i find it #funny that anaïs et al will say hadestown is feminist for giving eurydice agency in the story, unlike the original myth where shes killed by a snake, in hadestown shes given a "choice" to go to the underworld. but shes on the brink of starvation and makes the "choice" because the other option is death (which is funny because working in the underworld is analogical to actual death, as referenced several times throughout the story). so what choice was she actually given here. "work or starve" argument 👎
