Ah.. it's so bittersweet, I still remember when I watched the announcement trailer in 2021 and played the prologue during 2022 (It literally was my second Fangan I'm pretty sure). I remembered it existed early 2025 played Chapter 1 and the rest was history.. I am very glad I got to experience it all regardless of how it concludes! Though I think my favourite thing about the experience was all of the interactions and friends I made due to our shared interest in this Danganronpa Fanfic, that is irreplaceable.

Looking back, I was so insane about it. I remember reading the whole bible from start to finish in order to find some sort of biblical story parallel and I can practically name all of the animal symbolisms of by heart.. Sorry for the musings I will just really miss this series!

I think the best thing about danganronpa is that it's very bad and very good. Not so bad that it's good though, that's different. It's like, every individual aspect of danganronpa is awful, and if you try to explain it to people who haven't played it they give you That Look, but it's also, separately, very fun even though it sucks. "I like danganronpa" is a complete and difficult-to-challenge statement. "What do you like about danganronpa" is an impossible question to answer.

Some musings

I just realised Eva's trait of always looking at the negative in people is foreshadowed in the prologue as she's the one who opposed Wolfgang's belief that the class would not kill. It's so cool to me that we can see tiny unconcious cracks of Eva's 'true' persona when she's masquerading as the 'Ultimate Liar', it makes her feel so layered and realistic.

This also parallels Diana's trait of always looking at the positive in people. For example she especially of all people should know that Wolfgang is a deeply flawed individual yet she still insists of making sure that 'Wolfgang's kindness will never be forgotten.'

I was thinking about the Tozu Theatre earlier and I thought of an interesting point regarding a specific one. Tozu speaks on the myth of cats having nine lives, he also mentions (my memory is hazy) the fact that cats don't retain past memories of their lives thus unknowingly repeating their past mistakes, I believe this is a reference to both Wolfgang and Diana.

Wolfgang wishes to sever the association between him and his father, this adds irony to his final moments as he's unrefined, emotional, and violent (he even harms a woman which he believes is the worst thing a man could do), he unknowingly repeats his past life's (father's) mistakes.

As mentioned prior, Diana is insistent on taking up his leader role, mirroring and becoming Wolfgang (likely to account for her own lack of identity). She only looks at the positives, idolising Wolfgang and ignoring his flaws. By doing this she will unknowingly repeat her past life's (Wolfgang's) mistakes.

Despite only being one chapter in, these characters are so detailed characterised so well. I can find details and parallels in even the smallest of fluff scenes, there are no scenes which don't add even a little bit. I'm very excited to see what is to come when future characters have had even more screen time!

I believe it is the scenes in which a character acts unconsciously are the scenes which reveal the most about them.

I know we're all larping as Danganronpa fans ergo this is completely ironic and un-serious, but I genuinely do miss Danganronpa. I am going to be so (positively) annoying whenever 2x2 releases.
