hey can I req seungje x m reader
reader is shorter than seungje and younger and is polar opposite o f seungje. and seungje doesn't like how reader is attracted to him and follows him around like a lost puppy and he says some hurtful things at some point so reader starts distancing himself but seungje realises his feelings (pls make reader patch seungjes wounds up while he is still mad after their "bog" fight)
pairing keum seongje x male reader
summary seongje's just more of a listener than talker—at least that's what you thought. after he lashes out at you, you start to distance yourself
warnings/tags small descriptions of blood, hurt/comfort, fluff, getting together
a/n originally written as male reader but can be read as gn if you ignore the 'hyung's lol. for drama watchers: seongje's 3 second rule is where he beats the shit out of anyone who looks at him for 3 secs or longer. also let's pretend the eunjang gang goes to ganghak for the sake of plot pls
"oh seongje-hyung, did you see how the school rankings are gonna be released soon? i hope i do good, i really wanna place in the top hundred," you yapped away as you trailed behind seongje. he was walking pretty quickly, and your shorter legs struggled to keep up with him.
"wait, seongje-hyung slow down a little!" you panted, jogging slightly to catch up with him. seongje let out a heavy sigh, and kept his head high to avoid your gaze.
other people were snickering in the halls as they watched you chased him around. this is why seongje doesn't go to school. everyone was annoying, always talking about others.
"are you gonna go anywhere today? i was thinking i might stop by a fishcake stall, i've been craving some recently," you thought. seongje had tuned you out already, but you didn't notice and continued anyway.
"what do you think of jellyfish? they look kinda yummy but i'd be scared to try. your hair looks a little like a jellyfish, actually!"
seongje scowled as someone let out a snort from what you said, and if you looked close enough the tips of his ears were dusted a light pink. the bell rang and seongje stood in front of his class, watching the way some wannabe gangsters blocked the door with their backs.
"fucking move." seongje growled, cracking his knuckles for a potential fight. they spread quickly and looked down, careful to avoid eye contact with him. the classroom was silent as seongje walked towards his seat, except for you.
"seongje-hyung," you glanced up at him. the entire class watched with bated breath as you looked straight into his eyes.
"wanna go to the pc cafe later? i want to play val, but it's okay if you want to play league," you pulled out your notebook—pink with cute stickers on it—as the teacher walked into class.
everyone stared in disbelief. you had just blatantly broken seongje's 3 second rule, and you were still alive? never mind alive, you were still unscathed?
seongje grunted, and you took that as a yes. humming an upbeat tune, you started focusing on the lesson. seongje folded his arms and slept through the entire class, so you took separate notes for him in your notebook. who knows, maybe he'd say thank you for them? (yeah right..)
when school ended, seongje took the wrong turn for the pc cafe. you were confused, but maybe he just forgot?
"hyung, the pc cafe is the other way?"
"for fucks sake," seongje groaned, "go by yourself. you think i want to be around your annoying ass? do me a favor and shut up if you're gonna follow me around, okay?"
"what?" you paused. there was a lump in your throat and a slight sting in your eyes as seongje started walking briskly.
"did you not hear me the first time? can't even fucking listen correctly?" seongje groaned, and he turned a corner—completely out of view now.
blinking away the tears that formed, you called a cab for school and went back to the school gates.
the ride home was a blur. you thought seongje liked being around you. that was why he let you be an exception to his little fighting rule right? and why he didn't just beat you up every time you commented on his hair or face or anytime you said something—
if he really hated being around you so much, why did he let you get away with everything? why would he not tell you? you would've backed off the second he told you to stop.
flopping onto your bed, you hugged a purple wolf plush close to your chest. it reminded you of seongje, for some reason.
holding back your tears, you made up your mind to ignore seongje. there's no way the keum seongje would willingly reach out to you, not after what just happened, so you would be safe. that'll show him.
you'll hang out with your other friends in a different class for today and wait to see if seongje will say anything. an apology was out of the question—everyone knows seongje would rather die than willingly apologize.
you walked into school a nervous wreck. now that you were on seongje's "annoying" list, there was a chance you could be on the receiving end of those fists.
"y/n? you're not with seongje today?" juntae asked. your friends were clearly surprised you weren't tailing seongje today.
"did you guys break up?" baku laughed, freezing when he sees the sad look on your face. "hey hey hey wait, i'm sorry, i didn't know you guys broke up!"
"we were never dating, we're just friends" you sigh, resting your face in your hands. "i guess he just never told me i was annoying him. it was just a small fight, but i don't know what to do.."
"he doesn't know what he's missing out on," hyuntak waved his hand, "it's his loss anyway."
you nod your head slightly, not believing a word of it. was it really his loss if you were the one moping about it? seongje obviously didn't seem that.
"how could he say those things to you?" juntae huffed, clearly upset that seongje would do that to you.
"it's okay juntae," you sigh. no, it was not okay. you missed seongje already (even if he never responded to your talks)
silently, sieun grabbed a few slices of fish cakes from hyuntak's plate and placed it on yours. you smiled at him and gratefully ate it before hyuntak realized what happened.
even if you didn't have seongje, you still had your friends to rely on.
when the bell rang you suddenly realized you had to sit through the whole school day next to him. that was how you became friends—if you can even call it that—with him. you were screwed.
sitting up straight, you willed yourself to stare forward. you weren't going to spare him a second of your time today. if seongje didn't want to talk, then you weren't going to as well.
seongje slid into his seat fifteen minutes late with his hair tousled and a little bit of blood on his fists. wait– you weren't supposed to be looking. you busied yourself with writing down the notes on the board, while seongje just sat in his seat.
you could feel his eyes staring intently into your head, like he was trying to burn a hole into your scalp with his eyes alone. a little unnerving, but whatever.
the second the lunch bell rang, you were out.
you panted as you sped walk down the halls, hurriedly rushing to hide behind baku and hyuntak. their tall frames would hide you from view, and maybe seongje wouldn't pick a fight.
"does the reason why you're hiding behind dumb and dumber have to do with seongje?" sieun questioned, eyes flickering behind seongje and you. seongje was across the cafeteria, staring straight at you yet again.
"psst- uh.. y/n.. not to scare you or anything but seongje looks like he's about to rip our heads off." baku mutters nervously.
"oh my god," you moaned and put your face in your hands. hopefully this would pass, and seongje will realize you're not too fun to beat up.
lunch went by without any incident, except for those five minutes seongje spent looking at you.
the entire day, seongje would not take his eyes off of you. you were prepared for a beating any second, sore muscles screaming in protest every time you tensed up.
you glanced over your shoulder, half expecting seongje to be behind you with a fist raised, as you left the school gates. you let out a deep breath, and started your trek home. just because school was out, that doesn't mean he wouldn't beat you up.
luckily enough, you did not die on your way home. collapsing onto your bed and hugging that same stupid wolf plushie again, you fell into a short nap. you dreamt of jellyfishes and pc cafes—an odd mix but whatever.
the sound of your doorbell ringing and your door sounding like it was going to be kicked down woke you up. you blearily checked your phone to see it was 7:32pm. holy shit, you slept for way longer than you intended.
"coming!" you shouted as you changed into something presentable. who was at your door?
you opened the door to see... seongje???
his lip was busted and oozing blood, and his nose was just leaking straight blood. it dripped over his mouth and onto your doorstep, while there were a plethora of cuts and bruises littered over your couch.
"oh my gosh! seongje– come in, i have medical supplies somewhere," you stammered, scooting out the way so seongje could walk through. he shoved past your shoulder with a grunt, falling onto your couch with a groan.
you rushed for your bathroom, getting bandages and antiseptic, and hurried back out. even if he was being an ass to you earlier, you couldn't find it in you to turn him away. not when he was beaten up like this.
seongje had brought paper towels to the coffee table, and made somewhat of an effort to clean up the blood off his face and fists.
sitting on his side, you laid out the materials over his lap. starting with the disinfectant, you lightly dabbed a cotton swab over his lip and the other cuts.
it was silent as you worked on seongje, save for the occasional hiss by him or the unwrapping of bandaids.
once you were finished, you relaxed back onto the couch. it wasn't the first time you played nurse for seongje, so you were a little used to it.
"y/n.." seongje's hoarse voice called out, and you perked up.
"why the fuck were you with those little shits during lunch?"
if you couldn't hang out with your own friends, where did he want you to go? next to him? hah, as if he'd want that.
"you didn't get lunch with me," seongje cuts himself off before he can say more—the tips of his ears flushing red. "never mind. forget it."
"did you.. did you want me to?"
why was seongje asking you about this? shouldn't the answer be clear enough to him?
seongje blinks, not expecting you to ask that—but honestly what did he expect? you to come running back to him after what he said?
"don't fuckin' know.. just thought you'd be there." seongje rolls his eyes like he's not being the most confusing person ever right now.
"well then what do you want? you tell me im annoying and to stop hanging around you, now you're saying you want me there?" you crossed your arms, a little annoyed.
seongje's lips twitch into a frown, and he sighs before talking. "i didn't fucking mean it, obviously. didn't think you'd listen, you never do anyway."
"fuck, you're making this harder than it should." seongje closes his eyes and his eyebrows furrow.
you were making it hard? you? what the hell were you doing? you weren't even doing anything, you literally just followed his wishes.
"how am i making it hard? you're the one who doesn't want to talk," your voice raises in volume a little, and the anger in your tone in evident.
"then let me talk, okay?" seongje growls, but he fixes his expression into a more neutral one. "i..."
there's a pregnant pause as seongje lets out a groan and pinches his nose bridge. "i'm fuckin' sorry for what i said, okay?"
you let out a small gasp at his words. keum seongje? saying sorry? were you dreaming? the shock must've been evident on your face as seongje scowls harder.
"i was just pissed that day cause that fucker baekjin keeps running me around like a dog," he clicks his tongue, "and– and i took it out on you. i guess." he sounds like it's physically hurting him to spit out those words.
fiddling with your hands, your eyes dart around as his words sink in. "um," you squeak out, "i accept your apology."
knowing how seongje is, this was probably the best you were going to get from him.
maybe you didn't know seongje then, because the seongje you knew would've stopped talking the second he said 'i didn't mean it.'
"i like you okay? i like you so much it's driving me crazy. to be honest, i hated every second you were with them." seongje spit out the last word with venom.
"i wanted you back, right by my side where you belong. didn't know how much i got used to having you near me until you were gone."
you stood there—stunned—trying to process his words.
"you– you like me? like like?" you sputter.
seongje groans again in embarrassment, "yes. i like you."
your heart jumps at the confession, and you hold back the urge to jump into seongje's arms. "i like you too," you say shyly.
seongje pulls you into his lap, wrapping his arms around your waist tightly. "i already knew that, it was pretty fucking obvious."
you stiffen at the sudden contact, but start relaxing in his embrace. "does that mean that we're dating now?"
"we can be whatever you want, but you'll always be mine regardless." he mutters into your shirt.
"you really did hurt me back then," you let out a small sigh, remembering the coldness in his tone. "i just wish you actually told me what was wrong instead of taking it out on me. if we're gonna start dating, you need to actually talk to me."
seongje takes in a sharp breath, his arms tightening slightly around you. "i'm working on that, swear."
"i trust you, but–" you flush slightly at what you're about to say, "can you pinky promise me? that you'll start communicating?"
you hold out your pinky, squeezing your eyes shut and nervously anticipating seongje's next actions.
there's a small laugh, and you feel seongje's pinky hook around yours. "pinky promise, y/n."
a/n writing a summary for this was so hard for no reason. kinda hate this the more i read it so i hope at least one person out there enjoys it ❤️🩹
