thinking about how chronic mental and/or physical illness affects ur perception of normality

like, a bad day for a healthy person is my baseline. and their baseline is my really good day

and if it stays that way for a long time, u get used to it. u accept it as ur normality. and partly because of this, if the outside circumstances, people around u, or some other aspect of ur life suddenly changes for the better - u feel weird. u feel lost, scared even. because it feels too good compared to ur baseline. to what u've accepted as normal. even if this "too good" is objectively just normal and kind. its scary because, what if it suddenly disappears? what if it goes back to what it was? and its really hard to get used to and accept even one aspect of ur life that changed to a higher standard of "normal"
