Hi! I was just curious if you have any good first time VW fics that you could recommend? Iâm trying to find this certain fic in that category but Iâm also open to new readings as well!
First of all, I'm so sorry about taking so long to get to this! Life sure does keep life-ing, so I've been a little busy.
The good news is that there are so many incredible first time fics for our boys. The bad news is that I couldn't possibly list them all here, but I'll give you a few of my favorites. To keep it simple, these are all in the canon universe and I tried to do fics where the first time is the main focus.
Also, feel free to send in the specifics of the fic you're looking for if you want. I may be able to track it down for you!!
Honestly, Procrastinatingbookworm is simply the best when it comes to emotional Vashwood, and this one is really just so fucking potent. I reread this all the time.

Vash wakes to a rare, peaceful morning with Wolfwood in the same roomâthe morning after Wolfwood aimed his gun at Vash's head and didn't shoot.
As the summary implies, this is focused on the aftermath of that time Wolfwood chose not to shoot Vash even though he scares the ever-loving shit out of him. That panel in the manga rewired my fucking brain and I will never recover. These men are so broken. I hate them (i love them so much, send help)

âNicholas, then, remembers something very important. This is Vash the Stampede, the Humanoid Typhoon. A walking atom bomb, a demi-god. And he just willingly pressed the man's shooting hand onto his dick.
He hated that it was doing something for him.â
Or, after the Ark rescue, the boys share a final drink and the rituals get intricateâŚuntil theyâre not.
Listen, all the great first time fics are angsty, cause these boys are angsty. Apparently, they're all Trimax as well. Chenama's voice is just so beautiful and, yeah, the rituals make me feel like I'm dying. This one is high on the reread list.

There are small things to be noticed, if you know to look, that make Vash just a little less human.
(Or, Wolfwood warms up to the parts of Vash that arenât quite human.)
Now, this one is cute! Vash is still angsty, cause Vash is always angsty, but it's also precious. I love seeing Wolfwood unabashedly accept the parts of Vash that are not quite human and the way it doesn't quite compute in Vash's brain. Also, you should just read like everything Flower has written. They're a Vashwood powerhouse

âThis is fucking insane,â Wolfwood exhales as he looks at Vash.
âYouâre the one coming in and picking a fight,â Vash says, but the petulance in his voice seems diluted. Itâs fair. Wolfwood doesnât need to be a voice of reason either. âAnd making me hit you.â
Heâs right, but Wolfwood doesnât want him to be. Wolfwood wants too many things in the moment to pay attention to that though, and all those things are centered around Vash the Stampede.
âYou wanna do it again?â Wolfwood says, his mind spinning so fast that he feels like steam will come out of his ears. Heâs more acutely aware than ever that Vash is shirtless; thereâs a growing desire within Wolfwood to see how it would feel to find his sensitive spots with his tongue.
âWhat?â Vash blinks, and Wolfwood digs his fingers into his jaw. âPunch you or kiss you?â
*giggles insanely* I love it when they don't know if they're fucking or fighting! I love the characterization in this one a lot, and you could give me anything Zan writes and I would absolutely devour it whole. Ugh, they just make each other so unmoored, it makes me insane.
I hope there's some fics in there you enjoy! If you want some more in the vein of cute first times, AUs, ect., please let me know! I love getting asks and I now that I've got more time for this blog, I can actually answer you in a reasonable amount of time lol
Also, again, don't hesitate to let me know the details of the fic you're looking for and we can track it down!
Nicholas thinks that he and the cute blonde who sits next to him in class could have a good time together. The two start a beautiful friends-with-benefits-ship. Surely, no feelings will get caught in the mix.
Look, I love college AUs, okay?? I love them so much, and I love the stupid pining that's specific to friends with benefits tropes, and I love an annoyingly confident Wolfwood who starts flirting with Vash almost immediately! This fic has all of that, plus Livio and Midvalley and Meryl and Milly, and laser tag! I am THRIVING!!!
Vash has a new upstairs neighbor he hasn't met yet but has heard moving boxes around and occasionally some swearing and a loud thump. Normal move-in stuff. Heâs curious but wants to give the new guy a chance to settle in before introducing himself. It's on the third night after move-in that Vash hears a series of alarming crashes, some very creative swearing, and then dead silence.
I think about this fic all the time. It's so cute. They're so cute they actually make me sick and I cannot stand them. I love them so much it's unhealthy. Imagine checking on your upstairs neighbor and realizing you've seen them before in very compromising positions and also, yeah, they are still that hot.
And as a snake owner myself, the fact that Wolfwood has a ball python that he's named Punisher is so important to me, I really want another snake just to do that now ugh
Nicholas spends most of his time eating their meager rations and sitting at Vashâs bedside. Heâll need to leave the room soon for proper food and more water, but right now, he canât bring himself to move from his side.
(Or, Vash is poisoned. Wolfwood tries to take care of him.)
I go feral when whump for one of them is really whump for both of them through the pure torture of watching each other suffer. And for some reason I really love when Vash is poisoned. Likely because I love it when Wolfwood is forced to take care of him, and therefore face not only the depth of his care for him, but also the fact that his hands are still capable of the kindness that he thought killing had wrenched from him.
Shaking the two of them in a box and then throwing them in a blender. They drive me insane, make them suffer.
âFor the past seven months,â Vash begins, âthere has been one night per month where Wolfwood has just disappeared from the apartment.â
âWhich are also the nights that Chapel took his last seven victims,â Meryl repeats. Chapel being the freaky assassin/serial killer who has been terrorising their small town for the past year or so. The majority of these killings have seemed to have some kind of political motiveâbut not all of them. A few of the victims have been wealthy heirs or prominent celebrities, too. But the fact remainsâ
âI thought it was just a freaky coincidence at first. I mean, Wolfwoodâs⌠a college student, and a barista. Thereâs no way heâs actuallyâŚâ He lets out a laugh, and itâs reedy, betraying his nerves. Vash winds his fingers through the hair on the back of his head and thinks idly it might be time for a trim. âBut then there were the other thingsâlike the way he stopped that car from hitting Millie.â
Millie nods sagely. âThat was very impressive. The car dented!â
---
Vash trusts his roommate of almost a year, but not to a fault. He'd have to be an idiot to ignore the clear warning signs, and they all point to Wolfwood being... a serial killer.
As a general rule, I have some complicated feelings about Wolfwood as a werewolf, despite the fact that I have a massive soft spot for werewolves of all kinds. I read this anyway because I love Aurora's writing and trust them with topics I otherwise avoid, and I desperately wish there was more!
Wolfwood is so cute???? And Vash's misunderstanding of his roommate's absences is so fucking funny. The way Wolfwood's background is woven in is delightful, as well. Overall it's funny and cute and wonderfully emotional at the end and I wanna read so much more, I swear I'm going to explode about it. I love them!
âLetâs get you patched up,â he murmured. âI wonât let you fart around until you pass out.â
âI can do it myself,â Vash said, sliding his jacket off his shoulders. âYou donât have to help.â
âJust shut up, would you?â Wolfwood grumbled. âLet someone else take care of you for once.â
_
A reimagining of the scene in episode 10 where Wolfwood pulls out the bullet instead of Vash doing it on his own.
It's truly what it says one the tin! Wolfwood takes care of Vash when he gets shot at the end of Tristamp, and they are subsequently forced to talk about their shit before things go really down hill for everyone.
I really like the reimagining of scenes like this, especially where they deal with Wolfwood's reactions to Vash's scars and Vash's reaction to... well, Wolfwood is general tbh. A little bit of fluff before our boys really go through it.
Wolfwood can't help the feelings he's begun having for his strange, nomad friend, Vash, and he thinks Vash feels it, too. If it were just him, the decision would be easy, but he's got all his kids at the orphanage to think about, as well.
When a stomach flu begins making the rounds through the orphanage, Wolfwood relies on Vash's help to care for everyone. As the medicine runs out and things start getting desperate, Vash reveals a secret he hopes can help heal everyone. But as Wolfwood succumbs to the illness himself, he might be beyond reasoning.
Ouuuaaghh I really really love this one. I have a soft spot for canon divergences where Wolfwood was allowed to just be some guy, and eventually take over the orphanage. But he still somehow runs into Vash anyway, and they still develop their strange and singular relationship. This is a particularly fun way to explore that, with the scales being tipped because of a sweeping sickness rather than anything violent.
Also they're so fucking domestic. Domestic and cute and soft and OUGH i hate them (I love them so much)
Some of this must be obvious from Wolfwoodâs expression, because Vashâs eyes are soft. He says, âI want you to tie me up.â
â...Eh?â
âItâs not going to be totally the same,â Vash continues, despite Wolfwoodâs jaw dropping. He turns so that theyâre facing each other, his knees angled towards Wolfwoodâs chest, his eyes very intent. âBecause I can escape from most bonds, and Iâll still be able to move in little ways, not like I was whenââ Vashâs voice wobbles and dies out, returning a moment later as if the falter never happened at all. ââbut youâre the only person I know who is strong enough to restrain me at all, and it wouldnât be safe to experiment with drugs, soâŚâ
Wolfwood blinks. Manages to shut his mouth, so heâs not just gaping up into Vashâs face like one of those fish from the old history books.
âYou want to do⌠exposure therapy?â Wolfwood croaks.
---
With Vash still struggling with the trauma from his time on the Ark, he asks Wolfwood to help him work through his issues.
Prequel: Deer In Headlights
The trust!! The care!!!! The devotion!! Wolfwood wants so badly to help but he doesn't want to risk hurting Vash!! The way they talk to each other and how much more open it is after everything they've been through. Ouuuuaagghh god I'm wrapping them both in blankets and sobbing.
âShit,â Wolfwood breathes. He slides his hands down Vashâs back to cradle under his arms, hefting him upright. Itâs obvious that whatever dart Vash was hit with, it was poisonedâbut what kind of poison did they use to knock Vash down so bad after so short a time? Then again, all the movement directly after the hit canât have helped. Wolfwood clicks his tongue, throwing a short glance back at the town they just left. He canât chance it; thatâs the same place that hit him with the damn thing. But the next town is hours out, maybe longer. Is Vash going to make it without a doctor?
ââS notâŚâ Vashâs head lolls in the other direction, his eyelashes fluttering until his lids fall open completely. âI donât think itâs⌠poison.â
Wolfwood snaps back to reality. âWhat else would you call it?â
âProbably justâŚâ Vashâs brow creases. âIf they wanted me for the bounty, they wouldnât have shot me with aâŚâ His lips move soundlessly for a moment before he finds his voice again. âI canât move.â
---
A poisoned dart renders Vash immobile in the aftermath of a shoot-out with some bounty hunters. He and Wolfwood muscle through as always, but Vash is reminded of the last time he couldn't move...
Sequel: Trust Fall Exercise
I just love the relationship and dynamic between them here. Aurora does a wonderful job writing the emotion and panic and care between both of them. It's honestly kind of amazing what they can do with a scene where one character cannot move and they're both hiding out in a cave. I'm so well fed.
"By themselves those impressions wouldnât be enough to trigger this inkling of⌠wrongness clinging to Vash like desert dust. For how prone he is to depressive mood swings, Vash smiles often and everywhere. No matter if heâs getting shot at, betrayed, kicked to the dirt and spit on â he picks himself up and laughs and keeps going, keeps outrunning the shadow of his brother towards a perpetually uncertain horizon.
Nobody wears fake cheer that well without something to hide."
Glimpse by glimpse, the gang pieces together who Vash the Stampede really is.
Oh, I really do just adore when Vash gets Known, and seeing it in Stampede is very singular. That version of Vash is very specific, I feel like, and softer in many ways. I love Jess's characterization of him, and his relationships with each person. The weary understanding from Roberto, the stubborn care from Meryl, and the painful devotion from Wolfwood are all so deliciously warm and heartbreaking in equal measure.
And the Eriks section!!!!!! Crying, sobbing, screaming. So many beautiful things that you just have to read. I love them. I love themmm!!!
Hey sorry if this isn't the place to ask: I read a vashwood fic a couple days ago where Vash was talking about plant stuff and how saying to people "Hey baby wanna pollinate me?" usually doesn't get people going but that that line would probably work on Wolfwood because "He was kinda into the plant stuff". Do you or any of your followers recognize it? It mighta been a heat fic. I'm so sorry if I sound like a crazy person.
This is absolutely the right place to ask, and I'm so glad you did!! I did a lot of searching through my backlog and AO3 in general and could not find this fic, though I swear I have read the one you're talking about.
If anyone recognizes this fic, please let us know!! I wanna read it again now too...
Wolfwoodâs palm landed on Vashâs forehead, heavy and warm and edged with the sharp bite of calluses.
The world went white.
Vash had learned long ago that time was different for humans. They needed nearly a quarter of a second to react to anything, and Vash had fundamentally shifted his systems to stay aligned to that, because life got boring fast when everything moved slower than you. But the weight of Wolfwoodâs hand on his forehead opened up the gulf between the click of the second hand, and Vash was falling, falling, falling, through endless milliseconds of blinding light as a bell tone rang in his bones and started to vibrate outwards--
Deep inside Vash, a door labeled NICHOLAS D. WOLFWOOD opened to let a spark through, one unmistakably flavored with cigarette smoke and gunpowder and all-encompassing guilt. A soul with a direct line to his. A connection between two fucked up points.

A '98 soulmates fix-it rewrite about two people badly hurt by life learning how to stop hurting each other and earn the happy ending they deserve. Complete at 85k and 14 chapters, posting weekly on Sundays.
OUGHH this is genuinely so fucking beautiful and awesome!!! Probably my favorite rewrite of the ending of 98, and the mechanics for the way Vash and Knives work as plants is really just so fucking cool. Not to mention the whole soulmate bond, it's crazy and fucked up for both of them, and they're so so stupid about it and I love them so much.
Just two broken dudes dealing with being forceable bonded and being in each other's heads.
Nearly a year has passed since Wolfwood's sudden death. A widowed Vash decides to use a Ouija board in a last ditch effort to try and speak with Wolfwood on his birthday. Although, he may get more than he bargained for.
This made me!! So sad!!!!!! Wolfwood's little nickname for Vash took me the fuck out. Oh, Ghost Wolfwood, how you have me by the heart. Ough. Will be sobbing when we get more of this. Bendy out here breaking my heart so good
The first time he saw him he was sniffling in an alley wearing a grubby once-white dress. Wolfwood had been on his own for about two weeks at that point.
He had gotten some okay work as a farmhand for an old man, assisting with the thomas chicks. The pay was nothing but he got to stay in the barn and the chicks were fun to corral, eager little things.
Thatâs what the boy reminded him of, a tiny thomas chick, crying and huddled in a corner.
This is cute. They're so cute and pathetic, and I love when they've known each other so long that they don't know how to tell platonic affection apart from romance and desire and I love them.
âWelcome in,â said the teen, pouring Wolfwoodâs change into his hand. Wolfwood looked up and towards the door. Dark eyes met light ones. There was a brief moment of charged silence as they gaped at each other.
His face was as ageless as ever. His hair, now dark and long, was pulled into a knot on the back of his head. A few strands hung free, framing his blue eyes, brushing against elegant cheekbones. His lips were parted in shock. Wolfwood had pressed kisses to them, once. The last time, heâd cradled his face in a gentle apology. Wolfwood was the only one who had known that it was a goodbye.
âNope,â said Vash the Stampede, now only a few centuries older, violently shaking his head. âNope,â he said again, backing out the door the way he came.Â

Over two hundred years into the future, Wolfwood crawls out of his grave and back into Vash's arms.
Ooooohhh I love this one!! I feel like it's not often that the fandom does fix-its with huge time gaps between Wolfwood's death and when he comes back, but they are always so, so good when they do!! There are lines in this that live in my head rent free. This fic lives in my head rent free, and now it can live in yours too.
Drop a man two hundred years into the future and see what that does to him. Drop him in front of the man who loved him and see what that does to him.
He thinks about Vashâs finger slipping. About his head becoming chunks of brain matter stuck to this scratchy comforter, about the motel maid having to pick up the pieces of him. What a fate for a freed bird. Fight so hard and still die like a dog, stuck under the thumb of another master. It couldnât happenâneither of them would let it happen, his vials tucked safely on the nightstand, but the idea of it drives him insane with want.
Listen. Something in my brain has been rewired to go absolutely feral anytime Wolfwood has Feelings about Vash pointing a gun at him or thinking about him pulling the trigger. Intrusive thoughts Wolfwood, my love, my obsession. Holy shit this one really hits all those boxes.
When Nicholas D. Wolfwood gets roped into being the new caretaker for the now-abandoned orphanage where he spent his childhood, he soon finds out that his own hidden memories are not the only thing haunting him. (posting in installments!)
First of all, anything Tenshi writes is going to find its way onto the blog at some point or another, so this should surprise no one. The characterization is always on-fucking-point. But this creature Vash especially makes me insane, and the overall world building???? Oh man, there is shit that I Did Not See Coming.
Also Livio, I love you. Holy shit.
I am eating this AU whole. Unhinging my jaw like a snake.
