Here’s the thing about “a few bad apples.” It comes from “One bad apple spoils the bunch.” And it’s true, if you have a barrel of apples and one is rotten, it will release ethylene gas. This will force the other apples to over-ripen and begin to rot as well. One bad apple isn’t an unfortunate addition. It’s a taint, the beginning of total decay, the ruination of an entire batch.
So if you have a bad apple, you spot it as soon as you can. You isolate it from the other, fresh apples. You throw it away with the trash. You DO NOT halfheartedly put the bad apple to the side, park it behind or desk or send it home with pay for a few weeks. You REMOVE it, permanently. You don’t take it out of the barrel and look the other way when it ends up in another district’s barrel, creating repeat offenses.
You do not create a false brotherhood, a pack of apples, a code of “apples always stick up for apples, no matter what.” Because then that bad apple is still there. It has spread its decay and infested the whole crop, because no one wants to address the spreading and systemic badness of the apple.
You take that motherfucking bad apple and you throw it in the compost heap and let it shrivel into dirt into nothing before it can poison anything else.
Otherwise, you don’t have one bad apple. You have a whole spoiled bunch. And then you gave that nasty, smelly, mealy, rotten orchard a bunch of riot gear and tell them they are better than the rest of the fruit on the farm and that it is their GOD GIVEN RIGHT to smash every pear, papaya, watermelon, strawberry, or pineapple that dissents.
obviously this isn’t a metaphor or anything i’m just really passionate about orchard maintenance
what really gets me about the argument that “americans are so selfish they can’t even care about others enough to stop the virus” is that we fucking did. the vast majority of americans, at great personal and financial cost to ourselves, went inside and distanced and took precautions and isolated and changed our lives to slow the spread and keep our loved ones and strangers safe. we did that for months, even when the government offered piss poor assistance and unemployment skyrocketed and food bank lines lengthened and the death counts climbed and parents with young children reached a breaking point, we still did it. the polling still shows that the vast majority of americans are more worried about easing restrictions too soon even if it hurts the economy. americans give a shit. we care. we made the sacrifices to give our government the time to figure out and implement a plan — to find a way to keep us safe and as healthy as possible and to use the power of the federal government to protect small businesses and feed our children and put a roof over our heads and create education campaigns to get people to socially distance and wear a mask for fucks sake. we did that, and at the end of months of sacrifice they decided that it wasn’t worth the trouble and have left us at the whims of our governors and local officials, left us at the mercy of our employers, left us to die.
americans aren’t selfish — our minority-rule government is — and it’s left us to die.
Also, don’t mistake the minority of stupid and careless Americans for the majority just because they’re yelling really loudly. Because they prop up the narrative of the minority-rule government, they get more air time and more exposure than the rest of us. Hundreds of thousands of people are protesting for BLM across America and the news is cutting back coverage, but when these assholes went out protesting for haircuts? It was EVERYWHERE.
Even if you’re not IN America, please examine the narrative about America you’re being fed.
Delete your ex's nudes.
Delete anyone's nudes that doesn't fuck with you anymore.
Its creepy as hell to keep nude/lewd photos of someone who has CUT OFF that kind of connection to you.
Delete them.

I said this before but people are really getting the wrong message about koalas. When we who like animal science say that koalas are wretched and horrible we mean that they are fascinating and wonderful. It is brilliant that a mammal evolved into this idiot teddy bear that eats poison all day and screams and falls asleep. Can’t we talk about an animal being wretched and degenerate without everyone saying “so they’re useless and can all die, then?” That’s not the point. An animal doesn’t need to be smart, or nice, or even in any way pleasant to be in the presence of to be amazing and special and worthy of existence. Who would ever want the planet to stop having hairy tree goblins that just hang off a tree branch spewing diarrhea while a laughable pea brain rolls around behind their asshole baby face.
What is not to love about a thing so soft and so small yet so terribly terribly vulgar
creatures like the koala and the ocean sunfish are scientifically important because they help us understand just how badly a living organism can function and still survive
