Example of my freelance work contract
This is an example of my freelance work contract
The designer Malin was asked to design a book cover for the knowledge online (client). The designer needed a model to use for the book cover therefore I have been asked to act as model for the photo-shoot mainly because of my long black curly hair. The designer idea was to take a picture of me upside and down with hair down, holding the camera in front of my face so that the camera would be primarily focused on.
The contract
I agreed to work 2 hours unpaid as a model. We went to a park and the designer used her own camera took some few shots it only appropriated one day to take all the shots. If further work required this would be charged at 15 pounds per hour. The designer carried all production and post-production and no travel cost was incurred.
Working for freelance work was a great experience for me even though I was acting as a model; I gain an understanding of how freelance work progress was. Next time if I get a chance of working for freelance work I will initially insure of the contract and be well prepared how I am going to do my work and how much I will get paid.
ident
Uses of idents project task 2
Ident is an identification of a TV channel and Ident is used in many different industries such as, TV stations, and other networks. By the use of ident for instance it helps TV stations to identifying themselves on air, using brand name. Ident also helps viewers to identify the channel they are presently watching.
Now day’s motion graphics have been used in many industries, because of that is brings ident to life, mostly in animated forms. The visual effects and creative of idents tend to keep grab the audience attention due to the animation effects.
Normally all the idents are short clips or animations that play before a programme starts, it will let know the viewers of which channel they are watching.
Another thing is that an Ident can be entertainment led or information led. An example of entertainment led ident would be channels like MTV, Disney, Sky 3, bbc3, etc. The use of visual effect/animation is appealing to the audience and this attracts the viewers to watching, so without the visual effects or animation it will be uninterested for the viewers to watch a channel and typically channels like these are most watched by young audience .
Information led gives the audience a bunch of information and it has not been designed for the purpose of entertaining or attracting but this ident is designed to give informative or factual programs. For instance information led ident possibly will be BBC news, discovery channel, CBC channel etc.
The different between entertainments led and information led is that, information led would be plainer and les exiting than entertainments led, entertainment led would be more exiting and attracting to look at.
An example of information ident:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2r3rbthELZU
An example of entertainment ident :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcr11ERN5fE
Space and timing:
For design a television ident, Space and timing is essential as like BBC news and Disney channel. For example if the ident doesn’t have a correct spacing then it will see imperfectly wrong with the advert and it will be placed off by the spacing. Likewise the time is designed with the channels for audience notice.
Some ident can be short and this is often made for television channel for younger audience because they are more attracted to faster pace. On the other hand some ident can also be longer and this is often created for television channel for older audience who do not mind to watch a long ident, as they are more appealed to slower pace.
Viewer interaction:
The interaction with viewers is very important to integrate with the design of a television ident because this makes a cooperative way of connecting and communicating with the audience. For instance, viewers can get interaction through the continuity presenter voice where it makes them to keep on watching the channel, or the technique they have created ident of visual, this can also be a reason why people is attracted to watch channels.
For instance channels like BBC news it most watched by adult audience because they are more interest to watch informative channels and they don’t mind to watch plain ident. Mean while if we see young audience they will probably get attracted to watch for channels like Disney channel, because the ident is more visual, fun, lively and young to watch.
Taken as a whole, therefore it is very important for a television ident to attractive with the viewers, in order to keep the audience interested and connecting with the channel and programmes it shows.
Target audience:
I think the audience that Rince FM are aiming at a base on young people because the colour they are using is bright and bold and stylish which shows how it is target for younger market. This is demonstrate by the music they play in encourage people to listen.
Limitations of typography:
The amount of typography used in ident is very important. For instance if any television channel is using too much text in a ident, the audience will become confused and overloaded with information nevertheless, if there isn’t enough information` in the ident then the audience will not know much about the ident. Therefore it is important to keep a balance between the two.
Limitation of Resolution/Colour/Aspect Ratio:
Resolution is basically the quality of a display it is the number of different pixels in each aspect that can be displayed and it is means as Wight and height. It’s all depending on what the television wanted it to be. For instance there is (HDTV) in 1080 which is in high definition or (EDTV) which is in enhanced definition. The two most corporate video standards there have been used are NTSC and PAL. NTSC is most standard used in Canada, Chile, Japan, Peru and PAL is mostly used in countries like Denmark, Australia, India and China etc.
Aspect Ratio is also important, because of many screens is having different aspect ratios, such as 16:9 or 4:3 therefore it is necessary to make it in right aspect ratios. If you that your ident will stop looking incorrectly on the screen.
Likewise, use of colour it necessity to have a limitations because, if they are using too much colours or pattern on one screen it will distract from what the ident is trying to communicate and its overall message. Therefore it is important for every single graphic designer to limit the colour they are using when they are going to create a television ident.
Freelance job and freelancer
A freelancer (freelance worker) is called as self-employed person who is working in a profession or operate in which full-time employment is also frequent. Normally freelance worker is not attached to any particular lord but they could be employed for a given task.
Freelancer job is particularly common fields as, computer programming, graphic design, journalism, consulting and many other professional and creative services. Some freelance work requires clients to sign written contracts whilst others may act upon work based on verbal agreements. Various freelancers may possibly give written estimates of their work and ask for deposits from clients, although for others this is not useful or essential.
The payment of freelance work is different. For an examples some freelancers may charge (money) by the day or hour, or on a per-job foundation. Nevertheless, a quantity of large clients involve in businesses may have internal policy regarding freelance pay, so that a freelancer adapted to charging by the hour may be asked to acknowledge a large sum payment for a particular job.
Overall freelancing helps us to set our own agreements; everyone can choose to be a registered freelancer, furthermore, freelancing does not put any work pressure on. Secondly freelancing can help our dreams come true, everyone have a certain dreams to be fulfilled, so freelancing can be one of the ways to fulfill our dream at the same time it also make us a independent person. The most importance of freelancing is winning clients and promoting, advertising a word of our services through emails, websites etc.
worth every second
I have done it in adobe illustrator. As you can see i have used different colours such as, pink, green, blue, black , red. My idea of this concept art was, I want to show music is magic using these colours.
Shared with Dropbox
I found picture of a pink rose and took the picture into adobe illustrator, starting to draw the outline of the rose using the blob brush tool and paint the rose red and the leaf green.
The background behind the rose was used by pattern painter,
why did i choose to do soundproduction *ideas*
Why did I choose to do sound production?
What is background music?
Background music states to various style of music that is anticipated as a background to a production, event or venue to be listened. It is purposes not to be the main focus on audience, but moderately to enhancement that which is meant to be attention upon. As example background music is used in numerous electronic media this includes film, television and internet videos such YouTube, daily motion or video blogs etc. The use of background music is to enhance emotion and rhythm to a film or any other thing. Usually as I said it is not meant to be noticeable but it often delivers a tone or an emotional approach toward the story or the characters dialogue. In adding up, background music indicates a transform in mood. For instance, if you play hear a happy song which is in major scale this characterize a good life which will lift the feelings of the listener and make them happy. But then if you hear a sad song which is in minor scale will give sad feeling and make the listener unhappy. Some people also use background music for rest and relaxation. For an example people who are doing meditation, yoga, they listen to peaceful relax daily instrumental, this make them slow down and creates a peaceful and positive mind enhance the experience of your activity.
The reason I have chosen to make background music is that I believe my production will look better since I have the ear for music which means I can play any melody and do my own composition, I always spend my time on a keyboard whenever I have time I will make my own style of music/tune and record them. I have many musician, singers, producer’s friends who are my big inspiration who work in the music industry. They will always encourage me and give me advices of what I can improve in and what I can do. I am happy I had experience working in a studio with a producer to see how he was making his own background music. I will look at it and see his method and the technique he is using, he taught many thing, for an example how to apply different effects to the sound or what instrument will be useful to produce a sound.
One of my big inspirations is the famous Indian music composer “A.R Raman “who has won many Oscar awards and known as the Mozart of madras. Ar Raman makes his own style of various unique, he is known for assimilate Eastern classical music with electronic music, world music and traditional orchestral arrangements. This is what I like about Ar Raman he inspires with his own style of music and his music just sound different and magical comparing to other music composer.
My idea is to make my own style of background music instrumental which will be in slow tempo and fast tempo as well most of them will be very melody since I like make very peaceful music but I will also try to make remix it with techno fast beat. I am very excited to see the outcome of the music samples and hope so it will be useful for my other upcoming project works.
This is some examples links instrumental I will use for sound production:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhMrWvBQiZI
In this video clip you can hear in the background strings. When you hear strings it gives you a mood of relax and very angelic and it is also nice to hear the instrument. For my project i will defiantly use strings as one voice of the keyboard.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmoT3NVdmSk
In this background music the main instrument that has been used is classical guitar. A classical guitar is a instrument that have been build of with wood, is has six strings. Guitar is of my favourite instrument, when you play it, it just sounds beautiful and you can just hear it again and again. This is one of instrument I will use.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcPQ5hL8zUc
In this clip you can hear the main instrument that has been used is solo of piano. Piano is one of the most used instruments in the world. Personally for me when I play piano it just gives me a relaxing and peaceful mind, you can make different melodies with piano. It is mostly used in classical and jazz music for solo performances, composing and many other events.

as you hear this link , this is techno which is in fast tempo you can hear it repeat again and again, this is the special thing about techno. Techno is known as electronic dance music generally repetitive instrumental music, often produces for DJ’S.
Ar rahman background music

In this link you can hear, AR Rahman have used piano, guitar and mainly sitar played as solo and he have taken background instrument as piano. It sounds really good mixing the entire instrument together. First in the start the tempo is going very slow and towards that tempo is going in fast tempo.

This is AR Rahman most known medley background music’s used in Bollywood movies.
final major project I have just mixed all my samples together and upload it on soundcloud.. I am very
pleased outcome of the music samples... I would have spend more time to make it better but at least I finished to the right time. The actual time for the sound production was 4-5 mins but unfortunately i needed to cut it down to 3 min.... Now i just need to make a short video in after effects.
weekly plan
Last week I have done my 11 samples, so for this week I will take the best one I like and mix them all together in "mix craft". in mean while if I have time I will do a short video in after effect put some instrument pictures and visualize what instruments(voices) I have used to produce my sound-production.
Plan today achieved
Today spent nearly 1 and half hour to make some more samples in the studio, I managed to make 10 samples very happy about it... Now what I have to do is pick up the best on I like and mix them together in mix craft.
Progress of sound production
Recording of sound:
Advantages:
There are many benefits we can talk about recording in a studio. The quality of the gear is usually higher and there are no disruptions while you record. Most trained musicians are absolutely focused on what they are recording. They don’t need to be concerned about pressing record or setting-up microphones, attaching everything up and ripping everything down. The whole environment is exclusively dedicated of what they are trying to achieve. The biggest advantage to a professional studio is that it is Professional. This is the foremost reason why most recording artist would decide on to use a professional studio, because they want a high range of quality (professional) sound recording of their songs.
Another benefit to a professional studio is the equipment it offers. Some of the things a pro- studio can offer are: processors, compressors, professional microphones, limiters, effects, EQs and etc. All of these things can make a massive difference in the sound quality of their recordings. Speaking of equipment, it is also worth pointing out that many professional studios offer a variety of instruments such as, guitars, drums and piano/keyboards and amps.
Disadvantage:
In other hand if we talk about recording sound on your phone it doesn’t have the same professional standard microphones as professional studios have. When you record a sound on your phone you will clearly see low quality of the sound, you will hear back noises, cracks, and it won’t sound professional as recording in a studio. If I have time I will upload a sound I recorded with my iPhone on Tumblr so you can see the different between studio recording and phone recording.
My experience recording in a studio
Advantage: Before I was going to record in the studio all the samples, I was well-prepared playing the tune and melody with my keyboard recording it on my iPhone and would write my ideas on a piece of paper the scale and tempo for the different genres. When I was start to record my samples in the studio I was not panicking because I already knew how the system works in a studio since I had experience working with in one. To start to record my sound all I needed to do was to plugin (monitor jack) into keyboard from there to the mixer and all other things were already set up. The college keyboard (Roland XP-10) was new for me to use, so therefor it took me time to figure out the systems of the keyboard, I was experiment all the different kind of voices in the keyboard such as, strings, piano, bells, synth, I was really enjoying playing around with the keyboard. Afterwards when I was ready to record my sound I use the college software “Adobe audition” to record each sound. In mean while playing around with the voices it enables me to produce some new tunes and melodies in different styles. Overall it took me 3 hours to record 9 samples in one day but I will still use the studio to make some new samples in the last end I will pick up the best samples that I like.
The disadvanges of this sound recording was that it took me time to figure how the keyboard system was working. I was struggling to find out the voices since the systems of the keyboard was complicated, at last end I figured out to work with this keyboard and found out that this keyboard has many effects I can use for my sounds.
A few of us have decided that it would be great to have a final meet up of the 2nd years before we leave, but the first idea of having a game tournament day needs a lot of organising and after talking to a few people in my class I found out that not enough...
Changes to the college :D
I printed this and out it into Deb’s room, have a closer look! Most changes will happen over the summer holidays, so mostly relevant for the first years but this is really great!
Except for Office 365 which has been live for almost the whole year.
Please reblog so everyone can read this :D
