feel like the "unemployed friend on a Tuesday" meme actually helps de-stigmatize unemployment because it frequently affirms that when you don't have a job you're more likely to be getting up to some weird shit rather than just lazing around. But I also feel like the unemployed friend is frequently up to some random shit because there's a whole pile of miscellaneous life tasks that full-time employment keeps people from. The unemployed friend is helping their cousin move, or babysitting, or checking in with a neighbor with mobility issues. The unemployed friend is a walking thesis on the inflexibility of our current labor landscape and just how much work exists outside of work.
"live every day like it's your last": scary. weirdly foreboding. not a good thought process if you get anxious easily. stressful. so much pressure that it loops back around to making you do nothing. "live every day like it's your FIRST": everything becomes fascinating. renews the excitement of discovering things for the first time again. makes you feel like exploring stuff. #mywisdom
isn't it crazy that a woman being gender nonconforming literally just requires her to exist in her own body without making any changes whatsoever. why does the fact that i don't wear makeup and i don't shave and i don't wear a bra have to be some political act. why can't i just fucking exist

I'm sure the cat is just sleeping, but its pose and the petals reminded me of a painting.

the infuriating thing is that there is genuinely so much good queer literature out there, contemporary and not, but there is also a sizeable chunk of readers who think that a book only "counts" as good queer literature if it's a) unproblematic, b) contains romance as its central focus, and c) has the characters state their orientation and/or gender identity directly to the audience using socially acceptable 21st-century terms (as opposed to resorting to cowardly tactics such as Subtext and Themes)
greta was time's person of the year a few years ago. she was adored by all liberal world leaders and parties. and when she learnt about people's struggle under occupation and colonialism, she stood in solidarity with them . she now stands with palestine and armenia and kashmir and every oppressed person in the world. she could have been rich as fuck by simply remaining as a climate activist. yet she chose to do the right thing. i love her for her integrity.
yes this!!
