Gerard: so I'm not quite sure how to talk about Joan of Arc, um, I- I- um, but, I- I will say I think my real first experience with Joan of Arc was Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. [laughter] And Jane Wiedlin from the Go-Go's amazingly plays Joan of Arc in that, and um, there was something just about, I- I like the concept, just about this girl cutting her hair, pretending to be a boy, to do a certain thing, um, I just- I lo- I liked something about that, um, I always thought she looked cool as hell, um, I liked that people thought she was a witch, I mean there's just a lot of stuff. Um, so I've always like visually, been interested in the character, and obviously their story and background, it's really incredible. And then, um, so for some reason when i started working on um Black Parade and we were at this house called Paramour, um, I re- I bought this movie, uh, Passion of Joan of Arc, and I think that's what its called. And its a silent, black and white movie, it was very intense. And I think I had s- well, I had said years ago that it was during this period I started having these kinda like we- weird, kind of, um, uh, waking dreams, not fully asleep, these kind of visions, and um, I would see that repeated over and over, and that's one of the reasons that I had asked James Jean, when he created the cover for the Black Parade, to put her in it. And he did a really wonderful job with how he redesigned her, he gave her a mask, which was one of my favorite parts. And its this half-mask too, it's really amazing. Um, but I don't know how, or why, the character- cha- character? The person, the- kept coming back up in my life. [unintelligible]
