I try to be very open and honest on this blog but some things are too far to ask ://

you say you’re “not rich” and don’t see your cybernetics as enhancements but having an NIS port is literally a privilege??? it opens up so many job opportunities and generally makes you more employable, they’re super expensive (like i get they’re sometimes covered by insurance if you need one for monitoring a condition but they’re still a privilege)

First of all, cybernetic enhancements that are necessary for daily function are free for permanent residents of gop. Thats why my family moved here when i started getting sick as a kid. And YES greys consider NIS ports to be critical to daily function for someone like me.

Aside from the fact that my brain in general was kinda fucked before my cybernetic surgeries, not having an NIS port would put me at a major disadvantage in school and work since it would be much harder for me to pick up on materials that REQUIRE some level of telepathic ability, which the NIS port helps me kinda mimic. My NIS port is literally a disability aid for me as a human citizen of gop, especially since i moved here as a child

Also enhancement =/= privilege. I dont consider my cybernetics to be ENHANCEMENTS since they just bring me to the same/similar level to my peers (even with the NIS port, there are still many many things i cant do to the same level as my peers and i was severely bullied for it). And like… any employability/job opportunities the NIS port gives me is super undercut by the fact that im a cyborg and a human living in a grey majority area… But when did i say that i wasnt privileged for having them?

OF COURSE having cybernetics for any reason is a PRIVILEGE and Im so lucky and thankful my parents dropped everything to move here. But not needing cybernetics at all is also a huge privilege. But sure. Go to the cyborg girl with cybernetics that she needs to function and tell her that she should, what, be declaring how privileged she is to function at only a slightly lower level to her peers because she would MAYBE be a LITTLE more employable off world? Fuck right off.

I see a lot of discourse about whether or not “robosexual” or “botsexual” is the correct term, so I thought I’d weigh in with my knowledge of b4b history.

Robosexual has been used for hundreds of years to describe robots attracted to other robots. Botsexual is a term that has popped up in the last few decades as a “more inclusive” alternative to robosexuality.

Robosexual exclusionists claim that “robosexuality” using the term “robot” as a root centres mechanical bots while botsexual is inclusive to androids as well as droids. I personally think this is nonsense, as the term “robot” is, and always has been, an umbrella term for all fully synthetic lifeforms. Plus, “botsexuality” also comes from the term robot, so even if robot WAS an exclusionary term, how would it be any more inclusive to use the shortened version of robot?

A third term, “synthsexual” had recently cropped up in response to that so-called issue.

Personally, I say use whichever term you feel most comfortable with. Language only has the meaning we give it, no word is inherently more valuable than another. However, please do not erase the history of robosexuality and treat it as an exclusionary term. Let people use whatever word they want.

yes im a human cyborg living on gop. yes i dont face greyphobia online or off world but i grew up immersed in grey culture and experienced being different to all my peers and even getting bullied for being psychically disabled (and they DO consider it a disability on gop and ARE often ableist about it). so expressing myself using grey culture isnt cultural appropriation its just a product of me fucking LIVING HERE and having to assimilate to the culture

yes i was born organic but i still experience oppression FROM organics who consider me as "close enough" to an android and so treat me with the same level of depersoning and robophobia as they would any other android. but at the same time im excluded from robotic support groups because i was born with flesh and blood.
