She paused in her walk to face the man. His inquiry seemed to be enough for her to spare him a thoughtful look as she turned her attention toward her skirt. With one hand on the hem of it and the other twisting at the red ribbons on her blouse, she pursed her lips.
Maybe developing a character tic of her own would make her appear more relatable. It was worth a try sometime.
âOh, this? Mmmm, no. Not really. And itâs not really for a class. Itâs just one of the few outfits I got to bring back here with me from back home. Itâs got a lot of sentimental value to it,â Ryoko said, giving the ribbon a flick. âBesides, Iâm too busy nowadays to consider school here.â
Now it was her turn to give him the âol once-over.
ââŚAre you associated with that academy they keep opening and closing around here?â
Crane shook his head. He was in no way shape or form suited to be a teacher. Or an instructor, really. He likely didnât have the patience to pass on what he knew. (Self-doubt notwithstanding, he really would have been a good teacher.) But back to the point at hand.
âNah. I just--Itâs weird seeing school uniforms. Almost makes this place feel normal. Well, relatively speaking.â
