'Driving down the 101...'
After consuming our body weight in pizza, we fell into food comas and slept until around 7.30 on Wednesday morning...
We packed up our things and hopped in the car. We stopped at a diner, called 'The Breakfast Club', it was the type of place where the staff knew all the locals and their orders (It reminded us of the Green Teapot *sniff*)...I had a delicious bowl of fruit because I felt like my arteries were becoming clogged with junk and Emily had an almighty tower of pancakes (They were delicious, It would have been rude not to try them)
We got back in the car and headed for the infamous Route 1. It was even more picturesque than we had imagined, the ocean looked Photoshopped. We stopped at a couple view points to spot some whales/dolphins but to no avail. We did however stop at 'Elephant Seal Vista Point' which we assumed was just it's name...It was covered in rocks. We walked closer to see the rocks were moving...THEY WERE SEALS! We watched them (Emily chatted to them...) for ages, too cute!
The rest of the drive was beautiful but uneventful. There was a rather amusing moment in which I got a bit carried away with the 'Frozen' soundtrack and turned the volume up (apparently unexpectedly)...NEVER in my life have I seen someone jump so much in their life, Emily flew out of her seat, hands flailing and made what can only be described as a movie style scream...cue 10 minutes of hysterical laughter.
We arrived in Santa Barbara, I had a bath, we watched Ellen and then set out for dinner. We went to California Pizza Kitchen (a favorite of mine), I had spag bol (YUMMERS) and Em had a salad. We then made a trip to Pinkberry (DOUBLE YUMMERS).
We went back to the hotel, cried laughing at cat videos on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz0X1V6ZGRQ) and went to bed.
Thursday morning, we set off for Malibu (The sun was shining, the birds were singing...) We stopped for a Chipotle lunch and then sunbathed on the beach for a few hours, I changed color, Emily still resembles the polar bears at San Diego Zoo...
We then set off for Long Beach, we arrived back to our smelly apartment (The bins needed emptying and my room mates were away)...did some washing and then I took Emily on a tour of our school campus. (It was a ghost town...SPRING BREAK)
The housemates arrived home and we headed out for a nice dinner (With Jo and Jackie). We went to Eat Shabu on 2nd Street...IT WAS DELICIOUS, you have to cook your own food, it's japanese style and it is mine and Jo's favorite, Emily is a convert too. We filled up the car and came home...
Today is Friday and we are heading to LA for a spot of shopping, lunch and to pick up Jo's sister from the airport!
