do the gods listen to different music than mortals

Well, yes and no. Most of the music on the island is from the mortal realm. One of my unofficial jobs is to bring music back to the gods realm however, since this is so inefficient the gods and goddess have typically behind on popular music. There is also music on the island that I lose track off. Maybe some birds pick up on a mortal melody, or Mila brings something back when she goes to the mortal world, or Emil steals an instrument but I have found music on the island that I have never heard, and most of the time since I can’t find the source I can’t definitively confirm that it exsists in the mortal realm. Not to mention that the other gods and goddess can learn to play instruments. I can…only replecate  what already exsists but I have heard that the god of light can play an insturment. Perhaps he has written some songs?
