don't infantilise yourself. you are not a child who needs an adult to make your decisions for you. you are a splendid and magnificent autocrat and you are consulting your trusted advisors. you are exercising great wisdom by inviting an expert to give their opinion before making your ruling. often the path of wisdom is to say "good morning, I'm trying to [perform task] and I have a question about [aspect], can you tell me who I should speak to for advice?" before you do it. sometimes the path of wisdom is to hire a plumber. there are times when you cannot do things for yourself but that doesn't mean you are not an adult. you don't need a grown-up. you need a specialist.

It's been three years. Vash is haunted by the events of the past, sometimes literally, and still coming to terms with his grief. He's... not doing a very good job. But then a flash of gold and a ghostly whisper open his mind to other possibilities...
I bought a poster of fanart for this, is how much I love it. In case you were wondering. This is just such a unique fix-it, I've truly never seen an idea like this before, and the tension of Wolfwood being there but not there and Vash having to trust he's not just lost his mind is sssoooooooooooo!!!!!
Hey. Your brain needs to de-frag. Literally it needs you to sit there and space out.
If you want your memory or executive function to improve, stare out a window at the skyline or sidewalk or trees or birds on the electrical wires for like 20+ minutes per day. (With no other stimulation like a podcast or TV if you can manage but hey baby steps innit). If you're fortunate enough to have safe outside with any bits of nature, go stare closely at a 1 meter square of grass and trip out on the bugs and shapes of grasses and stuff.
Literally this will make you smarter. Our brains HAVE TO HAVE this zone out time to do important stuff behind the scenes. This does not happen during sleep, it's something else.
That weird pressurized feeling you get sometimes might be your brain on no defrag.
Give your brain a Daily Dose Of De-Frag.

Also, if you don't take the time regularly, your brain will do it for you. Usually when you're already stressed and it gets to be too much. You will zone out. And you can not control it. So regular maintenance will help
Love love love characters that present themselves as emotionally open social butterflies but the more you see of them the more obvious it is that they’re the most closed off fuckers in the story. Sure, they want to help you with your personal problems and messy emotions, but if you turn that shit back on them, they’ll shut down or deflect every time. Why are you sticking your nose in their business anyway? It’s not like it matters. They’re not a person, they’re just a role being played. They’re the guy who fixes things and saves people. Please ignore the man behind the mask, he’s fine. Everything’s fine.

There's a million to do list apps out there and I have tried half of them. I'm sure there's more that are great, but I found one that works for me.
Fellow havers of ADHD who thrive on novelty of a new organization system and spent hours setting up a new to do app every couple of months, this might help you too.

It's like one dude doing the thing, and he's been great. Super quick to answer any questions and made a crapton of help, intro, tips, tricks. Heck, me asking a question of how to just sort out the past due got me two ways to filter for close enough and the suggestion on the next update.
Free works great. Premium will get you more tags, cross device syncing, and sharing lists. None of which I use because I use a million lists instead of tags, am glued to my phone, and do not habe anyone to share with. Bonus for me is that it also has a lifetime premium option to just buy once instead of monthly.
But hey if you enter in all your stuff to remember, and then set up a schedule and reminders and lists and all that, and then after a few weeks or months, it's just not happening? Shuffle that deck into a new organization. Bam. free dopamine of a new start.
Also it added in a recent do of snoozing a reminder. Telling it to bug off for a few minutes, hours, days... That helped me when I was in the throes of a project and was absolutely not going to do the laundry that day.
Anyway this app has stuck around with me for three years now and that is a feat for my affinity to novelty.
Hey I'm back to gush about another app that has helped me a lot. It's Screen Zen and it helps me not get stuck in scrolling. It is super customizable that you can ask it to block apps during certain schedules, make you do breathing exercises, or have a wait time before opening apps, or do a reminder, or just let you use certain apps for a limited time before turning off for a cool down time. It can even do all this for specific websites!
I use it for what I've listed but it can do more. It can cut you off after a daily limit, and you can set it to suggest alternative apps. Or it can increase wait time before opening apps if you still keep opening them. There's also a grace period unlock that skips the wait but is super brief for access. Says it's for quick messages but I have not used it.
Anyway this is a free app, but you can optionally tip to unlock a custom lock screen and I used it a week before deciding it was worth it to have
Every time I try to open my distraction apps.
