As a little extra for tumblr, i am also adding the concept art for the costumes as well as a couple progress pics. I was inspired by Yasmine Putris work with Dark Knights of Steel and I wanted the batgirls to have something with that medieval fantasy vibe.

So, I've been re-reading my Rebirth continuity timeline, and I've realized that Rebirth significantly changes Jason's dealings as Robin, particularly in regards to the Garzonas case and his subsequent death.

Robins #2 (I know, the writing in that was terrible, but this is our current canon, whether we like it or not) specifically states that Jason's first-ever crime case as Robin was the Garzonas case.

BRUCE WAYNE'S FILES on the GARZONAS CASE in Robins #2.

On the heels of the case before its infamous ending, we get Jason's first meeting with Jim Gordon, where Bruce details that he's had some challenges with Jason, though this more accurately refers to Rebirth Jason's problems with following orders and protocol for proper detective work.

Batman: Urban Legends #3

After the subsequent death of Felipe Garzonas, as detailed in Robins #2, Bruce benches Jason for a small period of time; not because he thinks Jason committed the murder ('Evidence to contrary was unsupported'), but because of Jason's recklessness in general.

Nightwing Vol. 4 Annual 2021 reaffirms this, as Alfred asks Dick to come in and hang out with Jason while Jason is benched and Bruce is away on an unspecified mission.

Jason's recklessness and inability to follow orders continues over the course of the barely three years he has with Bruce, until it reaches its climax in the renewed Death In the Family storyline:

Jason learns that his mom, Dr. Sheila Haywood, whom he thought died years ago, is actually still alive. Tracking her to Ethiopia, Robin and Batman find her mixed up with Joker.

The super-villain has already obtained a cruise missile from the Santa Priscan military (courtesy of the Network’s Dr. Friedrich Baum) and is now planning on smuggling deadly nerve gas out of Ethiopia.

The Joker Vol.2 #9

While Batman chases the missile and nerve gas after telling Jason to stay put and not engage, Jason and his mom are brutally murdered by Joker. And that is the renewed version of events currently canon as of 2021.
