People always tell me I'm the only one who understands, A refrain echoing from friends and lovers, past and present. I used to wonder why they'd say such things, Until tears blurred my vision across from you.
In that vulnerable moment, it hit me hard— You don't truly know me, despite our closeness. And suddenly, I understood the pain of everyone else, Whose hearts cried out, 'You're the only one who gets me.'
How bittersweet to realize, No one will ever fit into the space I hold, The way I do for so many.
