is barr torr an important character part of knowing bart as a character? as i was always under the assumption everybody hated barr torr but now i’ve seen people say they would love to see barr torr in the dcu

Bar Torr is the New 52 Kid Flash. When he debuted, he revealed himself to be Bart Allen and readers assumed he was until it was revealed he wasn't at all and was a criminal from the future.

He's a fascinating character with an interesting back story, very much leaning more towards morally dark gray, but he is not Bart Allen at all and is a totally different character.

So when it comes to learning about Bart Allen, the real Bart Allen, Impulse, the grandson of Barry Allen, Bar Torr is ultimately skippable in the same way N52 "Kon El" is (who also is not Conner Kent).

The hate this character gets I feel is grossly unfair - he's just not Bart, and yeah he did kill all those people but he had his reasons. I personally stopped reading N52 Teen Titans the second it revealed him to not be Bart Allen just because of the audacity of it all but I still enjoyed his character. His design is also sick.

never not gonna find it funny how DC tried to simplify their continuity by erasing impulse and superboy's entire history before the flashpoint, making them basically brand new characters for the teen titans (2011) only for things to derail and the originals to reappear years later, making the fucking thing twice as confusing
