He barely registers the frustrated groan of Aurora's ventilation as whatever stasis the Doc put over her releases, not over the cotton-wool buzzing between his ears. He has the vague sense that he should be yelling right now - he should be doing something, ordering Brian to change course to follow Carmilla or shouting for Tim to man the weapons array. But he doesn't make a sound.*
*Eventually he just stops and sinks down the closest wall until he is sitting on the ground, staring blankly forward.*
Tim rounds a corner, spotting the first mate. He hesitates, trying to figure out what to do. He’s never been great at comforting anyone, and if he has any guesses, Jonny looks a little like he’s dissociating.
He knocks gently on the metal just to the side of Jonny’s shoulder. Leans with one shoulder against the wall. Clears his throat.
“Hey- you okay?”
*Jonny doesn't respond at first, and that's probably the biggest clue that something is wrong. After a moment he lifts his head to look at Tim. His eyes are unfocused. There's a few droplets of Carmilla's blood on his trousers. He swallows slowly, works his jaw as he remembers how to speak.*
"Carmilla took the Soldier," *he says at last, and something about saying it out loud thuds between his ribs.*
"O... kay? It can handle itself, though, right? Though I don't much like the idea of leaving it with her..."
Probably not the most tactful choice of words, but he's tired, and, frankly, has no idea what's going on.
"I- Do you know why?"
*Jonny grits his teeth at the dismissal.* "Carmilla was here," *he stresses again, putting more weight behind it.*
*Carmilla was here, and he didn't even stop her, he couldn't even bring himself to properly fight. Practically let her take it.*
"...Prob'ly going to disassemble it for fun, who fucking knows," *he mutters.*
“Oh- oh, shit.”
It’s not a secret that he doesn’t like Carmilla- granted he’s not sure anybody does, least of all Jonny.
Unfortunately, Tim cannot quite find the words right now.

tim hasn't always taken the best care of his things. he'll lose stuff, or it'll be broken in a few days. books and his guns seem to be exceptions.
until he manages to lose the journal ivy gave him. he's not the only crew member to have one, but he's certain he's the only one who uses his. he misplaces it. it's not a matter of he can't find it. he genuinely can't remember where he'd put it.
he winds up in ivy's archive/library/whatever it's called. he searches through shelves of books in vain. until he finds a book on the... ygddrasil system. he flicks through its pages, with no luck. but his original journal's tucked between the cover and first page of the book.
he didn't borrow this book. he hasn't been into ivy's archives for a while. so why the hell is his journal here, it's last few pages scrawled with notes on midgard and its resistance? it's all odin and loki and sigyn. over and over, sigyn's name is repeated in a sloping hand he usually reserved for writing his signature.
what... the hell?
*Ivy's standing there in a corner, not saying anything, choosing to keep her own ideas quiet, before finally speaking up*
"Section-36372-HGF. Real experiences."

*She steps forward. There's almost a hint of concern in her eyes*

"I- Tim, I am an archivist. It's important to me you know that I know what a journal is. I don't think I've archived any recent journal entries. If that helps at all. I can help you look if you'd like?"

*She pauses for a minute, her eyes rolling into the back of her head as she starts calculating probabilities*

tim snorts with reluctant laughter
i mean- she’s probably not wrong. don’t think anyone else gets almost fully out of commission if their mechanism goes haywire.
*She thinks for a minute. Everyone does tend to have minor setbacks if their mechanisms malfunction.*
"Depends. Brain death, despite it's temporary benefits does tend to leave one in a pile of blankets in a corner of the room."
i- fair enough. but you’re not exactly… vital? especially if we’re attacked because jonny’s gone and pissed off the wrong planet’s government. can’t have a gunner if he’s blind!

i tried to do that once, i think? didn’t exactly end well. it… ignoring the fact i was blind in that moment- it was like losing my sight. or a limb. it’s hard to explain. i don’t think, i just shoot.

sigyn. i see her face in the quartermaster’s, and i long for her. they are not the same. i hear odin’s fractured cadence in the scientist’s voice. they are not the same. it terrifies me.
the books on the midgardian resistance help. and the archivist- i do not know her name- is knowledgeable on the events of the bifrost. she does not know my name. she calls me tim.
my name is loki.
the rest of the pages written by loki are various notes on the bifrost incident, and sigyn. almost three pages filled with information about sigyn.
tim stares blankly at the pages.
*She stares down at the page, thinking for a minute, before pulling a torch out her pocket and starting to examine Tim's eyes*
tim frowns, squinting.
hey, my eyes’re fine.
"I'm trying to measure brain damage. Give me your hands?"
tim sighs, but offers ivy both hands. they’re a little shaky.
*She gently takes them, drawing a line across Tim's hand*
"Can you feel that?"
'course i can. i told you, i'm not injured.
"Can I see the journal again?"
*She stays holding at least one of Tims hands*
tim nods.
sure. i mean, i let jonny of all people read it once.
*She flips through the pages, looking at the handwriting*
"Did you travel back to the Bifrost?"
