Hate towards Noelle + suselle is misogynistic and lesbophobic and we need to talk about it.

I’ve seen so many people talk as if Noelle isn’t relevant to the story which simply isn’t true. She is the MAIN focus in weird route and don’t try to tell me the normal route is irrelevant to the weird route because that isn’t true. Noelle, even outside of the weird route, has possibly the most relevancy of any character other than Kris. Her family is insane. They have suspicious ties to literally everything. Her sister is missing. Her dad is dying. Her mum is the mayor who has the codes to the shelter. Her mum is also heavily implied to be involved with the Knight. Speaking of the Knight, the Knight has DEER ANTLERS. Also, I feel as though everyone is just forgetting Noelle’s blog. Noelle’s blog has a ton of connections to the “cats”. 

Somehow though, everyone is focused on Kris feeling left out because Noelle is finally being introduced as a relevant member of the main cast. I’m gonna be real, I do not care if Kris feels left out for a couple minutes because they have to third wheel. They’re literally creating dark fountains and are implied to be working with Gaster. Like… we have bigger fish to fry. But here we are worried about what Kris is going through for like one day at the festival instead of Noelle’s entire monologue about how she’s treated. Yes, Kris’ feelings are relevant to the story, but it is SO telling when you guys only focus on them instead of that little lesbian. 

Suselle hate is JUST lesbophobic and misogynistic. Listen, I don’t care who you ship, but calling Suselle “forced” or “slop” or even “game ruining” (yes, I’ve seen people say this before you tell me I’m arguing with a straw man) is so telling considering the fandom goes crazy when two guys GLANCE at eachother. The “doesn’t make sense” accusation is bs for so many reasons, one being that it’s LITERALLY in the deltarune prophecy that “love will find its way to the girl”. You guys are acting as if Suselle hasn’t been confirmed mutual since Chapter 2 (see the candy cane pencil dialogue). It’s REALLY hurtful when I see a well written wlw relationship get slandered so much because this is the type of representation a lot of queer girls look for. 

AND NO, Susie is not just involving Noelle in the dark worlds because she’s her girlfriend. She is involving her because of how relevant she is to the story and she knows how much she can help. This is not a sudden unexplainable change. We have passed the halfway point of the game, and Susie has realised it’s SERIOUS now, and she doesn’t feel as though it’s right for this to just be a fun thing she can do with her friends.

I’ve seen a lot of Krusie shippers (NOT ALL OF THEM I KNOW BEFORE YOU JFK STYLE ASSASSINATE ME) treat Kris as if they’re male, just to ship Krusie as a straight couple. The “Noelle will watch from the chair” jokes are really tired and icky considering they’re teenagers. I’ve seen people argue that Kris has “goon material” of Susie because of ASRIEL’S BOOK about drawing sexy dragons. That scene wasn’t there to show Kris was embarrassed because they drew Susie in weird ways (because ew??), it was there to show Kris was embarrassed because WE showed Susie their BROTHER’S BOOK which looks incriminating. The deltarune fandom has been so weird about these TEENAGERS. 

Noelle is such a well written and important character. When you guys disregard her relationships, villainize her and treat non-female characters with more respect it is TELLING. This fanbase is so misogynistic at times and Noelle isn’t the only character who’s a victim of this. Queen isn’t treated with NEARLY as much love as Tenna is despite the fact she’s just as funny. Susie is CONSTANTLY drawn more feminine even though she’s been masc the whole of the game. I’m so so so so sick of this.

I might be shot DEAD for this considering this is literally the fandom website but fandom culture really irks me sometimes. I believe certain pieces of media shouldn’t have fandom culture. Like. Imagine shipping characters from like 1984 or something. Imagine a fandom around Lolita. Like there’s certain pieces of media that should be handled with care. And don’t get me wrong I love fandom culture I love fanfic I love shipping I love connecting with people!!! But a lot of fandom culture encourages ignoring things like subtext, intention and analysis. Like if I was an author trying to make a point in my work and someone started headcanoning my characters were hazbin hotel fans I’d be so pissed off😭😭😭if I wrote a victim and and abuser and people started drawing fanart of them making out crazy style id rip my hair out… like fandom culture for the most part is fun and silly but it really gets to a point sometimes where im like “did we read the same book” “did we watch the same movie” “did we play the same game” etc etc etc. idk. I’m just rambling. It just feels like sometimes fandom culture encourages anti-intellectualism. Just a little bit. I’d love to hear other opinions on this don’t crucify me though

I am so so so so so so sick of sharpwolf. Can you like Antinous as a character and his place within the plot? Absolutely!!! I find him a very interesting character. He makes me feel sick. So he is written well. But if I’m being for real shipping Antinous with literally anyone shows a lack of media literacy. You can call me an antishipper all you want but shipping a rapist with the son of his planned rape victim shows you didn’t really understand his purpose. Idk.
