Bugs are very important to their culture. Obviously because anyone with eyes can spot physical similarities but also because they believe bugs are an important part of the ecosystem and that the world would collapse without them.
They actually used to be very close with the Leafwings and Silkwings because Wasp’s grandmother came to power and they started to distance themselves.
Before the tree wars they only had one hive. It was huge and that was all they needed.
Silkwing and Hivewing hybrids used to be very common.
It’s very uncommon but they can sometimes have pink scales.
It’s also uncommon for a hivewing to be born with all the powers, yet not impossible. Though this can lead to some unfortunate conditions (I made a detailed post about this once. Hopefully y’all can still find it)
The Bloodworm hive has a few underground levels. Unfortunately when it was burning down, the weight of the normal hive levels collapsing caused parts of the underground levels to collapse and many dragons got buried alive.
Due to the Tsetse Hive having a larger population of non infected hivewings, there have been multiple riots in the past and attempts to contact other hivewings and let them know that what’s happening is wrong. None of these riots and contact were successful and because of these incidents there is a large incarceration problem up there. Out of all the hives, the residents here are treated with the least respect by their Queen.
Hivewings are not immune to venom of their own species. Similar to sandwings, remedies are common in shops.
This is probably canon but whatever. The hives are the most technologically advanced places in this dragon world.
The plate like scales on their bodies will get more fragile once they are elderly.
Bee keeping is a popular career.
Lots of bugs are kept as pets a lot.
The date of Clearight’s arival is a HUGE part of their culture. It’s like that for all the Pantala tribes but it’s celebrated for multiple days in the hives.
As dragonet’s and hatchlings, their wings beat fast like a dragonfly. As they get older, they start to fly more like normal dragons.
Hivewing venom is pretty flammable (yes, this is a thing that happen with venom irl)
