Whether you’ve played Witcher games before or not, we recommend learning more about the button binds for the Xbox One version of Witcher 3. Although the control scheme may look familiar to those who played the Witcher games, you’ll come across several unique elements. Gehrman, The First Hunter kill guide

Gehrman, The First Hunter, is among the last and one of the toughest bosses in Bloodborne. To defeat him you will have to truly master your character and discover all the moves the boss does. You will also have to have a rather high level, full stack of blood vials and a full stack of quicksilver bullets. Fire, bolt or arcane buffs for your weapon will be very helpful as well. In the guide bellow I’ll try and walk you through the fight stage by stage and explain what to look out for and how to approach different situations. It took many hours of attempts to fully learn all the moves in all phases and how to counter them and I hope that sharing this experience with you will make your fights with Gehrman a bit easier. This, being almost the last boss of the game, makes the following guide spoiler heavy, so, if you do not want to find out about how to get different endings in the game or why you have to fight Gehrman, you should stop reading now.

Different Bloodborne endings

You will know that you reached the end of the game when you come back to the Hunter’s Dream and the workshop is on fire. At this point you will be able to go right of the doll to a previously locked iron gate and walk into a field where Gehrman awaits. There are several endings you can have in Bloodborne and we’ve written a separate article about them here. When you talk to Gherman he will offer you a choice to end your suffering or you can Refuse his offer to start the fight. If you consume three umbilical cords and refuse his offer you will star the fight and reach, what many believe, to be the true ending of the game.

Gehrman fight strategy

Fight consists of three phases. Gherman uses a scythe two-handed weapon initially, which he transforms into a one handed weapon with a gun in the second phase, and in the last phase alternates between the two forms. As you progress through the phases the fight becomes more difficult and he has additional attacks you need to be aware of. Here’s a quick summary (tl;dr version):

Be very patient during the entire fight

Never be greedy during this fight, it will take a long time to do

In first phase he uses two-handed scythe attacks you can interrupt with your gun

1st phase = interrupt, visceral, interrupt, visceral, dodge,dodge, repeat

2nd phase = dodge into Gherman and if he was using his gun to shoot at you counter with three hits of a 1h weapon you are using

In second phase I find it most effective to dodge into him when he initiates an attack of his own

3rd phase – use a long range weapon and attacks

It is difficult to interrupt his attacks with your gun in the last phase (when he starts glowing) without a gun buff, so I just used regular attacks

Third phase = always move (clockwise is recommended), dodge his attacks backwards, dodge forwards once he completes his combo and do one hit only then dodge away

Watch out for his arcane AOE blast and high in the air ranged attack (dodge its shockwave by holding the left stick in Southwest position and dodging away).

Gehrman boss kill video guide

Phase 1

He will use his scythe in two-hand mode during this section of the fight. Key to this phase is to interrupt his scythe attacks with your gun and do a visceral. Two to three viscerals should push him into the next phase. I usually come a bit closer to him to bait him into initiating his scythe attack. He can either extend his scythe in an attempt to draw you close to him and slice you up real good (dodge away as soon as you see his scythe moving), or raise his weapon behind his right shoulder and do two slice attacks. Either way I dodge away from him as soon as he initiates his attack and wait for his second swing to shoot and interrupt him. If you move away far enough he’ll do a long range attack that you gotta dodge through. You should really practice until you have this phase down to not using any potions at all.

Wait for the start of a second swing to interrupt and do a visceral attack.

Phase two

After about two viscerals, or about 3/4 of his health down, Gherman will transform his scythe into a one handed sword and a blunderbuss. If everything goes perfectly you can be close to him when he tries transforming his weapon. You can do several hits with your weapon here and do a nice amount of damage, while interrupting his transform. Rest of this phase is spent in the following fashion. Just before he initiates his attack, which is usually started by him leaping towards you, you dodge into him. If he is attacking with sword he should fly by you and you can dodge, turn around and wait for him to finish his combo while swinging into air. You may be able to put in just one hit here, but be careful to dodge away immediately afterwards. If you dodge into him and he draws his gun and shoots in your general direction you should be right next to him with an opportunity to do two to three hits. Keep doing this until he stops and starts a sort of a summoning ritual, which is the beginning of phase 3.

Throughout the second phase dodge into him and wait for him to finish his combo to make your strike.

Final Phase

Half way through his health Gherman will stop and do a chant. You can take this opportunity to do some damage, but be ready to move away. Last phase consists of a combination of the previous phases with additional moves being introduced into his attack rotation. The biggest change is that he is not easily interrupt-able anymore. I managed to interrupt him and do viscerals by consuming an item that increases your quicksilver bullet damage temporarily, but it is just not worth the hassle, in my opinion. First recommendation is for you to keep circling him throughout this phase. I usually go in a clockwise direction and this is useful for avoiding several of his attacks. The gist of this phase is to avoid his attack and do a single counter hit. Whenever I got greedy and attempted two or more hits I paid for it dearly. He will switch betweeen two and one handed attacks all of the time. He has one new attack for each form. When in 2h form he might jump high into the air and send a shockwave towards you. The only way I managed to avoid this without taking damage is to push the left stick down and to the left (SW direction) and keep dodging away, while the boss is targeted. In 1h form he can now shoot you with his gun and stun you. If you are close to him he can do a visceral attack on you, so make sure you stay in mid range and dodge away the moment the stun breaks.

When he jumps up in the air start moving down and to the left, while dodging, to avoid getting damaged.

You will certainly need several attempts to get comfortable with the third phase, but it all boils down to dodging his attack with two or multiple dodges away from the boss, all the while attempting to stay in mid range to him. When he is about to finish his combo dodge into him and do a single hit with your longer range attack. Dodge immediately away from him after you hit him (and he usually dodges away from you) and continue circling him. Repeat this for about 4 minutes until you kill him. If you use fire or bolt paper buff extra damage might speed this phase up a bit. Best I can do is recommend you watch our kill video guide and learn his moves through attempts. As always with Bloodborne you’ll have to be patient, calm and not greedy and that will make this fight much easier. Good luck hunters and welcome to New Game +.

MKX Secret Fatalities

Mortal Kombat X Secret Fatalities or Hidden Fatalities are finishers which button combinations are hidden in the move list. There are 26 Secret Fatalities in MKX. Once you perform the required button combination it will unlock the fatality permanently. All Hidden Fatalities can be also bought from the Krypt. The Witcher 3 Gameplay trailer

Hype is real! CD Projekt RED just released a gameplay trailer for their upcoming epic open world RPG The Witcher 3. Trailer is very hype inducing and shows the world we’ll be able to explore in vivid detail. I am not sure what exactly they did with the video but colors and sharpness of the footage almost feels unreal. We see many types of gameplay you’ll be able to experience in the game as well as various monsters you’ll be able to encounter. Things will seem familiar to players of previous Witcher games, only on a grander scale. The map looks huge. The open world feels like it can be explored for days. The amount of armor seen in the video is beyond anything we’ve seen in previous games of the series. All in all, video is a big treat for all the Witcher fans out there and RPG gamers worldwide. CD Projekt Red is calling their game “… the most realistic and personal fantasy of our times”. With such bold words and this epic trailer they just might be right.

Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine - Witcher 3 Expansions announced

Witcher 3 still hasn’t come out, yet CD Projekt Red decided to announce expansion packs for it. There seem to be two expansions planned called Hearts of Stone and Blood of Wine. Each of these is supposed to last 10 (Hearts of Stone) and 20 hours (Blood of Wine) to add onto already massive 200 hours of the base game and 16 free DLCs that everyone that purchased the base game will get. That’s a lot of content right there. Expansions can be pre-ordered by purchasing an Expansion Pass separately, or you can buy the game and the expansion pass together. According to the official press release Hearts of Stone will premiere in October, while Blood and Wine is slated for release in the first quarter of 2016, so just in time for you to explore the base game in full. Here’s what CD Projekt RED’s co-founder, Marcin Iwiński, had to say about the expansions:

The first 15 minutes of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

IGN had the privilege of showing the world what playing the first 15 minutes of Witcher 3 is like via their IGN first video. We see the game after the opening cinematic with Geralt and Vesemir talking. Combat ensues very soon after the conversation and we can see all the dodging and sign using we are so used to from previous Witcher games. Open world looks amazing in both detail and design. There is a brief section of the map being shown and it looks like it will be extremely useful for questing. We see some mounted combat and even a finisher move. There are some side quests being picked up and worked on in the first 15 minutes and everything looks like the game will certainly meet our expectations.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt comes out on May 19 and can be pre-ordered on gog.com.

Shadows of Yharnam boss kill guide

Shadows of Yharnam are a boss fight in Bloodborn. They can be found in the Forbidden Woods zone. This is a very tough fight and you have to have your hunter fully prepared. Have a full stock of Blood vials and Quicksilver bullets and have your weapon fully fortified and upgraded with gems (it should be +6 fortified at this point with some lvl 7 blood gems). I would recommend at least a level 40 hunter to attempt this with 45-50 being the recommended range for an easier fight. There’s a lot of room for mistakes to be made and as the fight progresses each misstep will be punished severely. There are three shadows you will be fighting and three phases of the fight. Shadows go into phase two after you’ve brought any of the shadows bellow ~40%. Phase three begins when there is only one shadow left. Based on your play style and what type of enemy you find easier to handle you should pick which shadow to kill first and which to leave for last. Three shadows are: Melee Shadow (sword carrying mob), Mid range shadow (one with the candle) and Long range Shadow (fireball shooting one).

Shadow of Yharnam video guide

How to beat Shadow of Yharnam boss?

Fight is setup so that melee shadow is always trying to get in your face and that almost always prevents you from getting close to the mid range shadow. This leaves the option of attacking the melee guy (he can be stunned with a well timed QS shot and then damaged with visceral attack), or if you make a run for it you can separate the long range guy from the pack, run back to him and do a few short attacks before you have to make another circle.

Phase 1

The first phase should be you dodging fireballs and melee attacks while trying to remove at least 50% of each shadow’s health. This takes a bit of practice and I usually had the following movement scheme in phase one. As soon as I enter the arena I run right, behind the big stone, and do two dodges to avoid melee shadow’s jump attack. This should put the stone between you and the fireball guy and you can do some damage to the melee shadow now. Stun it and visceral attack it. This will break your lock on the target and I use this time to run away all the way to the other side of the arena. From there I lock onto the fireball guy and charge him while dodging his fireballs. Melee guys will be trying to catch up and you should have time to do at least a few attacks on the fireball guy. Go back behind the big stone and attack the melee guy again. It would be perfect if you can damage the mid ranged guy (the one with the candle) if you get a chance. Do this until you have all three guys at about 50% health. You can get melee guy to 40%, but long range guy will move the whole group to phase 2 if you get him bellow 50%, so be careful there. I usually run towards the big tombstone to shield away from fireballs and take on melee and mid range shadows first. Remember to dodge away.

Once you have to run away go to the opposite side of the arena and run back to the ranged shadow who should be singled out now.

Phase 2

They will start to transform and you should take this single opportunity to do R2 charged attack on the shadow you want to kill first. I usually killed the fireball shadow, because he annoyed me the most and dies the easiest. Unleash all you have on him and he should be dead by the time everyone transforms. Dodge your little heart out now because the two shadows left will slice and dice at you and if they are far away they do these extended sword attacks that have a very long reach. You need to close the distance to melee guy, while mid ranged guy is a bit away from you two. Once close bait the melee guy into close range attack and interrupt it with a well placed gun shot. Follow the stagger up with a visceral attack and run away. Do this several times and melee boss should be dead. To push the fight into 2nd phase bring down the fire mage (R2 charged attacks while he transforms).

Melee shadow has extendable sword now and Candle guy has a fire sword.

Phase 3

During the final transformation you better do the most damage you can to the only standing shadow. You want to kill that guy ASAP. If not, he will start summoning huge snakes that have very big range and hit very hard. You will see he is summoning because of a red circle appearing around him. You can do some serious damage while he is summoning but don’t be greedy because the snake will start hitting as soon as it spawns and you need to be as far away as possible. Snake will despawn eventually and if you were lucky enough and dodged everything you can you should be able to attack the mid ranged shadow once again. With luck you will have defeated it and survived one of the tougher boss fights in the game. Good job hunter.

In the third phase the last shadow becomes very powerful. If left with mid ranged guy, he will start summoning giant snakes (as seen in the image above)

Caryll Runes locations and how to use runes guide

Bloodborne Caryll Runes are items which players can use to add different bonuses to their characters. These items can boost your character stats, enhance weapons, or even help you acquire more Blood Echoes. You can memorize up to 4 runes from your inventory at a time, but don’t worry, you can easily switch the runes anytime you want at the Memory Altar in Hunter’s Dream.

How to use Caryll Runes

Before you can equip any rune on your character, you have to obtain Rune Workshop Tool. After defeating the fifth boss The Witch of Hemwick in Hemwick Charnel Lane, a door behind the boss unlocks. Go down the stairs and you’ll find the Rune Workshop Tool item on a skeleton. Head out of here and through the destroyed wall into another celled area. Follow the room around to find the rune against some cell bars.

Once you find yourself in Nightmare Lands keep following the area to your left. Just before the first large poisonous lake there is a side path. When you enter the area of Forbidden Woods with all the snakes, keep going along the right edge, away from the main path. You will face many enemies along the way, but there is going to be an upward path with a Huge snake cluster waiting on the top. Behind the snakes is the rune, on a corpse.

As you find your way on the giant stone bridge near the start of the Nightmare Frontire you should spot and enter small cave tunnel entrance at the end of this bridge. Keep to your right and descend down. Rune is on the dead body, on the cave balcony, just above the poisoned pond.

Go right of there to the edge and follow the edge until you see a drop into an area with a single enemy, a gate, and a huge tombstone like monument across the gate. There is a corpse there containing this rune.

Just before the small bridge that leads to the Frontier main boss Amygdala there is a small area with poisonous water. Within that area there is a cave entrance. Go inside the cave and keep to your left. Inside the larger cave room with two/three harder “squid” looking enemies is the location of the Great Deep Sea. Deep Sea Add frenzy RES +200 Forbidden Woods When you enter the snake infested part of the Forbidden Woods go along the main path. You will fight a huge snake cluster with 4 small ones on the path. Right of that spot is a hole in the ground inside which are two big snake clusters and several corpses with loot. Kill the snake clusters using close range attacks for best effect and loot the rune from one of the corpses.

These items can boost your character stats, enhance weapons, or even help you acquire more Blood Echoes. You can memorize up to 4 runes from your inventory at a time, but don’t worry, you can easily switch the runes anytime you want at the Memory Altar in Hunter’s Dream.

How to use Caryll Runes

Before you can equip any rune on your character, you have to obtain Rune Workshop Tool. After defeating the fifth boss The Witch of Hemwick in Hemwick Charnel Lane, a door behind the boss unlocks. Go down the stairs and you’ll find the Rune Workshop Tool item on a skeleton. How to co-op for Chalice Dungeons & use Makeshift Altar

Chalice Dungeon are underground ruins that can be entered only by using Holy Chalices. These Dungeons add a ton of additional content and special rewards because every time you enter a chalice it offers random bosses and different rewards. After defeating the third boss – Blood-starved Beast, players acquire the first chalice named – Pthumeru chalice that can be used at any of the Ritual altars in the Hunter’s dream, except the first one (the altars look like tombstones). In order to use any chalice you’ll need some additional materials like Ritual Blood or Tomb Mold and some Blood Echoes. These basic components can be bought from the messengers near the altars, while the higher level components drop in Chalice dungeons.

How to create Chalice Dungeons

When you acquire the first chalice (after defeating the third boss – Blood-starved Beast,) go to Hunter’s dream and create a Chalice Dungeon at any Ritual Altar except the first one. Press square at the altar where you started the ritual to make your chalice dungeon accessible to other players. While creating it, be sure to set the privacy to public, if you want other players to join your dungeon, or make it private and only players who knows the password and the Glyph code can enter it.

How to co-op for Chalice dungeons

Player who creates a dungeon should ring the Beckoning Bell the moment he enters the dungeon, in case he needs help from other players. Ringing the Beckoning Bell will consume 1 Insight. If you play with a friend, give your friend dungeon’s glyph code (letters and numbers in the bottom right corner in your altar menu). Your friend should enter this code at the altar in “Search by chalice glyph” option. After that your friend will have the same dungeon like you. When he enters the dungeon he needs to ring Resonating bell (it doesn’t consume Insight). You have to be patient because it sometime takes more than 5 minutes to co-op with each other. If you don’t play with a friend, but you want to join a random public dungeon and help someone, you should approach the Ritual Altar in Hunter’s dream and in the “Chalice dungeon search” select a random dungeon. After that enter the dungeon and ring Resonating bell. You will co-op with the host only if he rang his Beckoning Bell.

How does co-op work in Dungeons?

Co-op players get the same loot from chests, but only the host of the Chalice dungeon gets the next chalice, and continues chalice progression. When you kill a boss as a host, guest player is sent back to his version of your dungeon, while you as a host progress to the next dungeon level. Now, the guest player should ring Beckoning bell in his version of your dungeon, and the former host player needs to return to previous dungeon level and ring his Resonant bell. The roles will change and the former host becomes summoned. Players will have to do the same chalice twice if both of them want to continue the chalice line. If you die as a guest you should ring your resonant bell again and rejoin. If the host dies, he doesn’t need to ring Beckoning Bell again, but the guest needs to ring his resonant bell again to rejoin.

How to use Makeshift Altar

Before you can use the first Altar – Makeshift Altar in the Hunter’s Dream, you have to acquire the item – Short Ritual Root Chalice. Defeating the last boss in Lower Hintertomb Chalice (the order of the chalices is the following: Pthumeru Chalice -> Central Pthumeru Chalice -> Hintertomb Chalice -> Lower Hintertomb Chalice) unlocks the key “Short Ritual Root Chalice” and use of Makeshift Altar. This Altar has three Quick-search options:

Dungeon Quick-search: Quick search and join an accessible Chalice Dungeon.

Co-op Quick-search: Quick search a Beckoning Bell chime to begin co-op

Adversarial Quick-search: Quick search a Sinister Bell chime to become an adversary. (PvP chalice)

Fast Farming Blood Echoes in Bloodborne

Blood Echoes are the main currency for leveling up your character in Bloodborne. They are not that easy to come by, because each time you die you loose all of them and have to fight your way back to the spot you got killed at to retrieve them (without dying again). You can farm them by killing easier enemies close to Lamps, but that is rather time consuming. Last night we discovered a more interesting method for doing it very fast. Method described here can net around 70k Blood Echoes per hour. This might be considered an exploit or a bug, but for a game this hard any method that makes your life easier is legit to me. DISCLAIMER: This might be considered an exploit, so apply this method only according to your own moral compass. We are here to report about it, it is up to you to decide what to do with this information. Here’s a TL;DR version

Get into Yahar’gul, Unseen Village by dying from a Death Dealer in Cathedral Yard (they appear after you kill the Blood Starved Beast). Alternatively you are high enough level and have found this area by yourself.

Go up the spiral staircase in Yahar’gul and pull Death dealers one by one down the staircase until they get stuck and kill them for Blood Echoes.

At about middle of the staircase is a door that leads to another two Death Dealers. Pull them back to the door at the staircase until they are stuck and farm them.

Blood Echoes farming walkthrough

For this method to work you have to have defeated the Blood Starved Beast. Afterwards, spawn at Cathedral Ward lamp and exit the Lamp room by going straight. Turn right at the carriage and watch out for the “priest” enemy. Behind him, in the corner, should be a never before seen type of enemy carrying a large sack on its back. This is a Death Dealer. This enemy hits very hard and you should let it kill you (of course game like Bloodborne requires the enemy to kill you so you uncover new zones)! You should next wake up in Yahar’gul, Unseen Village. I was level 30 when I appeared here so I know for certain that it will work for characters of this level and up. You can probably do the farming with lower level characters, it might just take a bit longer. Remember – do not go back to Hunter’s Dream or you will not be able to come back to this place until much further in the game. This is a one time opportunity for lower level characters and a great spot for those that almost reached the end of the game. From the prison go up the spiral staircase (you can first explore the lower level for some items and goodies). Go all the way up (you can kill an imp for some Twin Blood Stone Shards if you are fast enough), but be careful because there is a Death Dealer roaming about. If he is not patrolling he is standing in the middle of a large room with his buddy. Up another flight of stairs is the Yahar’gul, Unseen Village Lamp (once again, do not use it to teleport now, just activate/light it so you respawn there). Now is the time for farming. Pull one of the Death Dealers. Do not stand in his melee range just go backwards and down the spiral staircase you used to come into the room. When he approaches he will not be able to follow you down the stairs, and it will get stuck. Have a weapon with long range equipped and just hack away with it slowly. Wait for him to do his hit then hit back and doge back. Takes about a minute to kill one at lower levels. Rewards are amazing though. You get 1368 Blood Echoes and Twin Blood Stone Shards or regular Blood Stone Shards, which are used for upgrading your weapons. Stuck Death Dealer ripe for farming

Turn back and go down the stairs until you reach half way on the spiral staircase and see a door leading down into another room with prison cages. There are two hags right at the entrance. One runs to the left while one waits in ambush to the right. Carefully kill them and go inside the left prison cage. This leads into another room with two Death Dealers. Pull one of them and make him go after you through the cage and up the stairs. At the exit, next to the spiral staircase, the Death Dealer will get stuck again and you can use long range attacks to dispose of him. Be careful and do the same thing to the other Death Dealer that stayed downstairs. I usually die here to regular mobs lying on the floor of the second prison cage, respawn at the lamp and kill the Death Dealers again and retrieve the blood echoes from the right cage. Basically you get 5472 Blood Echoes from 4 Death Dealers plus change from smaller enemies within 8-10 minutes on character level 30. This makes it possible to get about 70.000 Blood Echoes per hour. You also get Twin Blood Stone Shards that are used for upgrading your weapon. Spending an hour or two here can help you considerably upgrade your character with gear and levels and when you start feeling comfortable you can go outside and explore for additional loot in form of Yahar’gul armor set and Tonitrus weapon. There is a boss in this area which is too hard for lower level characters and dying from it will make it almost impossible to retrieve hard farmed Blood Echoes, so avoid it for now. She is a friendly hunter of hunters hidden in a passageway close to the entrance into the sewers in Central Yharnam. We’ll explain how to find Eileen the Crow in Central Yharnam and activate her for Tomb of Odeon and other locations. Just talking to her when you first meet her will give you two rewards: 4x Bold Hunter’s Mark and Shake Off Cape Gesture. If you thought that is all there is to this NPC you are gravely mistaken. There are several things that can happen in a single playthrough and the way it all plays out will affect what rewards and unlocks you receive. If you are interested in what weapons, items and gestures you can potentially receive from interactions with this mysterious hunter of hunter read on.

Eileen the Crow Central Yharnam location

Eileen can first be encountered when you get to the entrance into the sewer area of Central Yharnam. From the spawn point go left (that is a shortcut you probably unlocked to get to Cleric Beast boss) and through the house (don’t go upstairs). Pass the area with dogs in cages (you will probably have to fight a couple) and continue straight. You will pass by the house with senior citizens requesting help to your left and you are at the entrance to the sewers. Go right from the entrance and destroy some barrels and coffins to reveal a secret entrance. Once inside that room go along the right hand wall and destroy additional crates to reveal another secret passageway. At the end you will see Eileen. Talk to her twice to get rewards. Once you enter destroy barrels to reveal secret entrance.

Once you jump down hug the wall to the right and enter another secret passageway.

You will meet Eileen the Crow there.

Eileen the Crow Tomb of Oedon location

You will have to kill Cleric Beast and Father Gascoigne and reach Cathedral Yard zone before the next time you are able to meet Eileen. Once in Cathedral Yard you will have to get a key called Hunter Chief Emblem, that can be purchased in Hunter’s Dream from normal vendor there for 10000 Blood Echoes. You unlock the central yard and road to main boss of this area with that key. Once you do acquire it you will not be able to visit Tomb of Oedon area via the tombstone in Hunter’s Dream. This is where Eileen is at right now fighting a couple tough hunters. To help her spawn at Cathedral Yard and turn around from the spawn point. Go into the room there and take the ladder back into Central Yharnam. You will be in the area where you killed Father Gascoigne. There should be Eileen down there fighting hunter of hunters. Go help her out. There are two outcomes to this:

1. Eileen died

If she dies you will be able to loot her body and pick up Crow Hunter Badge. This key unlocks Blade of Mercy weapon that you can purchase for 40000 at Hunter’s Dream vendor. If you manage to defeat the hunters and Eileen lives she will reward you with the Approval Gesture and you can loot Heir rune from the defeated hunter.

Great Cathedral location

You will next be able to meet her when you defeat the spider boss. She will be sitting in blood outside Vicar Amelia room in the Great Cathedral. Talk to her until she starts repeating the last conversation and you have to go inside Vicar Amelia’s room and kill another hunter there. This is a tough fight so be careful. Go back outside to speak to Eileen and receive your reward.

These are Bloodborne’s version of emotes your character will perform on command. In this guide we’ll try and explain how to equip and use gestures as well as how to unlock some of them. You can evoke the Gestures menu by pressing the left side of your controller’s touch pad . You can preview each of the currently equipped gestures there, as well as test them and slot different emotes. You can perform gestures by pressing the button and moving your controller in a certain way. Icons explaining each motion you have to perform are shown in the menu. Gosu tip: When you leave notifications for other people (with your notebook) you can attach gestures to your messages! All you have to do is press L1 when you compose your message and a ghost version of you, performing the emote, will show up for the person reading your note. Some are not available right away and you have to unlock them by visiting a certain NPC in a certain area, or performing some task. When you first create a character you’ll have a predetermined set available. These are:

Hunter’s Rally

Hunter’s Salutation

Joy

Point Forward

Sit Down

Wave

Unlockable Bloodborne gestures

Some of them are not available right away and you will have to unlock them. You do some during conversations with NPCs. Here is a list of the ones we managed to unlock so far:

Shake Off Cape You get this from Eileen the Crow. She is located in Central Yharnam in the Sewers area. At the entrance to sewers there is a large staircase with a lot of boxes and coffins at the top of it. Break the boxes to find the hidden entrance then do the same thing in the next room.

Pray From Cathedral Ward spawn go left, through a door and downstairs. When you reach first enemies kkep going stright and left down another flight of stairs. You’ll come up to a cathedral with a big tomb in the middle. Switch for moving the tomb is upstairs on the balcony inside the cathedral. From the switch go left until you reach outside area and NPC Alfred. If you choose to help him he rewards you this emote.

How to summon friends, play Coop and get bells in Bloodborne

Before you can star summoning players and playing Co-op in Bloodborne, you will have to find the first Boss, get Beckoning Bell & Resonating bell, and collect enough Insight. I’ll try to explain everything a little bit more.

How to farm Insight?

The Insight stat represents the depth of inhuman knowledge, and it’s used whenever you activate the coop bells. There are several different ways to collect Insight:

Whenever you see a boss for the first time you’ll gain +1 Insight

You get +3 Insight for killing the boss

You get +1 as summoned player for helping others to defeat a boss in coop

You get +1 after using a a Madman’s Knowledge Skull item. (Rats can drop this item)

How to get Beckoning Bell

Beckoning Bell

Beckoning bell can be used as a special signal to call hunters from other worlds to cooperate. You get the Beckoning bell after fighting a boss, whether or not you die. In order to get the item you need to go back to the Hunter’s Dream, and talk to the doll. You need one Insight to ring the bell.

Where to find the first boss?

Since you can get Insight and Beckoning bells only after encountering a boss, we’ll help you finding one. It’s not an easy task to find a boss, since the city of Yharnam is a true maze. The first one that we came across was The Cleric Beast, and you can take a look at our detailed guide where to find Cleric Beast boss.

Where to find Resonating bell

If you want to join someone (take part in co-op) you need Resonating bell. The bell will start to resonate as soon as a host is found, and you’ll be transferred to his world. In order to get this item you have to collect 10 Insight first. After that look for a messenger in the fountain outside of the house in the hunters dream. You can buy bell from the messenger, but keep in mind that he appears only when you have 10 Insight.
