WHAT ARE THE TOP 10 EXCLUSIVE WEBSITES OF 2012
What sites do you think are the most exclusive and luxurious? Would your answer include well known blogs and newsletters that the successful and powerful read. Websites like socially superlative with its location of hot-spots in New York City and abroad, Black Book the guide to sophisticated culture and urban lifestyles around the world. Perhaps you might choose everyone’s guilty pleasure, the scandalous read Scallywag and Vagabond . If you live the high life on Long Island you might say Hamptons.com with it’s news, culture and events guide about the Hamptons and where the local in-crowd gallivants to. If you are a fan of networking, GuestofaGuest would make your list, along with its great photos it has a schedule of where to go and what to see. Social climbers would put FameGame high on their list, with virtual stats of who is climbing up the fastest on the ladder of success and society. Pursuitist would make the list for the ultra rich who love to surf the net to get their hands on the next hot item. African American socialites might choose BlackgivesBack or The Black Socialite, assigned reading for any member of the Black Elite that’s setting her or his social calendar.
What would you say if I told you none of these sites make the list of the “Most exclusive web sites of 2012”!
You see when you’re a Jet-setter on the move, you are more likely a member of an elite social network. Unlike the sites above, the sites on my list are private, often unadvertised web communities of like-moneyed friends. These networks are for a chosen few, in order to gain access you must receive an invitation.
There are many sites that claim to fit this description, but I know better. Using my access, network and personal knowledge I will share with you the top 10 most exclusive websites of 2012.
I will give my review of each (in no particular order).
Affluence
http://www.affluence.org/
“Think of Affluence as a digital country club. When you walk into a country club, you know that everyone there is accomplished in some way or another.” is how affluence.org describes themselves.
Affluence.org is one of the oldest sites on my list, however in my expert opinion it is one of the best. While founded in 2008 by Scott Mitchell, it has improved each year. One of the features that separates the site from others is it qualifies potential members using their income and net worth. This qualification can be waived if enough members vouch for you.
I enjoy Affluence for the fact that it’s direct and to the point. From when you first log in, it’s all about business. Whether you’re looking for business opportunities or the next big thing, you will find it right away. What I do wish they did had was an easier way to connect with members on a local level as well as an events area. I am hoping that they will add these features in the future. Either way I recommend this site above the other great ones that made the list.
A Small World
http://www.asmallworld.net/
ASW (A Small World) is global network of well-traveled and very well connected
individuals.
This is one of the sites that I truly enjoy and I’ve had the opportunity to meet many of the members. One of the great options on the site is something they call the Geo-locator, where members can announce and list where they will be traveling to and members that live or are also visiting in that area can give tips or arrange to connect.
Billionaires Elite
http://billionaireselite.ning.com/
Billionaires Elite, have members from all over the World. Members of Billionaires Elite include royalty, politicians, wealthy individuals, people from the entertainment business, artists and professional individuals. The site itself is for business people and professionals to take time off from their busy day to day lives and have fun on the internet. Most members use the site for finding new business and social contacts. What I liked most about Billionaires Elite is that there are many affinity groups within Billionaires Elite so you can easily find an area that fits your individual niche. Members can create new groups, post events, and share information as well.
Circle of Beautiful People
http://circleofbeautifulpeople.com/
Circle of Beautiful People, is an invite only listing, each member receives their own profile page that they can use to reach out to others or even promote themselves.
“ Circle of beautiful people sets itself apart by providing access to its extensive facebook community which includes several secret or restricted community pages. The network also boasts a first rate online publication.” .
Elysiants
http://www.elysiants.com
Membership to Elysiants can only be obtained by invitation of a existing member. If you haven't received an invitation, the only way you can join Elysiants is to purchase the Elysiants Premium Membership.
Elysiants is a great site for the business leader who is looking to expand their business network and social reach. The Elysiants community is know for their many social networking events to help engage their membership.
Ronald de la Fuente-Saez, founder, says, “We have extensively researched the needs and wants of people all over the world who live a life of luxury and celebration. They have indicated to us their need for an exclusive, global community where they can meet with friends and peers, share experiences and receive special privileges”
What I really like about the site is the Charity portal, it lets members select charities they currently support and displays them as a badge on your member profile. Like A Small World, Elysiants has a home swap section of the site that members and swap homes when vacationing, which is a definite plus.
Senatus
http://senatus.net/
Senatus membership offers access to a network for influencers consisting of tastemakers, trendsetters and thought-leaders.
This site is well laid out and very easy to navigate. Members can submit content as well as connect with each other. I often communicate with the founder Ken Lee when I have any questions. He’s very responsive to the needs of individual members. Senatus has one of the biggest elite network Facebook pages on facebook.
SQUA.RE
http://squa.re/
As a busy and successful person it is difficult to still be in-the-know. Time is a precious commodity and the founders of Square know that. This site does all the running around for you. Square and its community of members point out the news, articles, photos, and even tweets that you need to stay up on from around the web and elsewhere. After I got the hang of it this became my “daily paper”.
The Native Society
http://www.thenativesociety.com/
The Native Society, is a little different from the other entries on my list. This isn’t a group you join as much as you are born into. If Birch Wathen Lenox, Browning, Brearley, Chapin, Hewitt, Marymount, Nightingale, Sacred Heart, Spence, and Trinity don’t ring a bell then don’t go any further.
However if these words bring upon fond memories or perhaps you are an alum of Columbia, Harvard, Princeton, or Yale then this is the network for you. All this is just the beginning, you still need to meet their criteria for membership. From events, to investments, to an online community - The Native Society represents a culture, school of thought, and even world of it’s own.
Total Prestige
http://www.totalprestige.com/
Total Prestige is a professional social network for entrepreneurs. Luxury lifestyle aficionados use this invitation-only networking site to reach the world’s most undeserved internet demographics: the super- and super-duper rich.
As a new member to the site, I received welcomes from some of the current members. I noticed that they included some friends who already had membership. When you invite your network, get showcased on the “Top Inviters” leaderboard. I thought this was nice touch.
