lestat & gabrielle in auvergne
one of the motifs that shows up repeatedly in anne rice's work is women (specifically mothers) being crushed by an oppressive social role until they literally die and taking a character like that and remaking her into a hyperfeminine "hot mom" archetype is so tasteless i kind of don't know what to say. what a boring way of reinterpreting the story lol

Carmilla’s light
remember them?
Hey, does anyone remember the web series Carmilla?
Carmilla turned 10 this week! 🧛♀️ I was 16 when the series came out! 😳 So here’s a juicy fanart of Hollstein lololol — Carmilla totally regrets ever turning Laura because that woman is insatiable.
This is for the Creampuffs.
“Girls are caterpillars while they live in the world, to be finally butterflies when the summer comes; but in the meantime there are grubs and larvae, don’t you see—each with their peculiar propensities, necessities and structure.” – Le Fanu’s “Carmilla”
Much as I love drawing the casts’ faces, I wanted to do something that could also serve as a book cover, or something of that ilk. So I picked some of the major symbolism and did a little still-life.
I was gonna post these later but got too excited so….here u go
