nothing lasts forever: mostly confusing, but worth it for the last conversation in the church. and it was one last case of us watching a gross episode while eating. they should've kissed through.
my struggle 4 (fast 4 furious): well that certainly was a finale. that certainly was a Way to end the show. in the immortal words of Tatianna, "we all make choices, but that was a CHOICE". you know a finale is bad when even ga is cringing about it on twitter...
what the fuck do you mean they just shot Reyes dead without any fanfare? what do you mean csm ran over skinner without even having mulder and scully check in on their potentially dying/dead friend?? (that being said i've heard from extended canon that he's NOT dead???)
i think the one thing i did like was seeing william shapeshift into mulder to have one last conversation with scully before sacrificing himself for the parents he'd never met (and yes I AM calling them both parents regardless of what the fuckass canon says), i thought that was pretty awesome. negated by the fact that he's still alive at the end but still. it was also fun to see one of dd's daughters playing one of william's girlfriends/friends (?) and having them in a scene together. She really does look like her dad.
but they really fucking did double down on the CSM being william's father thing. i still choose to believe that's somewhat metaphorical, not literal. so fucking stupid, and somehow it's okay because scully's pregnant again?? at 54? does cc even know how the uterus works???? does he realise that carrying a pregnancy gets more dangerous as an afab person gets older? yay let's put our protagonist through MORE health problems and emotional trauma if her second pregnancy doesn't work out, what a happy fucking ending!! oh my god chris carter when i find you -
jesus at least season 9 FELT like a finale, s11 just felt like it stopped. idk if they were banking on getting renewed but i would've liked to find out if that pandemic prophecy was going to get resolved, if skinner is really dead, if CSM is really dead because he was still floating in the water and he's survived an EXPLOSION. we should've at least seen his corpse get eaten by gators just to be sure. and scully should've gotten a shot at him for putting her through all that baby trauma and medical fucking violation.
and most importantly, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SUPER SOLDIERS??? YOU KNOW, THAT THING WILLIAM WAS CREATED FOR THAT YOU CONFIRMED IN SEASON 9???????
overall s11 was better than s10 by sheer virtue of mulder and scully actually being written in character, and the monster of the week episodes were a lot better but oh my god i felt my brain turn to mush at any myth arc episodes.
but WE HAVE FINISHED THE X FILES!! It took us 1 year and 5 months in the end, and tbh we're already thinking about episodes to rewatch/remind us that the show used to be good.
that being said our next binge watch is house md!
