4. "Is it just me or is this bed too small for the both of us?"

“Is it just me, or is this bed too small for both of us?” Mizuki asked, hyper aware of how close they actually were to Ena right now.
“… No it’s… it’s way too small.” Ena grumbled, trying to scoot further back to give them some more space; but her body was dangerously close to the edge as it was.
“… One of us is gonna end up on the floor, y’know? I say we cut the bullshit now and just…” They trailed off, biting their bottom lip slightly as their cheeks went a light pink.
“Just?” Ena raised an eyebrow.
“… Spoon?” Mizuki squeaked out, clearly already embarrassed by their own words.
“… Seriously? You of all people are embarrassed by that?” Ena rolled her eyes, scoffing. “Fine. We can… Spoon.” Her own cheeks now went a little red at the reality of the situation.
Mizuki’s body. Her body. So close together- touching, even.
“… But only if I get to be the big spoon.” Ena quickly added. Maybe it would be easier if she was on the outside of this whole thing.
Mizuki seemed to like that idea, as they gave a slow nod; saying nothing as they rolled onto their side and gave their back to Ena. Their face had gone red, at this point, so this was a welcomed excuse to hide their face in the blankets.
Their red face didn’t go unnoticed, however, as Ena picked up on how red the very tips of their ears had gotten. As much as she would never admit it, seeing Mizuki like this… Damnit, did they have to be so cute?!
Shifting closer, Ena hesitantly wrapped her arms around Mizuki’s waist, pressing the front of her body against the back of the others.
Mizuki tensed up slightly in this new found position, shifting so that their body almost perfectly slotted against Ena’s - as if they were made for one another.
God… Mizuki had so much hair. Ena had no choice but to have most of it right in her face; but she found herself not minding as much. It smelled really, really good - like lavenders. It was intoxicating, in a way; and as the seconds ticked by, Ena found herself getting drunk off of it. It brought comfort to her entire soul, a warmth rushing over her body as her anxieties about the scenario settled down.
They… were really doing this, weren’t they? Spooning. Cuddling. As if they were-
Ena shook her head slightly. No, no. They were friends. Just friends. Who were sharing a bed. Yeah. Friends.
Mizuki was on the verge of a total gay meltdown at this point. They could feel Ena’s breathing against their back, her face in her hair; her breath tickling against the back of their neck.
And her hands- oh, her hands. They were so lovingly hooked around their waist, holding onto them with so much care and gentleness that it made Mizuki feel a little dizzy with love.
They were trying to keep their breathing steady, maybe focusing on it a little too much as it had now become very uneven - but who could blame them!!! Ena was literally - holding them. Spooning them!! This was - this was their every dream coming true!
They… They were not about to let this opportunity pass.
Mizuki suddenly shifted, pulling Ena from her half sleepy state; as they rolled to face her, almost accidentally head butting her in the process.
“Eh-?” Ena mumbled as Mizuki’s arms slipped around her, pulling her close to their own body.
Now, that was enough to wake the artist up a bit, her eyes going wide as she suddenly found her face pressed into the soft skin of Mizuki’s upper chest; nose brushing against a slightly exposed collarbone. Mizuki rested their chin on top of her head, sighing softly as they let their nose nuzzle against a few strands of hair. So soft…
If Ena didn’t like it, she made no effort to wiggle free of the hold, nor tell Mizuki off. She could feel how hard Mizuki’s heart was thumping against her face, and that alone was enough to send her into a blushing mess once more. What the hell was going on. How had they found themselves in this… unusually comforting situation?
“Goodnight, Enanan-“ Mizuki mumbled, a hand trailing up and down Ena’s back in a motion she found oddly soothing.
“Good… Goodnight, Amia…” She mumbled into their skin.
(They would awake that morning, legs tangled together and their position completely different as Ena had rolled onto her side with Mizuki now holding onto her waist with their face buried into the back of her neck.)
