QUESTIONNAIRE
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT EMPEROR DOOM? thinks heâs a joke, truthfully, but can commend his efforts. he has the results, does he not? but sheâs more likely to roll her eyes than offer him any sort of praise. she doesnât feel an ounce of subjugation, does not live her life like she is under anyoneâs thumb, so she pays him and his reign little mind. sure enough of herself that she would merely get away with whatever she wanted to.
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT THE BATTLES? ARE THEY TRYING TO AVOID THEM? OR ARE THEY EAGER TO JUMP IN? despite having zero desire to offer herself up to them, she knows she could really spruce up the battles if she ever had to. isnât afraid to be condemned to them. and she is very fond of the champions! thinks some of them and their egos are just delightful. sheâll find pretty much any reason to get involved with them and bask in their violence!
WHY HAS YOUR CHARACTER ACCEPTED THEIR JOB POSITION? WILL THEY USE IT TO GET CLOSER TO DOOM? OR WILL THEY USE IT EXPLOIT HIM? OR DO THEY SIMPLY LIKE THEIR JOB? she takes âbountiesâ from pretty much anyone, especially people in positions of considerable power that she would like to impress/seduce. this absolutely includes doom. that isnât to say sheâs super reliable in her job. depending on the target... sheâll take liberties on whether or not she switches her alliance. itâs just the risk one may be willing to take, for her expertise, anyway.Â
Lorna shrugged. âThey should,â she said. Magnetoâs daughter being murdered? Not to mention the fact that she knew her father would tear apart Latverion in retribution? She raised an eyebrow, smirking slightly. âAh, yes, so that makes it the perfect place for a pleasure jaunt. I see what you mean.â
đ â They should. Madelynâs eyes glimmer a bright crimson, âI can feel you wanting to flaunt that ego.â Her patience was short, but it wasnât personal. She could feel the power radiating off the girl.. and it was driving her a little mad thinking she was out of some sort of loop. âSo. Iâm at the edge of my seat. Who are you supposed to be?âÂ
ânever seen you around these parts before,â val spoke up, sitting up as madelyne walked into friggaâs. sheâd been sat at her favorite seat at the bar and had been boldly deciding that today was the day to see where her limits of holding mead would be. she hadnât found it yet. nor did she feel it. to be a god, or god-adjacent, she supposed. holding up her drink, she invited the other to join her at the bar. âthorâs gone around back, i believe to get some more restocks but i can help you .â she offered, raising a brow and turning to lean over the bar to count what thor had out and open. âplenty of drinks, yeah.â
đ â not the greeting she expected, nor the sight she beheld, when she set her heels into the bar. âme? really?â she mocked the comment, playfully. âi tend to get around.â but it was her first real visit to friggaâs. the most action she had around this side of town was chasing a bounty, but that was a fairly quick one. and maddie wasted little time to cash in and slip back into her shadows. but tonight was all recreation. she pulled herself up to the bar, stopping to admire the drunkard. âiâll have whatever youâre having, beautiful.â she smiled, devious and distracted â cheek leant against her palm. âwhoâs thor?âÂ
Lorna shrugged slightly as the other woman spoke. âIf you say so,â she said. She didnât really respond to threats well, even playful ones. She raised an eyebrow. âIs that an invitation?â she asked dryly. âThat sounds like a great way for me to end up on the eleven oâ clock news.â
đ â âYou think theyâd cover that?â It was a jab, but not with much thought behind it. No underlining meaning. âAnyway. I have been curious, but people definitely donât come back from there. Curiosity killing the cat and all that.âÂ
Illyana didnât want to bristle at the thought, but a part of her did (a part of her wondered if she always would). So much time had been spent splitting herself between her friends, her responsibility towards Krakoa, an entire revolution at one point, and Limbo. It was everything she hated, and she still somehow found herself returning. Maybe it wouldnât be such a bad thing, if Madelyne wore the crownâŚ
And yet the thought still tumbled uncomfortably in her chest, and she found herself scoffing. âIâm sure you wouldnât mind it. But could you handle it?â
đ â âDo you have to ask?â There was something behind her words, a seriousness Maddie had yet to incorporate â for anything, really, up until this point. âYou know, better than most, what been through Hell and back looks like.â She doesnât come off as offended, or even challenged. No, she was making a point, and for once had enough trust to believe Illyana would see it. Then she smirked again, wild and with a shrug. âWhatâs another one.âÂ
âď¸â Jean felt annoyance prickle at the back of her neck, she had always understood Madelynâs rage, of course she had, but when pointed in their direction it just seemed so childish. âJean Grey didnât ruin your life Madelyn. Stop being dramatic.â Another blast of psionic energy tearing through the warm air between them, Jeans own shield coming back up as they stepped closer to the clone. âYou really shouldnât live your life obsessed with me.â
đ â That was a new one. Hearing that out of their mouth, anyway, sounding so much like her Jean but after a few too many miles. And whatever else this one seemed to be on. âShe just loved the man who did, right?  Well, I donât care.â Madelyne was hyped up on psionic energy, flowing through and around her in waves. It left her a little excited, and feisty. âAn unfortunate side effect, I assure you.â She wasnât lying. If Maddie was obsessed with anyone, it was herselfâ first and foremost. âSo, where is Scott? Did Doom spare him too or, in his infinite wisdom, leave the sorry sack to rot?âÂ
It hadnât felt likely, but Illyana was beginning to enjoy visits from Madelyne. The people about whom she could say that were alarmingly few, but there was something about her. Maybe it was the similar dry wit.
âHavenât you heard? Thatâs my specialty.â She leaned up against the tree she was standing next to, going for casual despite the way any reference towards Limbo made her feel like she was somehow losing her footing. It wasnât the time or the place to think about the patchwork that was Limbo. âThough I have a feeling youâd give me a run for my money.â
đ â A playfulness danced across fiery eyes. âWitnessed,â she corrected. âSure you do. If you would just put in a little effort now and then...â It was old news, Madelyne finding Illyanaâs draw towards pacifism a bore. More than that, she found it pitiful; knowing the girlâs potential outweighed whatever morals she picked up over the years. âBut, I digress. I donât mind reigning.â As if that was ever in question. âI look the best in a crown.â
đ§Şâ âOh?â The goblin echoed back, eyes locking on the fire with Maddieâs. Harry was no stranger to hallucinations, voices mostly, but his reflection had become Norman one too many times to claim he had never seen anything that was never there. But whatever was happening now, as darkness rolled in, was something new. Something exciting. Harryâs heart raced without permission is his chest, like it was trying to leap out of his ribcage and into her touch. âA promise to be a good boy? Never. You know what they sayâŚâ What did they say? As Maddieâs fingers brushed over his throat it was hard to remember. âSo I guess that makes it a request.â
đ â âDonât go anywhere.â Teasing him for being so easily distracted, but delighted by the drunken look in his eyes. Madelyne liked this kind of submissive behavior; bending to her will because he wanted it, insolent for show. âI want you right here, with me,â she hypnotized, eyes never leaving him. Free hand teasing up the length of his belly â claws trailing gently up the flesh beneath his shirt. Searing, like hot pokers. Maddie kissed him... Her fangs, puncturing his adrenaline-swollen lip with a tug. âIâm going to remake you,â she whispered. âI promise.âÂ
âWhat the hell is wrong with this place?â Lorna had heard about the strange errands Doom had beenâŚwell, she supposed you couldnât really call it asking. Not with Doom. She herself tended to do whatever the hell she wanted â it was in her genes, after all. Come hell or high water, any child of Erik Lensherr was going to march to the beat of their own drum, however trite that phrase may be. She looked around as she spoke, in part to make sure that none of those pesky little DoomBots were around, and also to ensure that none of the weird shit people had been dealing with was creeping up on her. âFor the record, if we see a zombie around here, Iâm making your blood run backward and turning you into chum for it. Iâm getting away no matter what.â
đ â âHarsh. Bet Iâd get you first.â The demoness spoke in a purr, pausing to envision said scenario â but only for a moment. There was little hostility in her words. No more than her usual playfulness. âThat said, I hear the Deadlands are just exquisite. Arenât you a little bit curious?âÂ
đ§Şâ It was almost comedic how much Harry did mind her saying. The hair on the back of his neck suddenly uncomfortable against his collar. He had plenty of bite to go along with his bark, terrible bloody bites. âYou know being bored out of my mind doesnât make me eager to please..â She, whoever she really was, was close enough now that the warm breeze caused her hair to softly brush against his skin. Pomegranates, overwhelmed with sickly sweet that he could almost miss the undercut of Ash. Almost. ââŚjust open to opportunities.â There was something deeply dangerous packaged inside the cute package in front of him, his mind almost without permission flashing to sharpened nails against his throat, to the terrible bloody bites he was oh so proud of. Danger was addicting, and Harry was an addict through and through. âNo if you want me to be aâ Good Boy âyou have to break me first.â
đ â His reaction washed over herâ as sweet as it was fiery. Shivers of her own teased up her spine. Maddie had hit a nerve, and it delighted her. âOh.â Eyes wide & wild in discovery. He wasnât just an opportunist, as he claimed. He was a daredevil. She took that time to hook a finger in his shirt collar, pulling him in. Keeping him close. âIs that a promise?â she whispered, words reaching only the small space left between them. Her eyes fell to his lips, and when they looked back up, that red hot glow behind them was much more apparent. A dark fog began rolling in, shrouding their surroundings. Removing distraction. âOr a request?âÂ
âď¸â There was a buzzing deep in the back of the empaths mind, like a mosquito had gotten a hold of of a microphone pumped directly into their cerebellum. The familiarity clicked in the last moment. Oh Fun. Wood exploded into their saloon as a psionic fist burst through. There was a wild burning anger, energy younger than Jeanâs but as sour cherry as their memory of her had been.
White gold energy collected behind the Phoenixâs eyes, wood and debris collecting in a whirlwind and shooting back towards the clone. âYouâre a lot more of a spoiled brat than I remembered Maddie.â Another blast of energy and shrapnel send her way. Movement lazy but with purpose, the girl was a threat, even is she was mostly a pest. âIs that anyway to say hello to your elders?â
đ â Runes of magic spawned; bright and violet and fusing into a shield from her outstretched hands. âAw. Youâre just saying that.â The thought that this other Madelyne hadnât been nearly as up front about her feelings, it made the Goblin Queen pity her. âRight. I should have asked first: Did you ruin her life too?â Not that the answer could change anything. Maddie swung her arms back, flinging the rest of the debris outward and dispersing her shield. Grin now clear as day without the distortion of magic between them. âHello.âÂ
đ â âSight for sore eyes,â the queen greeted. Their relationship was objectively interesting; personally rewarding. Madelyne had found the sorcerous interesting, and that had grown into quite a bit more with every interaction. âHow are you getting on in Latverion? Enjoying our slice of home?â Krakoa didnât feel different than the one back on her universe, but she could denote the variations. The melding of all those realities. âAnd raising a little hell, I hope.âÂ
đ â âI hope you donât mind me saying,â she began, heels clicking ever so rhythmically against the concrete. Approaching her date. âYou got quite a bit of bark for being so eager to please.â It wasnât as cut and dry as that, of course, but she did notice his willingness to go along with her âneedy whimsâ the moment she made them clear. She stops, in front of him now, close enough to feel his breath. Her eyes meet his, a shimmering crimson to their color as she grazed the edge of his psyche. A smirk trekked across her painted lips. âOr is it something else?â
đ â Time was of the essence. If Madelyne had sensed the Phoenix, than surely the Phoenix had sensed her. There would be no upper hand here.. but she could get the first psionic punch in. Which was, comparably, the size of a sedan barreling through the saloon.
