It was no secret that Grace enjoyed the finer things in life; it was evident as she made a point to carve out the time to take in some of the more neglected artistic holiday festivities. An acquired taste at best, as they appealed mostly to those who could find an appreciation in things that required a learnt sophistication. --- She’d spent most of the evening perusing the newest exhibit. Taking time to stop and interpret every piece- even the ones that existed far beyond the plane of comprehension. 

The clicking of her heels on the marble floor came to a halt as she stood beside the person she recognized, clearing her throat as she spoke up- her eyes taking in yet another piece that paid homage to werewolves. “I must say there is quite a disparity when it comes to art that represents shapeshifters,” Grace commented only half jokingly as she took a sip of the champagne she’d been gifted on arrival, in exchange for her Valentino coat. “I would mention it to someone in charge but there’s a beauty in being underestimated”

Hanna and her family never really celebrated Christmas or other December holidays, but she wanted to do something for her daughter now that she was back in town. She wasn’t entirely sure what Alex was going to be doing, but she was certain they could figure something out that they could do together. She knew that Mira would love to go out to see the lights decorated everywhere, especially at the botanical gardens. Since Hanna had been gone so long, she didn’t know if a lot of the festivities around town had changed. “Hey, do you know if they’re still doing the lights show at the Botanical Gardens?” she quickly asked someone passing by.

Grace had been in her element. It was the only time of year she was willing to let her career as a journalist take a temporary back seat, as she had more important thing to focus on. Decked festively in her emerald Prada coat Grace sashayed through the town with several shopping totes in tow- most of which carried presents she’d been eager to wrap. Hearing the question she paused, happy to serve as the information guide for all things Christmas in Astoria, even off the clock she felt compelled to serve as a resource to others.-- “It’s actually at Memorial Park this year,” she chimed in, remembering the bulletin she’d read just a few moments prior, “It’s been a while since they had it at the botonical gardens, something about people not respecting the plants.”

“look, i could honestly care less when people put up holiday decorations. who cares if someone wants to skip to christmas early? it’s not like that decision matters to anyone else but them.” the great ‘when is it acceptable to put up christmas decorations’ debate wasn’t one devon was particularly fond of, if only because she didn’t much care. even though it was apparent that a lot of other people did. “it’s like pineapple on pizza. some people love it, some people don’t. i see no problem.” except that last little bit was a trap - she hated pineapple on pizza.

“Well speaking as someone whose tree is already up I can say I fully agree-- though pineapple on pizza is deplorable. I’ve tried it and it made zero sense to my taste buds.” That was the more delicate way of putting it. She’d taken one bite and spat it out, swearing it off ever since. Bacon, onions heck even broccoli could find a home on a slice but pineapple needed to stay in its lane as far as she was concerned. “Then again not everyone celebrates Christmas so I guess there’s a bit of a caveat there.”

Grace was getting her usual morning coffee; an 8 shot venti Ristretto with breve, 5 pumps vanilla, 2 pumps caramel, 2 Splenda--- poured not shaken-- when she’d caught sight of her favourite police officer to harass with her incessant, probing questions. It wasn’t her fault reporters were branded the bane of some people’s existence. She was just determined to get to the bottom of the truth and report it as such. Her job wasn’t to dress any one person up as the hero or the villain, the facts did that all own their own and she would’ve have it any other way. 

Scooping her complicated order into her hands she padded over and- without an invitation- slipped herself into the chair that was vacant at his table. A smile tugging on her lips to preface her words, “I’ve been meaning to come down to the station but it looks like fate saved me the trip.”
