"Ayo man, can I at least get my phone call?" I asked through the metal bars. The white officer turned his head in my direction, before swiftly scoffing and turning back to the small boxed TV on his desk.
"Punk ass." I mumbled under my breath. I threw myself back on the stone they called a bed, and put my head in my hands. I’m not exactly sure how long I’ve been here for, but Its done gone light outside and is now sunset. The officer sat down rose to his feet to greet another officer. They spoke among themselves before nodding in my direction and strutting over.
"You’ve been released on bail. Someone out there loves you, kid." He chuckled. I tilted my head to one side before frowning,
"Well, bail was set at 2,000." He shrugged. My jaw dropped a little before speculating who it could of been at the reception. Ali? Naw man, that niggas broke as a joke. Cole…? No…he broke too. The broke down lights inside the station flickered a couple times as I stepped out to the reception. The smile across my face broke out when I saw her. Her dimples flashed quickly before she signaled me over.
"The fuck did you do?" She chuckled once we got out the station. I shook my head and pulled open her Range doors and climbed inside.
"Man, Ali and Cole’s whack ass forced me into the house to grab a couple things. Owner came back, Kenny got caught. As per usual." I laughed. She shook her head before joining the gesture.
"Never put you down as a hoodrat, Kendrick." She sighed, turning he key in the ignition. I shook my head trying to defend myself, but she just shook it off.
"Never judge a book by it’s cover…"She shrugged.
"I don’t even want to speak about it right now." I laughed, She clearly didn’t give a fuck as to what I gotta say. I decided to not say anything, till a thought rung in my head that I couldn’t quite shift.
"Sherane, how did you know I was in there?" I asked. She turned to me before turning off the ignition and smiling.
"You wanna come in? No ones home and you look like you need a hot meal." She laughed. I chuckled before looking nervously around.
"I’m not taking no for an answer." She shrugged before climbing out the car. I sat still in the car for a moment before she tapped the window.
I pulled off my air maxes at the door as soon as I entered her house. I scrunched up my eyebrows at the different furnishings and wall coverings before speaking up.
"Wait, hold on." She spun around. "Is this a different house than the one I was at a couple days ago, or am I trippin’ ?"
"Different." She laughed. "This my granny house. I live here mostly." The smell of soul food and the humming of day time TV lingered in the distance as I got a sense of comfort in me.
"Oh, nice in here." I nodded, looking around. She laughed before grabbing my hand and pulling me up the stairs behind her. We walked along the hallway, passing about 4 bedrooms before she stopped walking.
"This your room?" I asked once she walked in. I followed after her, shutting the door behind me. She nodded before pulling off her jacket and dropping down on the bed below her.
"This is my getaway." She smiled. I stood awkwardly, my back against the door as she plumped herself up on her elbows.
"Come sit." She instructed. I did exactly as she said. We began talking about everything and everyone, until the events of yesterday sparked up.
"So, What you’re saying is: you got stuck and they ran and left you…" She said slowly. I leaned back against the headboard before opening my mouth to speak,
"Yeah, but…I mean, no, It wasn’t like that." I shrugged. She packed her hair back away from her face before nodding.
"Kendrick, if they really wanted you out that house, it wouldn’t of been hard to break that shit and drag you the fuck out." She shrugged.
"Look, I know it seems fucked up, but they’re my homies. They wouldn’t do that kind of shit to me."
"So, where’s Ali now, huh? Or Cole?" She laughed. I looked down at her before she arched her brow up at me.
"Whatever. I don’t blame them for me getting caught. I should’ve followed my own instinct and stayed my black ass at home." I laughed. She leaned herself up against me, before putting her back against the headboard.
"You know what your problem is, Kendrick?"
"What’s my problem, Sherane?"
"You expect too much from one person, that you don’t see the bad in em’. Even when It’s staring you right in the face…" She said lowly. I watched as her lips moved and seen as the smirked played on her lips. Her eyes looked directly into mine, her head moving closer to mine until it was centimeters away. She wrapped her arms around my head and pulled me in closer to her.
"So what about you? Are you bad?" I asked, pulling my jacket off. She placed her lips over mine slowly before pulling away.
"Hell yeah." She laughed, pulling her shirt off.
Cole called me, saying he was on his way to my house so we could go get Kdot. That was 4 hours ago. I cursed under my breath as I reached over to the coffee table, got my keys and headed to my car. I haven’t yet told his mom about him being locked up, his dad told me not too, but instructed me to bring him round to their crib once they released him.
I’m telling you, ever since Kendrick left, Cole’s been acting different. He’s become self-centered and oblivious to all the wrongings he’s done. I mean, you think the old Jermaine would allow his boy to be kept overnight in a fucking cell? I don’t think so. He acting real Shady, but I will get to the bottom of it.

"Jermaine!" I yelled outside his house door. I knocked twice more, before sucking my teeth and turning to walk away.
"Aliiiiii!" I heared behind me.
"J? The fuck man? I’ve been calling and calling, where the fuck you been?" I rushed out. His eyes were low and red, and the insides of his house smelled sweaty and musty.
"Chillin’? You been chilling? Man, you forgot that Kendrick locked up in a cell, for something we made him do?" I asked. His eyes widened like he’s just now remembered, but I didn’t buy it.
"Just hurry the fuck up. I’ll be in the car." I mumbled, storming off to my car. 10 minutes later, out came Cole. He pulled his hoodie over his head and climbed into my car. He looked around before chuckling to himself.
"And you need to get your motherfucking priorities in check, but you don’t hear me making complaints." I spat back. His head snapped up at me before he leaned back in his seat.
"I don’t know why the fuck you speaking to me like that, but you need to take it easy." He said slowly.
"No man, see that’s your problem." I said. "Not everything is something that We can ‘take easy’! You know how Kendrick is. He prolly having a mental break down in there. He isn’t built for shit like this." I shrugged.
"And that’s my problem? He’s a grown ass man." He said back. I bit down on my jaw, fighting the urge to sucker punch this bitch ass in his mouth, before parking up outside the station. J clicked his belt off, before I held out my arm.
"Stay in your seat. You stink of weed. Going In there like that, isn’t a great idea." I suggested. He looked at me before nodding.
"Whatever." He mumbled, pulling on his hoodie. I shook my head at his basic image, before making my way to the station.
"Uh, Hi, I’m looking for my friend Kendrick? He was brought in here last night?" I spoke to the sexy police woman working behind the desk. She smiled at me, once she looked up from the computer.
"Says here, he’s been released already. Somebody bailed him out." She spoke. I scrunched up my eyebrows before thinking over Who it could be.
"Did you see what they looked like, ma’am?"
"No, sorry. But the name given was S.Johnson." She shrugged. I thought over before shaking my head.
"Well, Thanks anyway." I smiled at her. She blushed a little before nodding and turning back to her monitor screen.
"They said he was already released." I said, still dumbfounded. J sat up in his seat before pulling his hoodie off.
"By who?" He asked, with the sane expression I had on my face.
"Man, I don’t know. An S.Johnson." I shrugged. J scoffed beside me before he sighed. I looked to him and he rolled his eyes before sinking back into the seat.
"I know who got him." He said, looking down at his watch.
"Take a right at the lights." He instructed. I looked at him for a moment longer before clearing my throat and starting the engine.
I pushed my head through the opening of my sweater, before turning to Sherane. She clung onto the covers wrapped tightly around her body as I stood up.
"Are you leaving?" She smiled. I nodded before feeling my phone vibrate in my pocket.
"Sup?" I said, without looking at the name. Sherane rolled her eyes before reaching over to her phone.
"Nigga, come the fuck outside." Ali said amused. I grinned before walking over to the bedroom window and poked my head out. He leaned against his car, beaming up at me.
"I’m coming." I nodded. I turned around and bent down to Sherane, giving her a kiss before grabbing my shit from her dresser.
"I’ll call you, aight?" I said to her. She nodded, keeping her attention to her phone.
____________
"Nigga, you nasty!" Ali laughed after I gave him some dap. I laughed, before riding shotgun.
"Did you fuck?" He asked me. I grinned before looking around.
"Where’s Cole?" I asked. He looked out the window before turning back to me.
"I don’t know man. He showed me the way here, then got out the car and walked away. About two blocks, that way." He pointed behind us.
"He was high as fuck, so I left him. In a damn mood too." He added. I nodded and sat back in my seat.
"Look at you! Smiling and shit." Ali laughed. I tried my hardest to keep a straight face but soon errupted in a smile that reached both my big ass ears.
"Uh-huh. I see you Kdot." Ali chuckled. I fanned him away before opening my mouth to speak.
"Man, shut up. Where we heading to anyway?" I asked.
"Your parents house. Your mom don’t know about last night, so keep your mouth shut about it. Your dads warnings by the way."

"My baby!" My mom squealed. She rushed out her house, shoving my dad out the way before wrapping her arms around me.
"Hey mom…" I said nervously.
"Let me look at you." She instructed, holding me at arms length and spinning me around.
"You need to eat. You’re like a stick. God damn it, Kendrick. You need to bulk up…like Ali." She smiled over at his direction. My dad and I burst into laughter as Ali slowly lowered the chip he was about to put in his mouth.
"Ain’t no one finna be obese!" I said below my breath. My dad chuckled before pulling me into the living room. Once there, he picked up a piece of paper and held it out for me to take it.
"Now, Ali told me about yesterday." He started. "That was stupid ass thing to do. I ain’t even know you was like that." He said shaking his head.
"Dad, I haven’t ever did anyt-"
"But I’m not tripping." He said cutting me off.
"Everyone makes mistakes. It’s whatever." He shrugged. "But anyway, I made a couple calls. Managed to get you a job over at Walmart a-"
"Walmart?! Hell no!" I protested. My dad closed his mouth, raised his eyebrow and took a step towards me.
"You start tomorrow, boy." He nodded before leaving me stood in the living room. Fuck I look like working at Walmart?
