Becoming healthier is more than losing weight. I’m going to improve the quality of my life.
Affirmation of the day. (via ohkaleeyeahh)
Glowvember is a reminder to self-care. It’s that simple. Often it is small, simple things that make us feel better or feel good, but frequently it’s those very same things we overlook and ignore as daily life unfolds…especially during the hectic holiday season . This month-long holistic wellness challenge is an effort, on my part, to remember to engage with those small, wonderful aspects of existence and to take some responsibility for my well-being. The goal is to be glowing by the end of the month. It may seem lofty, but it’s certainly possible! And I would love for others to join in!
You’ll see the daily ‘assignments’ are pretty repetitive and the tasks are fairly manageable and adaptable, even for the busiest person. The repetitveness is largely due to the fact that I didn’t want myself or anyone else who decides to join in to feel overwhelmed or bogged down by an endless to-do list and then give up. The flexibility is because everyone has different abilities and needs, and, well, life can be pretty unpredictable.
I invite all of you to join me who just want to feel better, more energized, less stressed, happier…etc. If an activity makes you want to kick and scream and run away, simple substitute it for something that feels good to you! If you’re not in the mood to do something, that’s fine, too. Keep in mind these are activities that have helped me in the past, if they don’t help you ditch ‘em and replace them. I’m always open to seeing how other people take care of themselves, so please share! Just try your best and do what you can. Take it one day at a time.
Side note: Treat yoself days are a free-for-all, uniquely you day. It’s these days where you can do whatever you want that celebrates and treats you to a good time. Maybe you indulge in a hot bath, buy something for yourself, read a book, get dolled up, do a kick ass workout, have a fancy dinner, take a nap, just RELAX, binge a show, bake a pie and eat the whole thing, etc. The possibilities are really and truly endless. It’s up to you to decide what you need and want and to go for it!
I would enjoy seeing your posts, but there’s no requirement to share. #Glowvember2017 is where I will be, offering love, support, and encouragement to anyone who plays along!
If you need an explanation of any tasks, send me a message or an ask or what have you. I’ll be happy to answer and even happier for the company on this journey. I’ve made the daily prompts pictures instead of text, so it’s easier to save to your phone (they’re cut off in the preview so make sure to click them). If you want the list instead, though, let me know!
Honestly, my goal at the gym is to become so hot that no man will ever speak to me ever again… purely out of intimidation

~weird~ weight loss tips!
not sure how many of these work, but i thought they were interesting!
take vitamins! you might be eating more because your body is craving nutrients. vitamins would help curb that subconscious reason for eating!
sit at the end of the table at restaurants. bread baskets / chips / etc. are normally put in the center! if you’re further away, you’ll eat less.
sleep in a super dark room! in studies, mice who slept in darker environments / had less unusually timed light exposure weighed less
watch less tv / spend less time online. you’ll find other things to occupy your time, which will likely involve movement in some way!
eat off of smaller plates! your brain thinks you’re eating more because so much of the plate is taken up
eat spicy foods! you’ll eat less, and it’s a metabolism booster
eat bread last! you’ll consume less carbs, because you’ll already have such a full tummy by the time you get there
sleep in a cold room! your body will have to eat up more calories while it tries to keep itself warm
only eat candy that you have to unwrap individually! so no skittles or m&ms. studies show you eat 40% less if you have to stop for unwrapping between each piece.
burn a vanilla-scented candle or wear vanilla-scented lotion during meals! the scent helps to curb the appetite- in one study, people who wore the scent lost an average of 4 and a half pounds!
surround yourself with the color blue! in studies, people eat 33% less while in a blue room than one with warmer colors
if you’re eating out, pay with cash! paying with physical money makes you more conscious of how much you’re paying, and therefore, how much you’re eating
eat with someone! (unless they’re a chronic over-eater.) when you’re alone, one study reports that you tend to eat up to three times more!
take pictures of EVERYTHING you eat. you’ll have to stop to think about what you’re eating, and seeing just how much you’re consuming over time will encourage you to skip the extra candy bar. bonus: POST pictures of everything you eat. knowing other people see what you consume will provide psychological motivation for eating healthier / eating less.
sniff food every chance you get! it tricks your brain into thinking you’ve eaten already- this has encouraged up to 33 pounds of weight loss in studies
Self improvement
Did you ever realize how much your body loves you? It’s always trying to keep you alive. It’s making sure you breathe while you sleep, stopping cuts from bleeding, fixing broken bones, finding ways to beat the illnesses that might get you. Your body literally loves you so much. It’s time you start loving it back.
Fuck. I needed this.
i owe my body so many apologies
