I feel like the mash fandom should be informed that Allan Arbus, who played Sydney Freedman, is also a photographer, was a photographer for the signal corps in ww2, and was married to + shared a darkroom with Diane Arbus, who captured a lot of subjects but for some time focused on portraits of trans people, drag queens, and queer couples :) as well as a series of photos of disabled people that were published posthumously

They divorced in 1969 but stayed friends, and she didn't have any involvement with MASH, but I find it comforting when the cast of older shows are allies & I see ppl talk about Mike Farrell's allyship but I haven't seen this particular connection brought up, so here some of Diane's works, paraphrasing this page

From what I've been reading, it seems they mutually felt that their separation was necessary for both of their careers to be what they were. Allan moved to pursue acting (and so we get him as Freedman!) and in one interview said in retrospect thought she wouldn't have expanded so much artistically if they'd stayed together. Everything I've seen gives the impression they were still close friends afterwards.
