This is a sideblog of mine dedicated to GNC characters. Keep in mind I'm not from the USA and my view on what is gender-conforming or not might differ from yours. | My avatar is from the game "Aquanox", the banner is from the Manga "Angel Sanctuary"

First things first; this is my personal blog dedicated to GNC characters since I do love these and their androgynity; it's both a very personal topic to me and something I miss being celebrated both in mainstream society as well as in queer circles (atleast the ones I know of).

As already stated in the blog description, I'm not from the USA and my ideas from what is GNC might differ from yours.

If you have suggestions for characters, feel free to send them! For now I plan to focus on characters I know and like and which have inspired me personally, but I'm open to expand my horizon. :)

Additionally, I'm myself nonbinary and bisexual and that's the main lense through which I look at the characters, but I think it's important that everyone has their own connection to fiction and this can mean that you might see characters as trans, maybe you see them as cis, maybe you see them as homosexual, maybe as heterosexual, as asexual, or whatever. I do not intend this blog to become some sort of battleground for "which interpretation is canon" or "compliant with canon" and which is not.

Prisoner 849 from the original Unreal! She is the protagonist of the game, a classic of the FPS-genre! As the "name" suggests, the game doesn't tell you her actual name, but what station in society is! A prisoner. Well, sort of. The game starts in your cell aboard a prison-spaceship which has crash landed on an lien planet, most people are gone or dead and it's up to you to find a way out and survive on an alien world.

The first two are the main characters from the small indie game "Yrsa Major", it's a visual novel I found (for free!) on itch.io and a story about a stoic woman who is also a lumberjack and a water elemental who took the form of a middle aged, feminine man. Over the course of the story he becomes her companion.

I do like a lot about these two characters, but a personal favourite of mine is to see a feminine man who isn't young but of somewhat advanced age, these tend to be rare!

Alyx from the Half-Life series! A really cool character in my opinion and while I found it a bit too cheesy how she was kind of set up as a love interest for Gordon in HL2 and it's episodes, I always found her to be a full character on her own nonetheless, and particularly with the spin-off game "Half-Life Alyx", in which she's the protagonist, I feel like it was further cemented that she's standing on her own two feet narratively.

Kara Thrace aka Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica (2004); an amazing character and a total mess. I loved her! As a bonus mention: Kendra Shaw from the spin-off movie "Razor", I wish she would have been a proper character in the series.

Amanra from "Age of Mythology"; I'm actually not entirely sure how much she fits this blog; she is undoubtedly cool and I really enjoyed her in the original campaign of the game, however, in how far is she GNC? She probably isn't that GNC for the context of the time period she is probably supposed to belong to (ancient Nubia), but for my society nowadays she definitely is GNC. Anyway, I wanted to mention her nonetheless. A warrior, a military leader and a priestess of Isis. All with a serious and stern personality.

Adam and Eve from "Only Lovers Left Alive", I adore their looks and particularly their dynamic. For me it's an amazing "androgynous for androgynous" couple who are totally on eye-height with each other, through both the good moments and the bad ones.

And I mean they're vampires on top of that.

the character creator in the game allows to make some really tough looking women!

Another character; Fine from "Vampire in the Garden"! An amazing character from a really good (underrated even) anime!
