14. our characters getting caught in the rain together
He had been waiting for at least a good ten minutes now. Normally, Carlos didn’t take this long to get out of class. Maybe it was some extra homework, maybe it was some classmate who needed help. Either way, Ricardo waited in the lobby, watching the other kids as they ran off. Some of them ran to their parents, others were still too busy playing before deciding to leave for the day. Still, he had his brother to wait for.
With a frown, he glanced up at the sky. There looked to be clouds on the horizon. Dark clouds. Thankfully, they didn’t live too far. If they walked, they’d be able to make it back home before the rain started. That failing, they could always just run.
A glance out the windows and he frowned, eyes narrowing. That looked pretty nasty and his teeth worried at his lower lip before he reached out, gently curling his fingers in Rico’s shirt sleeve. “The sooner we leave the more likely we’ll be to get home before this starts. It’s not any fun to be caught outside in it.” In fact, it made Carlos’s fear so much worse to be outside.
